This makes me sad... What could have been...

it's really crazy to think that if it weren't for such tragic events, our D core for YEARS could have been Lidstrom, Konstantinov, Fischer and Chelios...

Chances are, that if Vladdy hadn't been injured, we wouldn't have drafted Fish. But then again, we do have a thing about drafting defense in the first round, so I could be wrong. Either way, it sucks to lose two guys like that. We should get a compensatory pick.

Sutton's hit on Leopold was a beauty.

If you drop the 's' off of the https, it will embed the video instead of the link. You did that from a mobile device?

I've always enjoyed this for some reason or another.

Last night, onacounta we had nothing better to do, Mrs. BigWillie and myself, joined some friends of ours for a night with The Temptations at Pine Knob. (I'll never call it DTE....) I have to say, for a man of 70, "Big Daddy" still can shake it down. I was expecting it to be more of a review band type of situation, but the group gave the group I saw around 1974-75 a run for their money. All of the energy was still there, maybe more. First class showmen, still to this day. Can't wait for Yes and Procol Harum, to compare shows to their pasts.

#2322515 Semin signs one year, $7m deal with Carolina

Too many high horses around here, if anything.

Seems more like, too much beating of dead horses, IMO.

What part of, "we weren't interested", is so hard to comprehend? I'm thinking the Red Wings organization, has a whole lot more insight into why Semin would not be of benefit to the team than a bunch of armchair GM's. Oh, that's right, LGW has lead the team to the playoffs for 21 straight years, and brought us all the spoils of a successfully run sports team, and business. They, had nothing to do with any of that.

For comparison, ask Montreal, The Islanders, or Edmonton, how their "dynasties" are doing. Yeah, you can't win every year, and that has only been magnified by the cap era.

Alright, you can continue crying that Santa didn't bring you the new Nintendo that you wanted.

I've never seen so many people ***** and whine, that we DIDN'T sign an overpaid, unmotivated, slacker.

Are we that desperate for a new whipping boy???

In other news, it's only July, we have until late February to see who we can bring in to finish out our roster. There's no need to get out your pitchforks and torches, just yet. Hell, they may not even have a season this year. First things first.

Khan reporting that according to Semin's agent that the wings never showed serious interest in him.

Probably matching Semin's never showing serious interest in backchecking.

#2320770 What Should Be Addressed in the New CBA?

Posted by BigWillieStyle on 20 July 2012 - 04:53 PM

Forgot about 1 thing. The player/owner percentage should be 50% each. The owner still has to pay the rest of the staff as well, and pay to run the rink and all the bills included in that. The players just have to pay their agents. And without the owners, these players don't get paid millions to PLAY HOCKEY FOR A LIVING!

In saying what you just said, wouldn't you think the owners should get more than a 50/50 share? What financial risk does the player have? Guaranteed contracts, have zero financial risk for the players. If Franzen turns into Cheechoo, he still gets paid a large amount of his contract. If Illitch plays like Cheechoo, he just lost Millions of dollars. The risk/reward is much greater for the owners.

Also, I don't really like the long term contracts, though I feel they should "allow" 1 or 2 per team to be dedicated to keeping "franchise" players of whom the team has drafted and developed. The rest, I would like to see a 5-6 year maximum on. As much fun as it may be to watch a GM paint himself into a corner with $100 million lifetime contracts to lure the top free agents, it really just leads to another lockout coming in the future, and doesn't promote a healthy business model.

The main priority of the CBA, is to keep the business of hockey at a sustainable level. Let's hope both sides can remember that.

In this heat? Are you kidding? I only wear it when I dress up as Gene Simmons, but on ladies, less is better. At least that's my opinion.

Oppressively hot Summer, or bone chilling cold Winter?

#2308748 Trade Ian White?

Posted by BigWillieStyle on 22 June 2012 - 12:11 PM

White is a known commodity, where as Schultz has yet to play an NHL game. I don't think it would be a very smart move on Kenny's part to weaken even more, an already weak defense, just to pander to some snot nosed kid who demands that he starts for an NHL team. You earn your spot with your play in Detroit. If you don't want to buy into the system, there is not much of a future for you as a player here. This, of course, is just my opinion.

Definitely Slash. Guitar players are way cooler than drummers.

Next step above a "diamond" credit card should be:
Plutonium or Uranium?

#2306374 Brad Stuart's rights traded to San Jose

Would have been better if it were Doug Murray. :D

Good luck, Stewie! Thanks for the great years you spent here. You've left us with a whole lot of highlight reel hip checks.

A big hole has just been left in our defense.
