#2510175 ECQF - Series C - Penguins versus Blue Jackets

Posted by unsaddleddonald on 17 April 2014 - 10:59 AM

If a player has position on him it shouldn't be interference, and the wings have been called on a lot of those this year, even when we had the position on the guy trying to get by.

I can agree with that, but what I saw being called were penalties like Scuderi's where the puck was chipped past him and then he proceeded to skate in front of the guy's skating space to slow him down. That should be a penalty every time.

Sheahan will never be a legit 1C. He slots in to be a 3rd line center on a healthy team. Good defensively, can chip in, but shouldn't be expected to perform above that.

I would think that a player with his shot and his passing ability can do better than a 3rd line center...

Wheter people like or not Amac would have gotten the same if not more on the open market Holmer knew it. You aren't going to get a young top pairing defenseman under 7 mill anymore thanks to the stupid CBA so why shouldn't second pairing guys cash in for giving their bodies to the team? At some point people have to understand the time for giving hometown discounts is gone and the owners brought it to themselves by employing a midget and locking out the players 3 times in a row. So instead of bitching about the deal why not grats Amac? He finally gets to play for an organization which will spend to the cap instead of lowballing their players. Also there is no purpose in having a hard cap, if leagues want a cap it should be MLB like.

We're annoyed because it is guys like Paul Holmgren who have created this "reality". Throwing money at guys who don't deserve it.

I don't care who you play for, a d-man worth $5M per doesn't finish -22 and 28 points. Every defenseman should be judge on a Nick Lidstrom scale. How much did the best d-man of the generation make in his last year? $6M?

Paul Holmgren being Paul Holmgren.

It's idiot GMs like him that create salary mismatches like this. He just set the market for the thin UFA d-men this year. I expect Niskanen to make $15M per.

Once upon a time Nashville also had Cody Franson and Ryan Suter.

I want their defensive scout...

#2488473 Marty St. Louis wants out because The Captain hurt his feelings

Posted by unsaddleddonald on 02 March 2014 - 12:52 AM

I figure this is relevant to us because it involves The Captain.

With a hint of bias, this really is ridiculous. He wants out for no other reason than because Stevie didn't pick him to play on his team (originally). Seems pretty unprofessional to me. This must be why Stevie stepped down: too many cry babies whining about not being picked.

This guy spells it out nicely ---> http://sports.yahoo....55336--nhl.html

#2488436 Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?

Posted by unsaddleddonald on 01 March 2014 - 09:21 PM

Cowen (retarded) in the play for Stewart

Geez, Mule must have really gotten to them with that "can't play hockey". Neil's replacement being brought in?

#2488263 Ryan Miller, Steve Ott traded to St. Louis Blues

To me this kind of feels like what Pittsburgh did last year...

They're rolling and then they seemingly make a move for the sake of making a move.

#2488048 Ryan Miller, Steve Ott traded to St. Louis Blues

Posted by unsaddleddonald on 28 February 2014 - 09:53 PM

Ok, I guess you guys need to set me straight because I am seeing a large overpayment from the Blues....

  • Miller (age 33) is an upgrade over Halak (age 28) but I think their value is quite close.
  • Stewart is a top 6 forward and has more value than Ott who is a bottom 6 forward.
  • Prospect and two draft picks (one being a 1st rounder)

What am I missing here?

#2481167 So what do we call the 26 - 15 - 21 line?

The Borrowed Time Line

#2478025 Babcock's comments on playing time

Posted by unsaddleddonald on 28 January 2014 - 10:11 AM

This is just like every other Babcock cliche.  It's not saying much to say "the best players will play" when there's no competition for jobs at the moment.  Bring Dats, Z, and Weiss back and there will be, and I'd be amazed if "the best player played".

He might as well say, "the best player (who can effectively alleviate cap constraints) will play".  Which is no different than two months ago when Tootoo and Eaves were waived.

Talk is cheap.  It's time for Holland and Babs to actually DO SOMETHING to prove that "the best players will play".  And that doesn't mean waiving Sammy either.

Well, the blame is passed from one to the other in different circumstances.

It is on Babcock when he can pick and choose who he wants to play and he picks incorrectly.

It is on Holland when everyone is healthy, and we have to send down guys who make the team better because he kept signing a bunch of guys we didn't need.

#2476193 Turning point!?!?!

Posted by unsaddleddonald on 22 January 2014 - 11:33 PM

Montreal is not a bad team.  That will be a tough game.

Florida is a team we've had trouble with for whatever reason, although we did beat them last time.

My point is, if we can play like that against Chicago, we have no business losing to Montreal or Florida.

This team needs to stop playing to the level of it's competition and start to take care of business.

Negative Nancy time.

This win doesn't mean a DAMN thing if we don't beat Montreal and Florida in these next two games.

If we can play like that against Chicago, we have no business losing to those two teams.
