#1989824 Red Wings patiently waiting for Lidstrom's decision

Posted by Bring Back The Bruise Bros on 26 May 2010 - 12:20 AM

Hudler may not have Helm's hustle or Zetterberg's defense, but he works hard and is above average defensively, neither of which can be said of Bertuzzi. He's also more than a decade younger and a better offensive player. He fits the Wings' system better as well.

Just FYI.

Hudler's defensive contribution is not much better than Bert's,but Hudler will do more offensively.Yes,Bertuzzi is a lot bigger, but he doesn't use his size ever so it doesn't even matter.People are saying we need to get younger, well letting Bert walk would be a good start. He's not a horrible player, but with Hudler coming back,he'll probably end up with 3rd line duty, which requires some defense, which Bert lacks majorly. There are better options than Bert.

Zenon Konopka or Aaron Downey and I don't think the Flyers are going to let him go anywhere but of they do Dan Carcillo

Konopka would be nice. He's one of the better faceoff guys in the league and he's tough as nails and he's cap friendly

#1988970 The Curse of Marian Hossa

Posted by Bring Back The Bruise Bros on 24 May 2010 - 01:12 PM

He doesn't deserve the Cup based on the way he's played.

The only time in his career he had a great playoff was for the Pens in 2008.

My worst nightmare is Patrick Kane then Marian Hossa skating with the Cup and then passing it along to Dustin Byfuglien.

plekanec for bertuzzi

The only problem with Plekanec is his price tag.I'd like to see Owen Nolan on the 3rd line, taking Bertuzzi's place,as Hudler will move to the 2nd line.

#1988660 Homer Contract Disussion

I think homer could get 3 million per for 2 years if he wanted it, but he's going to have to leave town to do it. We're not going to be able to keep all these guys until they retire. Every year the game keeps getting faster and younger. Homer could easily take another step down again next season. His skating is already so bad, he's mostly a PP guy as it is. Holland is going to have to make some tough decisions. Both Homer and Bert want multi yr deals and both are over 35. He might only be able to get one.

Another year being jammed up against the cap so we can't make any moves at the deadline. Holland must remember, this team isn't a cup winner or runner up. WE lost in the second round in 5 games. We need to improve not be stagnant.

Let Bertuzzi walk.If Holmstrom wants too much,i hate to say it,but let him walk.We need to get younger and faster like you mentioned.Signing a pair of 35+ year olds to multi-year contracts won't do it for us.

Had this been a Finnish hockey forum, I think there would be most people agreeing with what I said.

I'm sorry. Hockey just isn't as big there as it is in here. Hockey doesn't mean as nearly as much to Americans as it means to Finns.

Of course a Finnish forum would agree with you,but this isn't a Finnish forum,is it?

How the hell did this go from Hudler to Finnish players?

Dumbass from Finland made a comment about American hockey which we,naturally, took offense too.

Did I say "Finland hockey"? No. I said Finland and USA.

If I say Finland plays like this and USA plays like that and Germany plays like that how am I not referring to the national teams? To what am I referring then? I think the international games show perfectly what kinda identities different countries have. Czechs don't play like Canada in the international games because they've got different type of players. It may change slightly when the players or coach change, but the identity stays there still. Finland has always have much common with Canada in their style of play.

Please don't act like Saku Koivu or Niklas Hagman is a STAR. You obviously know that USA has much better material on the paper. There's no need to even argue that. Hagman and Saku Koivu wouldn't even make the USA team. I doubt Selanne would either. Also, like I said there can only be one goalie in the net at a time so having depth there won't help much in international tournaments.

How has team Finland any more time to practice than Team USA? Anyway, to blame the ice-size isf****** ridiculous. You lose to Germany and Denmark and go to the qualifying games with the best material of the group. Of course the ice-size matters but it doesn't matter much at all when looking at the big picture. If we compare Team Finland and Team USA the ice-size is pretty small advantage when you think about the material of Team USA. And no matter how big the ice is, it's pretty pathetic that Team USA is qualifying.

"So you're saying that guys like Mikko Koivu, Saku Koivu, Tuomo Ruutu and Teemu Selanne have less heart than Brett Lebda?"

"Haha. So Brett Lebda is the basic American player in your opinion? You're so frikin stupid that its not worth the time to try to even argue with you."

sign 3 guys and watch us get back to the cup. frolov, volchenkov and lombardi. all are in their mid 20s young. frolov on a line with datsyuk is deadly. lombardi to boost up our third or fourth line which lacked in scoring this yrs playoff. and obviously volchenkov if nick retires. let holmstrom slow skating penalty eating walk. ive always liked homer but this yr in the playoffs his silly penaltys really cost us some big goals. we need more speed and it showed vs the yotes and sharks. its obivous others teams are catching the wings puck postion ways. chicago which imulates our style along with the sharks have caught us. i think adding these three would upgrade our team speed, grit and scoring. i think holland could get a nice deal cap friendly for a guy like frolov who didnt put up numbers in la like he could here in detroit

Eric Nystrom for the fourth line.Get rid of Lilja and sign Sheldon Brookbank.Ryan Malone adds a little bit of scoring and grit.Lombardi would be okay too.A lot of this depends on what Lidstrom and Holmstrom do.

LOL. I was comparing Team Finland's playing style with Team USA and Team Canada. How does it have anything to do with those individual players you are naming? Learn to read people.

USA have always had much more skilled players than Team Finland. We have never been amongst the favourites, yet we have been able to win the most olympic medals since -88. Working hard and working together has always been the label of Team Finland.

Did I say Team USA doesn't have any heart or what?

I was comparing Team Finland's playing style with Team USA. Team Finland plays more like Team Canada than Team USA does. Please read through the other arguments instead of just replying to one post.

Please read through the whole conversation before posting a stupid reply regarding one post.

We were talking about Team Finland, Team USA and Team Canada. Understand? Doesn't have s*** to do with the players you've played against in your childhood.

First of all, those are Canadian players you're naming. Learn to read (also, learn to write). Did I say someone has "no heart"? No, I don't think so.

How does one player like OJ or Leino being something anything to do with Team Finland's style of play?

Just an all around iditoc reply by you. So much fail in that post that I'm not gonna even comment any further about it.

Team USA have always had much more skill than Team Finland. Yet somehow Team Finland has had about equal or better results for the past twenty years. We've never had any real scorers or stars. Team Finland has always been about working hard together.

Also, you do understand that there are over 300 million people living in the United States. There are 5 million people living in Finland. Finland has more NHL players per capita than USA.

So lemme get this straight..correct me if i'm possibly misunderstanding this again but..American players, such as David Backes,Brooks Orpik(although i hate his guts),Ryan Malone, and Tim Gleason don't have as much heart and they don't work as hard as players such as Olli Jokinen?I rest my case.

I hope his agent is just being a dick, because we cant give out 2mil+ for multiple years to a 37 year old who can barely skate. I love Homer to death, but loyalty cant screw us again like it did with Draper. I just cant see Homer getting greedy given where the Wings are money wise and franchise wise, just cant see it.

Don't get me wrong,I love Homer,but if he's gonna get greedy when he's 37 and demands a raise in salary ALONG WITH a multi-year deal,see ya.goodbye.

Finnish players have more heart and they work harder.

So Yzerman and Shanahan didnt have heart?McCarty didn't have heart?none of them worked hard? What about a guy like Mike Richards?he doesn't have heart or work hard? What a ridiculously stupid comment to make when you have nothing to back it up.Olli Jokinen does not have what I consider heart.Everyone knows he causes problems within the team he's playing for.Just an all around idiotic thing to say.wow.

#1987863 Holland Wants Bert Back

Posted by Bring Back The Bruise Bros on 21 May 2010 - 10:43 AM

May as well let him go then and actually get someone that would be useful on the 4th line.

It would free up some cap space as well.Raffi Torres and Brad Winchester. Please and thank you.

#1987415 4th line options

Posted by Bring Back The Bruise Bros on 19 May 2010 - 09:59 PM

I'd love to see any of those guys in a Wings uniform, but I doubt we'll wind up with any bonafide enforcer.

A guy like Nystrom or Asham is probably what we'll wind up with. Then again, even that may not happen.

Holland brought in Williams of all people last year, and didn't he say that he was looking for more grit at that time? <_<

i know.Thats a list of like 50.Any of those i'll be happy with.Jesus Kenny just bring rock em sock em back to Detroit :ranting:
