#2385207 Bert thinks he'll be back this season

Posted by puckloo39 on 15 April 2013 - 09:30 PM

I just saw Bert in Nashville, with the team (so was Helm).  They looked great... both skated the morning skate with the team.  I won't be surprised to see Bert back next week.  Helm, probably not.  But I doubt either of them would risk permanent injury or risk being a liability for the team by coming back too soon.

#2382197 Concerned - we might not make it in to the playoffs

It will be a shame if the Wings don't make the post-season... almost inconceivable.  Yes, I do think that word means what I think it means. ;)

If that happens, it's not like the Wings didn't try and didn't know it could happen.  They're doing their best with the situation.  That I believe... not sure more bodies or different ones (for too much money) would have made that big a difference in Year One of our Lidstrom-less existence.

Yes, I know all of you.  I feel like I won something precious.

#2371217 Selanne hints at retirement still being far off

Posted by puckloo39 on 20 March 2013 - 08:08 AM

Just to nip all the dreams of signing him in the bud, Selanne has already said he will never play for another team. It's Anaheim or retirement.

Good for him.  And Anaheim.  Class act, I tell ya.

I have always had a huge hockey-crush on this man.  I hope Teemu plays forever, or until he just doesn't want to anymore.  He's a class act, through and through.

#2369938 Need a bit of help for my mom...

Posted by puckloo39 on 16 March 2013 - 09:56 AM

Your mother sounds wonderful.  I know she has an amazing son (that's you, baby).   Blessings and good wishes, and a bit of cash, on the way, dear.

((hugs)) to Danielle and little Dean.

#2369362 3/15 GDT : Red Wings 3 at Oilers 2 (OT)

If Babs sat Tootoo on purpose, I wish I knew his reasoning.  He has more heart on a given shift than most of the more veteran Wings.

thanks for the GDT, Mike!  At least you always show up, even if the Wings forget to sometimes...  ;)

Hope Toots plays, he brings a spark to the game, and God knows, they need one.

Flip with the GWG!

me at the Lightning vs. Bruins game in Tampa Bay last week... I don't care about either team so I made my hosts happy and wore the shirt they bought me.

Not sure how you say "screw you, LA" in Russian... but who needs words?  :cheesy:

Famous last words indeed.  Ladies and gentleman, welcome to your 2013 Detroit Bi-polars!

Interesting quote from Howard Their second goal was absolute garbage. Is he blaming himself for it, or throwing Kronwall under the bus?

EDIT:  Nevermind, found a more complete quote on Mlive, Howard totally blaming himself

“Awful, with a capital A,'' Howard said of his performance. “Just wasn't
there. I just didn't feel comfortable. Second goal was absolute
garbage. It took the wind completely out of our sails.''

Jimmy learned from a couple of A-list goalies to never throw his players under the bus, for sure.  He is honest with himself and this translates to his team knowing he always has their backs - even if they don't always deserve it.

This game was just one of those nights, CBJs wanted to win at home and the Wings let them.  Hopefully there was a lesson learned, but I wasn't particularly surprised at the let-down.

2 for 22 2-night.  I am waiting for Eaves to produce, too, so I can use the Eavesy-smilie.  :w00t:

Glad Jimmy is OK, I hear that sort of thing doesn't feel too good, so he really took one for the team.

Wings will win, Z has put on his Captain Courageous hat and will lead us to victory.  Go, Wings!!!

I lost my mom and dad when I was in my twenties, one to a long-term debilitating illness/stroke and the other to catastrophic cancer with just one-year survival. after diagnosis.  It was a while ago, but one doesn't get over it soon. This will doubtless affect Jiri, so I hope he has a support system.  It weirds me out a bit to know that people my age still have living parents - especially when they are not close to them while they are all alive and have the opportunity to be a family.  In a way, I was lucky to know my time with them both was limited.  I treasured the time I had with them on Earth.

T, you know I am thinking of you.  I know you're strong and will deal with this situation accordingly.  One of my acquaintances once said, "I don't know how you dealt with losing both your parents when you were so young."   I don't recall being given a choice, actually.  You play the hand you are dealt, if you're smart.

You're smart!  I know you will be a winner in this game, and will handle it magnificently.
