#2202979 Kovalev complains in Russian media

Posted by RedArmy on 09 August 2011 - 08:59 AM

That's because these guys are rich, spoiled athletes.

In the days of the Red Army hockey teams, those players lived in apartments and got paid as much money as you and I. They also trained 12 months a year. Those guys didn't have this lazy, white collar attitude that the Russian hockey players have nowadays when they come over to the US. That's guaranteed millions for you and a chance to live in America.

So your statement wasn't entirely fair. Kovalev is the stereotypical, "modern day" Russian hockey player.

interesting so that means Datsyuk, Ovechkin, Malkin, Gonchar, Bryzgalov all fall into that "modern day" criteria? WHo are you DOn Cherry? What about Mogilny, Fedorov, Zubov, Bure who technically played at the same time when Kovalev won a cup with the Rangers?

this is such BS... Do Red Wings fans question Pavel Datsyuk's heart? If a north american player is streaky you call him steaky, but if a Russian player is like that you call him lazy and say he has no heart ... this is dumb

keep ozzie out... Jimmy has been the man for the team this season, so let him sink with the ship or rise above. Chances of wings coming back are slim, but you can't pull your main goalie out due to 1 game. Where was the team when Jimmy showed up for them in game 1 and 2? Granted the refs screwed the wings royally early on, but Jimmy did in fact show up during those games.

You're just being nice to the Ruskies in hopes that they don't take away a big chunk of your land on a whim again.

My friend Eric lives in Finland. I love the stories he relates back of his trips in to Russia! "Immagine how backwards Russia is from what you see on TV - then multiply it by 100" he says.

I don't think it's cold war propaganda that makes the US and Canada laugh at Russia - it's how far they've fallen since the end of the cold war. I would have loved to have visited the USSR circa 1985. I respected the USSR, because it did some things well. I can't think of anything that Russia excels at. It is my sincere hope that they get their s*** together, because it has the potential to be an awesome country.

yes of course your friend from Finland is an expert lol. I lived in USSR in 1985 and former Soviet Union till 1995...

in any case, what I can say is this fan is going to get a massive beating from the cops for this incident... The fan was just an ass, it is no different from having a drunk fan falling into Tie Domi's penalty boxes and getting his ass kicked. Of course in this case the goalie could have gotten seriously hurt.

As far as Russia goes, yes some things are backwards but at the same time Moscow is the most expensive city in the world to live and the lifestyle has changed dramatically...

Also, I love how in Olympics Russia had NHL washouts? Right so Ovie, Malkin, Datsyuk, Nabokov.. interesting... all I can say is they choked it is what it is... Didn't Canada choke in last olympics? yet no one said hockey is over for Canada...

the stupidity and ignorance around the boards sometimes lol...

God, the KHL is like some guy who offers your girlfriend/wife to sleep with him right in front of you. Classless.

in what sense is it classless? What is the difference when one nhl teams offers more money than another nhl team? In the case when its KHL over NHL its all of a sudden classles... this is so stupid...
