#2466021 Engelland suspended 5 games for Abby hit

Posted by puckloo39 on 18 December 2013 - 05:16 PM

I am shocked that Engelland got anything at all.  It was Abby's fault for getting in the way, apparently.... but whatever.

#2464838 Wings muscle?

Posted by puckloo39 on 15 December 2013 - 04:03 PM

I have more muscle than some of these guys.  Boy, do I ever miss Mac.  I have said for years that all I want is a player out there - like Mac - who makes the other team look over their shoulders as they leave the ice.  They didn't pull crap on the goalies and other players on the Wings roster when there was some sort of pay back coming.  Shanny, Lilja, even Fischer would use their size and strength to lay down the law.

Toots isn't Mac, but at least he was willing to try to defend his team mates.

there will probably be no suspension on the Abby hit by Engelland.  It's open season on Red Wings heads this season... everybody have at it!!!   Nothing will happen in terms of actual discipline.

We're tied with them for 14th in the NHL?  I didn't know that!

Let's go, Red Wings, smack down at the Joe tonight!  :boxing: De-flower Flower, OK, Gus Gus and Tater and Mule and Alfie?  Or whoever else cares to contribute a goal or 3?  No OT or SO, please...

Thanks for the cool GDT, Mike!  Awesome job, as always!!

#2464171 Howard out 2-4 weeks with MCL sprain

It's because they are all so OLD.

oh, wait... not they're not.  We do seem to have more than our share of injuries.  Kudos to those who bought WC jerseys of players who may not be there for reasons out of anyone's control.  It still supports the team, and the player.  :yahoo:

I wish Jimmy a speedy recovery, so he can come back and show everyone he's still the man.  I love Monster --  he's doing what he's supposed to do - play like a champ as the back up, when he's needed.

Hasek used to scoop up the puck and fire it out of the zone like he was hitting a baseball.  :w00t:

I miss that.

this isn't Howie vs Monster, IMO.  But the effort from the team - or lack thereof - is a factor in wins and losses.

Should have been an easy two points.  Mule was the best player out there.  That in and of itself says a lot, and it is not good.

Excellent job on the GDT, Paulie!  I think the Wings will win this one, because you did such fine work.

The babies will step up and Mule will decide he now the Captain, with Z and D off the ice.

Just kidding, I believe this will be Alfie's game to show what a captain does when the team is stressed.  I have faith in my men wearing the winged wheel!!

#2460039 12/1 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Senators 2, Alfredsson scores ENG

Posted by puckloo39 on 01 December 2013 - 11:42 PM

Alfie completely understood the few boo's he heard.  He is such a great guy and the epitome of what I think an elite NHL hockey player is all about. Very happy he's a Red Wing!!

http://espn.go.com/n...turn-alfredsson

"Alfie, Alfie, Alfie," the crowd chanted while a pre-game video showed his many moments in a Senators uniform.

"That video was pretty cool to watch," said star Wings blue-liner Nicklas Kronwall. "It was emotional for us, imagine how he felt.''

Almost overwhelmed is how he felt.

"It's hard to describe," said Alfredsson. "How do you feel you deserve to be cheered on like that after all you do is play hockey? It's kind of surreal at times to have that feeling. But it's a mutual feeling. I definitely respect this city, this team, as well. I thought once the puck dropped, the crowd also did the right thing by cheering on their team."

And booing him later in the game on a few occasions.

"That's good," said Alfredsson. "They should stick up for their team, and that's what they're doing."

Nothing but love for Alfie in Ottawa.  Even when he scored, they can't hate him, ever.  Good on the fans for realizing what a treasure he was and what he did for their franchise.

Happy birthday to Tomas - he's 23 today.  Hope you get a hattie tonight, Tater!

#2459548 Shea Weber leaves game with Injury

Posted by puckloo39 on 01 December 2013 - 09:49 AM

There's really no comparison between Weber purposefully slamming Z's head into the glass  --and then laughing and joking about it with team mates later, for the cameras to catch -- and other less intentional injuries inflicted during the heat of a game, as with the head shot to Datsyuk.   Much as I hate that Pasha is injured, I don't believe Cowen's act was as intentional.  He might be pleased after the fact that he got away with it, but I am not sure he's smart enough to plan that action out as a way to remove Datsyuk from the ice.

Weber didn't 'deserve' a puck to the face, of course, as retribution for his low-class action toward our Captain.  It deserved punishment from the league, needless to say, and didn't speak well of Weber's character.

Does Shanahan skew his judgments, or lack thereof, when a Wing is the victim?   Why, yes, it does appear that way.  Disappointing.

#2458090 What is Samuelsson's role?

Posted by puckloo39 on 25 November 2013 - 09:06 AM

To show us up when he goes on a hot streak during the SCF.

He has to bring Mule with him.

#2458088 ****(Stuff) no one says about the Wings

Posted by puckloo39 on 25 November 2013 - 08:59 AM

Red Wings players are perfectly safe out there, because the league's discipline policies are so strictly enforced.  No one would dare elbow one of our top players in the face or smash his head into the glass, knowing they will be severely disciplined for the infraction.
