Considering I read on another board that the brilliant Preds fans are planning to chant "Z's a Sissy" in the next game, I believe I will refrain from trolling the Preds or their fans in any way. I wouldn't want to sink as low as they are.
I am a big fan of cheering FOR my team, however. I love the guys we have. I think the home crowd will only do their hearts good. Blow the roof off cheering for them, local folks!!
I went the other direction, landed in Dublin and left 11 days later, from Shannon on the west side of the Republic. We didn't make it to Northern Ireland, but I hope to, someday.
We started in Dublin (and retrospectively, would have skipped it), drove south through the Wicklows to Waterford, then to Cobh (must see, County Cork) then to Adare (must see) and from there to the Cliffs of Moher (simply stunning) and the Rock of Cashel (Munster). We stayed in Adare and took a ferry (car)at Kilrush to make day trips to Cliffs of Moher and the Rock of Cashel.
Of course, you can't skip Blarney Castle - you must go and kiss the Blarney Stone.
Places to visit "along the way" - pick and choose, since you don't have much time:
- Powers Court palace and Gardens, Wicklow, fabulous gardens and a restored mansion. Beautiful.
- Jameson Distillery - well worth the drive, amazing! Also in County Cork
- Waterford Crystal (in Waterford) - seeing the artists at work is mesmerizing...
- Jerpoint Abbey (County Kilkenny) ancient Cistercian abbey... guide was phenomenal, telling the history
- Castle Cahir (County Tipperaray) sooo amazing... probably the best preserved castle in Ireland, lots of movies are shot there.
Cobh is famous for having been the last place the Titanic was moored, before the fateful maiden/final voyage.
We couldn't get near the Book of Kells at Trinity College in Dublin... huge crowds in line for that. The Guinness distillery tour was OK. You might enjoy that.
Wings in 6. I am not afraid of the Preds and like that the match-up is closer to home, so time zone issues won't be a problem... or excuse. The Wings simply MUST play the entire game, and not the last 10 minutes of the 4rd, or they're done for, however. Preds will not roll over, by any stretch.
As for Peckerini, he has the edge on size -- Jimmy simply can't make himself into a 6'5" giant. I have no reservations about Jimmy Howard. None. He's proved over and over this season that he's the reason we're in a lot of games at all. Jimmy's quick and our D will step up. We have more depth across the board, aside from goal. Equalizer! Offense scares me more, however, I think several players have another gear (Mule, I am looking at you) which I sincerely hope they engage for this round.
Can the Wings bring it? Yes, I believe they can do this. One period, one game, one round at a time.
Sounds like posturing to me. Like, if the Wings win then it doesn't mean anything because the Boos don't have anything to play for. Shenanigans. Why would this game not be huge to the Blues as well? They may have the division locked up but not the season-series against the Wings. The Blues have won 2 games against the Wings this year and lost 3. Neither team has lost on home ice in this series and I don't think the Blues want to start now. The Blues still have a lot to prove.
I love you.
Go, Wings! Get one of those things we don't mention and motor on strong to the playoffs. Can't wait!!
I hope to see Wings playing at the Joe one day. That would be a dream come true for me.
I hope you get your wish! I am going back to the Joe for the first time in 11 years at the end of the month. ChelisChick and I are meeting WizardofOz30 and ACalltoArms at the games. Motown may never be the same!!
I know the team is missing Pasha and Nick out there, along with the rest of the injured... but I am so proud of them for what they've managed to do in spite of the tough situation. Strength in adversity! I am especially proud of Valtteri and how he's become the mini-Pasha we knew he could be. It all bodes well as we head toward the playoffs... just wait 'til everyone is back.
I am in the minority but i love the late games, even with the time change making me in the mornings. I can get home for the entire game, and not risk speeding tickets or worse trying to get home.
