Shut up fan babies. Hudler worked his ass of here and made a business decision. Find me one player that improved over the 2 or 3 year span that he did. I for one will welcome him back at 2.x mil. Trade him later if need be.
Steve Downie does it all.Hudler's tooo one-dimensional
My new best friend. Scratch all thoughts of wanting to avoid Vancouver in the first round.
"Once again-it's on" -Ice Cube
You know,it's kinda funny that he says all this from the comfort of an interviewroom.I want Vancouver in the 1st round.I'd like to see him back up what hef****** has to say about this team and this city.I'm sure every time Vancouver comes into Detroit,he's silent as hell and doesn't say anything. He's a spineless little prick. This guy's a joke.Put him in the streets of Detroit and see if he disses the city itself.Detroit would eat him alive.Bring on the 'Nucks.
Did I not make myself clear when I explained why Hudler is a better option than Downie? A player who has been CONSISTENTLY getting better with 3rd line minutes (and 3rd line teammates) over a player who gets to line up with a 40+ goal scorer and a 90+ pt Hart/Pearson winner (and hasn't even matched the point totals of Hudler's 08-09 season yet)?
He's lazy on defense. He's inconsistent. He chokes under pressure situations. He wants to be the star of the team but he can't hack it when they put him on the 2nd line.He doesn't know what backchecking means and he has never finished a check in his life.Downie is a much better fit here.He plays with a lot more heart and he gives it all every single game.
With the NHL season close to being finished this means it will soon be the off season and free agency. I was just curious to see what other people though would be the Wings moves this off season. Here is what I think the Wings will do during the off season.
Lets start with the forwards. Helm, Maltby, Abdelkader, Miller, Williams, Bertuzzi, Eaves, and Holmstrom contracts are up. I think Eaves, Miller, and Helm are a lock to be resigned they play key energy roles and pk roles. Abdelkader will also be signed he is young and has plenty of potential. Bertuzzi has been a pleasant surprise for the wings and they should sign him for another year. Holmstrom has been as valuable as he always has looks like he got a few more years in him and the wings will surely sign him again. That leaves Maltby and Williams. For the most part Williams have shown glimpse of scoring touch but other then that he been pretty invisible. I do not believe he will be resigned. I also think Maltby might retire or the wings just won't sign him. So that is roughly 2.4 million off the cap. I do realize I have no accounted for the raise player like Helm and Eaves are going to receive we are just going to presume the raise the players get are going to be counter balanced by the pay decrease of others because well I have no idea who will get payed what and I am just trying to make conversation
Now the defense. We have Lidstrom, Lebda, Meech, and Lilja. Obviously we are going to want Lidstrom the big question is will he play or not and if he does how much will he play for. If he doesn't thats 7.5 million of cap space open up. If he does I can see him playing for anywhere between 2 million and 5 million. So Nick is going to open us up too 2.5 million and 5.5 million with a hall a fame d-man or 7.5 million looking for a replacement not really sure. Just for the best case scenario we will say Lidstrom plays one more year for 3 million that open up for 4.5 million dollars. I think Lilja will stay because he has stabilized or back end quite a bit since his return so he will probably get a one year contract. With Kindl coming up that leaves 7 defense men so Lebda and Meech will not be resigned. So thats an additional 1 million freed of the cap.
So in this scenario we would have 12 forwards, 7 defense and 7.9 million in cap space not including if the cap increase. I won't even get into the goal tending situation because I have no idea how Holland is going to fix that because I don't think you could really on Howard for an entire season with Osgood backing him up as bad as he has played this year and last.
Any ways let me know if you have any opinions or predictions on the Red Wings off season.
If Hudler does come back, this lineup is totally messed up.But for now,im gonna assume he's not back.Trade away Brian Rafalski and sign Brent Seabrook.Let Lilja go and sign Andrew Alberts.Let Bertuzzi and Williams go.Sign Colby Armstrong,Kyle Chipchura, and Brian Sutherby to one-year deals. We should be left with a little cap space.
I stopped reading after the bolded part. I think it's hilarious that you assume because your ecstatic about Hudler's POTENTIAL return that everyone else will be. I'm not at all happy about the Red Wings being forced to take back a player who sucked this year (and wasn't amazing before) regardless of who it is.
Not like this post isn't something you haven't posted 5 times before whining about wanting Hudler back.
What a post i don't want this little ******* back in Detroit. He whines about his playing time but when Babcock put him on the 1st and 2nd lines he couldn't hack it.I have no clue why so many people are so excited about him possibly coming back.I'd rather see Kenny go out and pick up someone with a little more snarl, like what about Ryan Malone? He may be pricey but he's what we need in my opinion.I'd take Dean McAmmond orColby Armstrong over Hudler anyday as well.
By the way-- I hate that the NHL, as a league, bend over for network tv worse than any other sport. We have zero bargaining power. NBC wants the Cup Finals moved ahead a week? Bettman says "yes sir!".
Holy crap that would be cool looking. Really bizarre but definitely cool.
Didn't Gretzky play an exhibition in Vegas back in the 90's?
This whole idea of Crosby vs. Ovechkin in the Winter Classic is such a crock of s***.Pittsburgh just played Buffalo a few years ago in the Classic.Jesus Christ, there's many more teams besides s***tsburgh in this league.Yes,Crosby vs. Ovechkin would be great, but seriously what about the other great hockey regions that haven't even been involved in a Winter Classic yet, like Minnesota,St.Louis,Montreal,Ottawa,Toronto,Vancouver,Calgary,Edmonton,Colorado,New Jersey, etc.I don't care whether NBC doesn't make profit off of Canadian teams. That's a crock of s*** too.If the Winter Classic is really about promoting the game of hockey, they will put the games wherever they would get the most exposure, regardless of thef****** profits involved. The money will come later if the game is exposed in the right place.
I don't understand why people don't what Huds back he could easily put up 70pts on either the 1st or 2nd line of this team. How can you complain about getting a guy back like this when this team has a overpayed underpreforming Dan Cleary on the 2nd line? He has been a ghost this season along with the on and off again play with Bertuzzi. Hudler is a great young player which will help this team and give us a much better 2nd unit PP.
I don't want him back in Detroit. He may be able to put up 40-50 points, but for the amount of ice time he got when he was here before,he should more like 65-80.He's not defensively responsible. He doesn't know what backcheck or forecheck means.I'd rather see Detroit go after a more well rounded player.
