#2378564 Official NHL Trade Deadline thread

Posted by unsaddleddonald on 02 April 2013 - 11:13 AM

Good to see that Kenny isn't going to give up that 1st round pick so easily.  With such a deep draft this coming offseason, I'd be surprised to see the Wings make many trades involving draft picks.

I would give up the 1st round pick if it landed us Vanek. Maybe Gaborik.

No one else.

Makes me wonder why Brunner never played significantly with Datsyuk.  You know, a shooter with a playmaker.  Novel.

Logic does not belong in this hockey season.

At least he REALIZES what we need.

Acting on it is something different.

#2377725 Mr Holland.....

I keep pointing this out: Gaborik doesn't magically term the Wings into a contender. What he does do is force the Wings to sell their future for a slight bump in their tiny chances of going anywhere this season. If Hollands stands pat this year it would only be a bad move, not the terrible one like everyone seems to have a hardon for.

He scores goals.

The rest of the roster? Doesn't score goals.

I agree we aren't a Marian Gaborik away from being elite, but a Marian Gaborik is they type of guy we need to add in order to move forward.

And also thanks for landing the top UFA D-man in Doug Dekeyser that everybody was after.

Did we sign Danny's brother?!

What is going on here?

Ken Holland better get someone at the Trade Deadline on Wednesday or before. It's time for him to do something instead of him staying pat again. It's embarrassing seeing my favorite team lose like this. When I have to deal with my father who is a Montreal Canadians Fan teasing me about the game he still things where not going to make the playoff I think we are.

Tell your father that his team was the joke of the league no more than one year ago.....

This team has zero speed and zero quickness.

#2376568 Top 6 fwd next?

Posted by unsaddleddonald on 30 March 2013 - 07:09 PM

Streaky?  Right.  They guy hasn't put up fewer than 20 goals since his rookie year (18) except in 08-09 when he had 13 goals and 10 assists in 17 games played.  You can say a lot of things about Marian Gaborik, but any way you look at it the guy's an elite goal scorer.

Lol at any Red Wing fan who wouldn't want Gaborik on this team.

#2375003 Ray Shero making the NHL his *****

Posted by unsaddleddonald on 28 March 2013 - 09:20 AM

If a couple of 34/35 year old role players and a goalie prospect are 'high end' trades, you must be watching a different league than the rest of us.

Lol, come on. To call Iginla a role player is flat out BS.

He got 3 players: Iginla, Morrow, and Murray

What did he give up?

3 prospects (including one of their highest defensive prospects)

1 first round draft pick in one of the deepest classes we've seen of recent

2 second round draft picks in one of the deepest classes we've seen of recent

1 fifth round draft pick

I'm sorry but the only real big move I like was Iginla. It's nice and never a bad thing to add in two captains and a big defensemen but man did he give up some future.

Some future yes, but this is a pretty young team as it is.

The kicker, for me, is the roster players. Receiving two captains and not having to give up a Kunitz/Kennedy/Dupuis/Sutter? Seems like Dallas and Calgary couldn't wait to get rid of them.

Go root for the Pens then

I'm just saying Shero is being aggressive.

In the last week or so, there have been really only 3 higher end trades made and all of them include Pittsburgh.

If there was one team that DIDN'T need to make a move, it was probably Pittsburgh.

He has added one big defenseman and two long time captains and what has he given up? One top prospect (none of their top 5 prospects) and crap picks. NO roster players given up.

Ray Shero is the best GM in hockey. Granted Sidney Crosby fell into his lap and if the 04-05 lockout didn't happen Crosby most likely would have been drafted somewhere else, but that is a different argument.

#2374271 I hate to admit this but....

I'll be devil's advocate and disagree.

Although he hasn't been completely atrocious, every time he pinches, look out.

The scariest plays with Ian White are the ones where he is the guy that needs to keep the puck in the zone at the blueline. Twice in the game Sunday he found himself in that spot and twice he gave up a 2 on 1. If he fails at that spot, he lacks the athleticism to recover.
