Datsyuk & Zetterberg have been split up

Well, it's about FRIGGIN TIME!!! Lets see how many shifts Babs goes through before putting D and Z back together... I've never really disagreed with much Babs has ever done, but keeping these two together is flat out stupid to me. Wings no longer have the luxury of keeping them together, there isn't enough talent on the team's top 6 to put our two best centers on one line.
  2. Chonmon

Why are D and Z STILL together?

I mean I know their history folks, that's undeniable. The fact of the matter is, when things aren't working... they're not working. Babs has changed nearly every line, but continues to keep D and Z together. I may be one of the few, but I like the team much better when they're split up. We actually have two legitimate, crazy dangerous lines. The second pairing, though good at the start of the season, have become crap! Split up our Eurotwins and put support around them. On another note, please correct if you think I'm wrong. I know most are calling for Huds and Bert's heads at this point, but what about Filppula? Man, I'm tired of seeing his mediocrity and nancy-boy play in the offensive zone. It's almost like you can predict EXACTLY what Fil will do with the puck. If I can do that from my couch, I'm sure the pros know what he's going to do too.

Brendan Smith suspended for 5 games

OK, so the movement "immediately prior too or in conjunction with" the hit has to be "significant" now... What started off as clear cut rules, all the sudden gets painted with subjectivity. I don't know how I feel about this one... Well, maybe I do! I thought for sure they would take into consideration that Ben dipped "immediately prior to and in conjunction with" the hit. Although it is still a hit to the head, "reckless," and Ben got hurt... I swore the punishment would be lessened for this reason. Babs is right, the responsibility is ENTIRELY on the hitter. Another note: When I compare this hit to what Wisniewski did, my stomach hurts... The only thing I can think of is if Clutterbuck was knocked out on the play (as Ben Smith was here) Wiz would have been banned 16 games. Wiz blatantly targeted the head, after the GAME WAS OVER, and has a long history of "dirty" play. Brenden hasn't even made a footprint in the league, "recklessly" hits the head of a player that should have protected himself better, and gets more than half of what Wiz got.

    2011-2012 Schedule Magnet

Would greatly appreciate it!!! Maybe if I call them and start throwing prices to them they would mail me one.
  5. Ok, real fast. Wings fan since before puberty, some people say I'm obsessed, tons of family in Michigan, born and raised in Northern Ohio, still live in Ohio, I love the CBJ UNTIL they face the Wings then I HATE them, got in several fights in 2009 playoffs when Wings spanked CBJ LOL, Lidstrom IS just as much as a pillar to the Red Wings organization as Yzerman and I will cry when he retires...

    2011-2012 Schedule Magnet

Thanks for the response! I love your Crosby opinion there, lol. You have a great idea there about approaching the board. I hope someone will sell it on ebay. All I am finding are crappy "home made" magnets so far and none of them look half as good as the official ones from last year. I'll keep looking, and thank you. sad for Mursak, Chonmon

    2011-2012 Schedule Magnet

Good day to all my fellow Wings Fans!!! This is going to be an exciting season there eh? I am writing to find out if there is ANY way possible to order an OFFICIAL schedule magnet to be mailed to my home in Ohio. Attending the home opener will not be possible for me, but I need a magnet... my fridge will feel naked this season without one. Thanks to you all for reading, and here's to the (kinda/sorta) youth movement!
  8. Funny how after last night's game Jimmy has proven that he is our starter, and we are all very fortunate to have #35. Osgood says it'd be great if he could steal a game after letting in 5 friggin' goals, then jimmy comes in the next game and steals it. It's pretty obvious who the better goal tender is RIGHT NOW. Osgood is shaky, rusty, over-thinking, and most importantly he's lost all his confidence (which is huge for tenders). Pretty obvious the stuff Ozzy has done for this team, but Jimmy is our #1. Only a fool would think otherwise at this point.

1/29 GDT: Predators 2 at Red Wings 4

Prediction: 4-3 shootout loss for wings. Nashville is desperate right now and determined to win. We've been desperate for 4 games and still can't figure out how to win. I sound pessimistic, but as a hockey fan in general I just don't see this team improving. Their confidence is shot, they all look like they're thinking too much, and all these injured players coming back need games under their belt b4 playing well again. What's worse is our schedule gets 3X harder starting tonight and on through February. We're playing really good teams at a time when our roster is being improved, but our players wont be up to game pace due to their injuries. Compounding all of this, chemistry may AGAIN be an issue for this team as players come back. With the way this team is playing now I think they'll be in 9th or 10th place by the Olympic break and their chances will come down to a season ending miracle. Maltby talked in Nov or Dec about how if the wings haven't corrected certain issues with the team by February then there will be a real cause for concern. Osgood is talking about trying to steal games for the wings (lol!) and a team motto of "don't give up." Holland is talking about games being "incredibly important." Babcock is frustrated. I don't think it's time anymore to stand by and think "well, they're the red wings they'll be ok." The team seems to have all but pressed the panic button. They need to turn it around at a time when their next 10 games are against: NSH, PIT, SAN, ANA, LA, ST. LOUIS, SAN, OTT, COL, VAN. Saying that this team will go 5 and 5 through these games is being more than generous at this point (I mean come on!) which gives the wings 69 points at the end of the 1st week of March. That's 1 point ahead of Vancouver if they go 0-10 in their next 10 games and 2 points ahead of phx If they go 0 - 10. See my point here. This ship has holes in her and she's beginning to drown and the players/management seem to feel it. February may be worse than January was and this fan is shaking in his boots... It's gonna take a miracle run at the end of the season to get that 8th spot this year.

1/27 GDT: Red Wings 2 at Wild 5

The whole team sucks... osgood is just a part of this mess... though a significant part.

haha He said just what every wings fan has been thinking. I'm glad he had the gusto to say that to Lidstroms face.

ALL RIGHT!!! Can't wait to see the wings piss another game away! The Detroit Red Wings: the only team in the NHL where if your team is down by 2 goals you're actually in great shape. Honestly, they don't deserve to be in the playoffs right now. I know, it's a rant... I feel a teency bit better lol.

"We don't have a natural goal scorer"

Ya I know, I was just saying when you look at the lines on paper, or watch lines play the result is the same. mediocre/bad. our team is hurt, and doesn't have the depth to cover themselves. Remember when Eaves was signed and sent to GR? Now he's on our 3rd line. Abby is OUR 2ND LINE CENTER... haha i mean come on. Well over half our ranks are not producers... so it's obvious why we can't score.
  14. Chonmon

"We don't have a natural goal scorer"

Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Leino-Abdelkader-Bertuzzi Draper-Helm-Eaves May-Miller-Maltby This is our offence I mean come on guys look at the lines, okay, now look at them again and let it soak in. I know players/coaches are just itching to say "they can't win because they don't have the talent, because of injuries" but they can't because that'd be unprofessional ect. Now with Leino subbing in for clears it's gonna be even worse now, but we weren't doing well before cleary got injured so.... This is what we have in my opinion: 1 GREAT line (that is underachieving thus far). 2nd line is headed by a hard-checking 3rd or 4th line center who is probably going to average less than 20 goals a year for his career. Can we really expect anything from him that matches 20 goals yearly? That's approximately 20 some percent of the time he'll score.... that's a pretty lofty expectation. Flanked by a "rookie" who has some promise, but doesn't seem to continue to work hard; regardless he wont be a heavy contributer THIS year. Bert... well I'll leave that up to you to decide. 3rd line: Really fast, forechecking machine. I love 'em but come on guys... MAYBE one out of the three will get 20 goals, and you have to admit, that is wishful thinking at this point. 4th line: None will bust 20 goals. May wont break 5. Miller is in the wrong environment to work on his game. He's not winning, the team isn't winning, and he is not learning the red wing mentality of believing you can win every game. That's what motivated Cleary back in the day, the winning mentality/professional mentality. Miller is only learning the professional side this year. Winning seems to be pretty sparce. "winning is contageous" Mike Babcock said that, and miller unfortunately isn't being exposed to it and his potential will not be realized as long as the whole team continues slumping. Maltby... he's trusty, knows how to compete, hard working, but with the rest of the team being so awful at contributing points it's hard to appreciate maltby's hard working game these days. For the most part our team can't score for s***. And i'm not talking about the last couple of games, i'm talking overall. Look at what pace our top players are on pace to finnish up the season with: we got 2 approx 30 goal scorers 2 20 goal scorers and the stats fall south from there. Why do you think management has been stressing defence so much this year? Cuz they know we can't score. Problem is, save for last night and a few other games this year, our defence is terrible too. Our only hope is an awe-inspiring push at the end of the season when we get our injured players back. I think reality has set in on me... we're at 30 games this season and I really haven't seen anything to be truly happy with. I love my team, but I'm not blind. I think they're headed way down the standings this year.... and it pains me to say this (for the first time in a long long time) but i'd be happy if we simply made the playoffs. Sincerely, One darn anxious/fearfull red wing fan

11/28 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Blues 3 (SO)

Well, I think our crap streak continues because now low moral is choking the wings. Mason will further prove that it's not hot goaltenders that we've been facing lately, it's that we fire easy saves most of the time. 3-2 Blues.
