Heard about this last night. Can someone please help me understand something; when it's stated that a player was acquired for "future considerations" as part of the acquisition, what does future considerations actually mean? Is this just a nice way of getting rid of a player and pretending that the trading team got something in return? Is there an official process or piece put in place, so down the road that team has to officially consider a trade offer? I am unclear to what this actually means?? Thanks in advance for any insight.
Future considerations is usually dependent on something happening beyond the deal. A player can't be given up for nothing so I would imagine the deal is something like if Nabakov signs a new deal then San Jose would need to give something. He's retiring so I would imagine there's nothing going to be exchanged. An example of this would be when we got Draper for $1
HI guys, don't very often start a new topic but been having a bit of fun watching the "Road to the Winter Classic 2014" this morning and put together this article on where the stars of the show are now.
I like this trade. Jarnkrok may develop in to a great player, but before the deadline I wanted make sure that come March 6th we still had Tatar, Nyquist, Jurco, Sproul, Oullet, Mrazek, Mantha, Pullkinnen... I prefer these guys so it's not like we sold the family china. Eaves wasn't back in the summer, so effectively a pick and a prospect for a proven centre isn't a high price.
No love for Teemu Pulkkinen? He's doing great his first season in NA.
I've been high on this guy since the draft, hope he can continue at the rate he could be a future star. I've always though that he would either eventually play in the wings top 6 or completely disappear.
I'm of the opinion that if we want to improve and have a legit chance at the cup we need to change the roster. Does that mean Flip is the odd one out? Well the fact he asked 5+ million over 7/8 years it certainly makes it easy for the Redwings brass to cut him loose. He simply isn't worth that, but even if he asked for 3.5/4 million for 3 years would our team progress if we signed him back? I don't think so, I think we'd be back where we started.
