#2683927 DeKeyser re-signed to a 6 year deal

Unless he gets significantly better, if he's the cornerstone of the defense, the team is screwed

You are making good points. I just dont like renting a guy for one game at 750K. Thats dumb. Ericcson and Kindle shpuld fill holes by Friday.

Huskins picking his butt for 750k.

Play with 5 until you can move your guys around that are already in the system and already getting paid.

Kronwall - Lashoff

Ericsson - Smith

Quincey - Kindl

Fixed it for you, the less we play Quincey the better

#2337970 NHL, NHLPA reach tentative agreement on new CBA

Please don't go running back! Stand up for yourselfs and show Bettman and Fehr we won't put up with their crap any longer! Full areans will only give leadership the financial support that what they did to us was right, and we'll probably see another lockout in 8 years.

This is your entertainment dollars we're talking about! Show them what they did to us was wrong!

Totally off-topic, but I love your signature, Kevin.  Even if the league did offer people free Center Ice, I don't have cable in my room (don't even have a TV, more to the point), and the only TV in the house that does have a digital cable hook-up is for family use, so I can't commandeer it to watch hockey.

That said, if I DID have cable TV.....they'd have to offer it to me for free because there's no way in hell I'm giving the NHL a dime of my money.

#2328108 2012 Lockout Watch

One avenue explored by the NHLPA hit a dead end; from Toronto Star:

Dalton McGuinty’s government has rejected a plea from the National Hockey League Players’ Association to help prevent a potential lockout this fall.

At an Aug. 22 meeting with the Ministry of Labour and the NHL in Toronto, the players union asked the province to form a so-called conciliation board, a group of government employees who could help mediate the differences between the union and the league.

Wings are in trouble. Holland blew it on Suter/Parise. Season over from start.

Smith will complement Kronwall nicely, screw Jblow.

Jiri Hudler for the simple fact that he left

#2320227 With cap space to clear, do Flyers become a Wings trade partner?

Posted by Motown4013 on 19 July 2012 - 09:15 AM

Yea even so who r we giving in return nothing is free

on a salary dumps, they are looking for picks and prospects...not more players they need to pay. Our roster would remain virtually the same Id think.

#2319963 Mike Modano pondering comeback?

Posted by gcom007 on 18 July 2012 - 09:05 PM

Not that I think we should sign him, but it's a shame that he's getting so much grief here about his time as a Wing. He never really got a chance to get going so it's hard to say how things might have ended up if not for such a freak incident. It wasn't as if he pulled his groin because he was too old or something; he got sliced open by a skate blade! Who's to say how he might have looked at the end of the season had he been able to get comfortable with his game here? Some say he started slow, and his conditioning wasn't all there, but for an older player, I'm willing to overlook it if he has legs in the playoffs when it counts. I tend to think he would have risen to the occasion if not for the rather major setback. It was a real shame that it had to end that way. I'm not bitter at all; it was just an unfortunate situation that really was out of everyone's control. It could have happened to anyone.

#2292569 Too many damn pretty boys

Posted by Hiei on 18 April 2012 - 08:54 PM

Taken from my post last night in the holland's offseason plan topic:

It is glaringly obvious to me, several others on this forum, and should be to YOU READING THIS NOW, that we need to have a 3rd line or 4th line that needs WRECKERS. Not goons, not speed guys, we need a 3rd line of guys who can:

1. Play the body and win in a collision
2. Shore up team grit
3. Stand up for Howard and stop the snow showering/running bs, because Howard is the only enforcer of the crease we seem to have.
4. Have enough puck handling ability to scoop the biscuit away from a hit player and transition down the ice.

Start naming players and send it off to Holland and Illitch's offices.

#2291949 WCQF Game Four GDT : Predators 3 at Red Wings 1

In 3 games Johan Franzen has one point, the goal that bounced off him into the net.

9 Shots on goal. 8 penalty minutes. -1.

Where's the playoff beast that's the justifies tolerating his half-assed regular season play?

#2291916 Too many damn pretty boys

Posted by newfy on 18 April 2012 - 12:22 AM

There are way too many damn pretty boys trying to finesse themselves around the ice on this wings team. Zetterberg and Datsyuk are the most capable but aren't playing the perimeter. Meanwhile, Hudler and Filpulla havent cut int the middle of the ice or crashed the net yet it seems. Theres a reason Rinne can get this many shots and not allow any goals.

Having skilled guys and all is nice but there needs to be a mix. The best line for the wings has been Cleary and Abdelkader because they actually muck, grind and play playoff style hockey. They've crashed the net and generated chances. I cant believe how many weak outside shots I've seen Filppula take but its embarrassing almost.

This team needs grittier scorers. A not broken down Cleary would be a great start, maybe find a guy to replace an aging Homer as well. That gritty Maltby, Mccarty type playoff scoring is lacking from this team. People say that a 4th line barely matters, but having a fourth line getting all over the goalie is what this team needs. This team is just not greasy enough. Parise is a greasy goal scorer and would be a perfect start

This change starts with getting Hudler outta here. Cool he scored 25 goals, but so would a lot of guys given his linemates and ice time. He's soft and small, even if he crashes the net he does nothing cause he gets manhandled. UFA at years end

Replacing Holmstrom with a guy that plays his style of game is also critical. Trying to find a guy like Hornqvist would be huge for this team. Ryan Jones would be nice. He can score around 20 goals but plays a bit like Homer or Cleary as well.

Hopefully getting some of the bigger guys drafted lately into the line up will help. Sheahan doesnt seem that far off and is a big body that is capable of banging around the net and playing that style. This team needs to get some new garbage men. Babcock must be ready to rip his hair out watchign these guys dance around the outside while Rinne eats up everything.
