    Yzerman - Lidstrom Discussion

Lidstrom right now>Yzerman in 2006. Obviously losing Lidstrom is a much bigger blow.

If you honestly want the team to tank (which is the worst business philosophy you can think of) then you are no Wings fan. And when it comes to lack of "heart": this is Babcock hockey. Ever since 06 this team has pissed away leads in the third because they have hung back into a terrible defensive game, and only because of the amazing puck possession and talent of the 07-09 teams they were able to get away with it. Now that the talent is not there, the Wings are unable to hold a lead because they aren't talented enough to keep the puck on their sticks long enough and they get sustained pressure in their own end multiple times. It pains me to see a guy like Howard (who wasn't great but wasn't the cost of this game) possibly on the road to having a downswing of a career because the team is unable to understand what a third period lead means.

What is it with Mike Babcock teams that seem to always piss away 3rd period leads in crucial games? This is getting ridiculous. Also REBOUNDS HOWARD.

Howard's first goal against was due to a rebound he gave right to Duncan Keith.

Doesn't change the fact Howard has been giving the Hawks some juicy rebounds to keep pressure in the Wings zone. One of which turned into a goal.

Howard isn't being blamed for the shots that went in. He is being blamed for rebounding the puck directly to Hawks players. Consistently.

Why can't you just say it? Howard with some awful rebound control and Lebda overskating the puck with a Filpulla turnover.

Stuart needs to understand what it means to lift the stick.

So far: Howard looking iffy on occassion. Great save on that first goal if not for Draper being lazy, but what an awful goal to give up to Colorado nobody to have it tied. That call was iffy. Needs video review. Babcock has been giving up leads like it is his job. What is the matter with you? Red Wings aren't getting "screwed" because great teams respond to adversity. This team is not. Get it done and don't use the "referees" as an excuse as to why you aren't winning. Franzen is money in a Wings jersey.

Let me guess, you only look at the stats to judge how well a goaltender is playing? And based on one period you believe that makes sense? Forgive me for laughing.

What do you mean down too early? The entire point is to be DOWN on the shot. I have no problem seeing Howard in net BTW because he is just bigger and these strange bounces will probably just hit him more often than not.

If they aren't horrible goals then the goaltender shouldn't be at fault for them. First was wide open net after a perfect pass (Osgood had to block the net from the shooter and commit to him) Second was right over the shoulder after a behind the net pass. Third was a tip. I'd like to know where the defense is in all of this. How many games are they just going to forget what to do in waves like this?

I challenge any one of you to blame any of those goals on the goaltender. Jesus Christ.
  15. I think there are very few who aren't applauding May's efforts. The sarcastic jabs at ESAD deal with his demeanor towards the whole "enforcer" discussion.
