#2620044 Sharp & Johns to DAL for Daley and Garbut

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 10 July 2015 - 08:21 PM

Daley is a pretty solid d-man. But they just got a little worse losing a player like Sharp. And that brings a smile to my Blackhawk-hating face.

#2618334 Red Wings sign D Mike Green (3-years, $18-million)

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 01 July 2015 - 04:15 PM

A good signing.  I know he can't play defense, but we have plenty of defensive minded defenseman.  We just needed one person who can actually move the puck and shoot the puck well. Kronwall has regressed with his shooting.

Plus, Green is a right handed shot.

Another great aspect of this signing! Not only a perfect fit for what we need. But also finally a big time right handed shot at the point!

And the ironic thing is he was drafted with the pick we gave to Washington for Robert Lang. Full circle indeed! Welcome to the best organization in sports Mike!!

#2555877 Jimmy sucks in a shootout Howard

Not that Jimmy has been great in shootout situations. But the thread title should really be, "Red sucks in a shootout Wings." Cause it's most certainly not all on Jimmy.

They know the words better than Americans do!  Kudos.

Way to bring some negativity to the table. And you're a mod? Smh...

There might be some smack talk between us during the winter Olympics. But after the displays in Pittsburgh and now Toronto, It's pretty clear we have each others backs, and view each other as brothers.

#2530611 Red Wings Target Mike Green

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 08 July 2014 - 01:58 PM

I think it goes without saying that we can't give up Tatar, Nyquist or Mantha. But Jurco and picks seems reasonable considering how desperately we need a top D-man and a right handed shot. Get it done Kenny.

#2529516 TANK IT! 2014-2015 Season

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 02 July 2014 - 02:21 PM

How about you go buy Quincey and Cleary jerseys? Prove you're a true fan.

I hate Quincey and I hate Cleary even more. But to even consider "tanking" a season is beyond ridiculous. Especially a team like ours that makes the playoffs every year. I don't care how close it was, we continue to make the playoffs despite all the misfortunes thrown our way. And we actually played Boston pretty well for the most part in that series. Chara said it best when he said that it might have been a 5 game series but it sure didn't feel like one. Multiple OT games in that series. I wouldn't even consider tanking if we were a 12-15 seed. A legendary franchise like the Red Wings never say die and would never throw all integrity out the window and tank a season. So please, just go root for another team.

#2529456 TANK IT! 2014-2015 Season

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 02 July 2014 - 12:27 PM

I'm officially calling for a 2015 TANK job. I think we can all agree, there is absolutely NOTHING to amp us up and get excited about in the upcoming season. Literally, NOTHING.
Instead of praying for another 8th seed finishing of limping into the playoffs and getting decimated in the 1st round, I would much rather hope for an absolute tank and hopefully get a top 3 draft pick. Not only will this give us all something to get excited for, but it might also spark some much needed change in the organization's management.
Who's with me?  #Tankit2014

You sir, are a grade A clown. Tank the season?? GTFO and go root for the Canucks or Flyers or someone.

#2528811 2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 01 July 2014 - 05:59 PM

With the best remaining options being Derek Morris, Ed Jovanovski, Michael Del Zotto, and Joni Pitkaenen, I'd much rather just give Sproul/Ouellet/Marchenko a chance with the big club, than waste our money on any of the players I just mentioned (I do sort of like Del Zotto, but he's yet another lefty). Or acquire a top D-man through trade. As long as we don't have to give up Tatar, Nyquist, or Mantha (I could live with giving up Jurco and picks for the right d-man).

#2528454 Wings sign Kevin Porter to 1-year, 2-way contract

Well surely now we can officially plan the parade for next year. The Cup is coming back home.

#2525960 Wings to have face to face with Matt Niskanen

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 26 June 2014 - 08:14 PM

I'm way late to this thread. But all I can say is we better not overpay for a guy who has had...count them...ONE good season under his belt. Id rather have an aging Dan Boyle that we know will bring it, like he has almost every other season he's played. However, if the contract is reasonable, I'm all for Niskanen wearing the Winged Wheel.

#2525310 Alfie informs Wings he wants to return

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 23 June 2014 - 04:33 PM

According to Helene St. James Twitter:

Helene St. James @HeleneStJames 56s

Daniel Alfredsson has told #RedWings he wants to play another season. Sides will talk again later this week.

Really glad to hear it! Alfie showed that he's still a productive player and leader. Hopefully he'll hoist the Cup before he eventually calls it quits.

#2522438 WCF: (6) California Dreamin' v (5) The Night Chicago Died

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 01 June 2014 - 11:05 PM

For once this went the exact way I was hoping for! The night the Wings got eliminated I sat and looked at the remaining teams and concluded that my best case scenario for the finals would be Rangers Vs Kings (in terms of my level of hatred for the other teams). And sure enough, that's how it went down. Now I'm saying Go Rags cause the Kings just got a Cup a few years back, and the Rangers have been Cupless for 20 years. But if the Kings do win it definitely won't break my heart by any means.
