Maybe it is because I always take not when I hear it, but does it seem to you guys that whenever a local guy (whether from Michigan or from a Michigan university) is playing a nationally televised game, the broadcasters tend to point them out?
For example, Doc Emrick always seems to mention Abby and Mills coming from State. Pierre just mentioned Torey Krug is from Livonia/MSU.
When watching Rangers games, Hagelin from UofM is always mentioned.
I'm not necessarily attacking anyone here as much as I'm attacking the media who continue to bring this up (plus I was listening to the podcast on Wingin' It in Motown where one of the guys shared the sentiment).
Corey Crawford OWNS....OWNS the Red Wings.
Career record since taking over in 2010-2011 (including Game 1): 12-1-21.77 GA .943 Save %
Wings scored more than 2 goals only 3 times (all wins) in those 15 games.
He may not have a Stanley Cup, but he isn't a weakness for them. Especially against the Red Wings.
Ducks' forecheck continued to give the Wings issues. Everytime Kindl or Quincey were in behind the net, I held my breath.
Break the forecheck by quick outlets which requires your D to be able to recognize and make quick and correct decisions.
Anaheim has been able to keep this strategy up due to our lack of overall team speed I think. We can't get up the ice quick enough to really make them pay for being so agressive.
On the flip side, we don't offer up much of a forecheck. Again, due to lack of overall team speed to be able to get back into the play.
