#2321590 hello

always nice to hear from wings fans from around the world!

#2310167 Steve Ott - anyone interested in getting him?

Posted by DangleDangleBeach on 26 June 2012 - 06:18 PM

i would take ott in a heartbeat. he pisses his opponents off, plays high energy and finishes every single check. he kills penalties, even can play holmstrom like pp role, is solid on faceoffs(55% last year), will stick up for his teammates . he does all of this and more but also has an offensive touch as well... a GREAT 3rd line center/wings who adds quite a few elements this team could really use and havent had recently. just my opinion though.

#2309718 Trade Ian White?

obviously if you could upgrade it would be worthwhile... (ie-yandle) but even so, hes one of our few right handed shots so that may not be the best idea depending on who we get (yandle shoots right). i also feel he is pretty consitent, moderately priced and has the some spark which this team seems to lack at times. i would personally like to see them keep him.

ryan for filppula isnt even close.

4 years scoring 30 goals is quite an accomplishment to say the least... and at 25 years old? get real people... flip is a solid 2nd liner... ryan is a bonafide 1st line sniper, gonna take a lot more then filppula for sure

lol... like there was ever really a chance that st louis would let him come here.

#2306036 My Trade Proposal

Posted by DangleDangleBeach on 08 June 2012 - 02:08 PM

Ryan's "s*** year" is not too far off from his career year. He gets more ice time than Franzen. The biggest differences between the 2 are age and durability.

lol...you are so wrong on so many levels i dont know where to start. you do realize that at age 25 ryan has 136 goals in the nhl and franzen has scored 14 more goals at age 32???? lets not forget that 5 came from 1 game! :)

franzens career year at age 32 was 58 points which is 13 points less then ryan's career year of 71 points. the problem here is ryan is 7 years younger and will only be getting better for the next few years whereas franzen's game has only declined. by the time ryan is franzen's age, im pretty sure he'll have more then 150 goals.

at age 25 ryan's "s*** year", his 4th full season in the nhl, he became just the fourth player since the lockout to hit 30 goals in 4 straight seasons. kovalchuk, kessel, iginla are the other 3 but thats probably because of his ice time, right?

the difference between ryan and franzen? one player has about 100x more potential, possibility to become elite, 100x greater work ethic, HEART, A BETTER nose for the net, a more consistent track record, hell, even better numbers yet is 7 years younger... if you really think the only difference between these two players is age then you just apparently haven't watched ryan play.

im sorry bro... franzen just isnt that good. his value to you is WAYYYYYY higher then the value any other team would put on him. not saying teams wouldnt want him because somebody would, but to compare him to bobby ryan is so wrong its not even funny.... and it HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ICE TIME

#2305988 My Trade Proposal

Posted by DangleDangleBeach on 08 June 2012 - 09:34 AM

Ryan had a s*** year last year and it could be because he doesn't want to play in Anaheim anymore. Just like Franzen wants "some fun".

lol... bobby ryan is 25 and had 1 less point then franzen last year in his "s*** season" (57 points) with a 15.2 shooting percentage which is higher then johan has ever had. ryan s*** season point total ironically enough is actually 2 points less then franzens career year.

if in ryan's s*** seasons he gets 2 less points then franzens career year... what incentive does anaheim have to swap a consistent 25 year old (4 years 30 goals is consistent) for an 32 year old who is consistently inconsistent? seems quite foolish from their perspective.

#2305978 My Trade Proposal

Posted by DangleDangleBeach on 08 June 2012 - 08:40 AM

trade is quite lopsided toward the wings. for a second we can pretend they can afford to sign both stuart and hudler... theres still no guarantee either of them will sign. ryan is so much better then franzen and its really not close and if anaheim is trading ryan you can i can assume they would want to guarantee themselves more then franzen, kindl and a 4th

#2303032 If you could pick any 23 players in the NHL to start a franchise with

Posted by DangleDangleBeach on 24 May 2012 - 02:28 PM

just for the hell of it... im making a team to play your "globetrotters" sorry to hijack your thread just seemed fun. i understand yours was merely on franchise players... but whatever you left off i used on my squad (whether you would start a team with them or not was not something i was worrying about.)

iginla-datsyuk-st louis
benn-backstrom-b richards

pronger (if alive)

hossa, sharp, thornton, callahan, pavelski, mrichards, nug, hall, eberle, subban, kesler, hossa, eriksson, fleury, price all honorable indeed!

#2302567 What's the point of the crease?

Posted by DangleDangleBeach on 22 May 2012 - 09:11 AM

i would be more then lost without my crease. taking a crease away would almost be like taking the goalies stick away. as you move as a goalie your crease is kind of like your map where you always have a sense as to where you are relative to the net, by where your crease is under you. you would have to take it out in youth hockey and wait to enforce it in the nhl once all the old timers who were accustomed to the crease are gone. to just take howards crease away tomorrow would throw his entire game off, i promise.

Posted by DangleDangleBeach on 15 May 2012 - 03:01 PM

and an unrealistic one!! all i really did was the same as above... just traded ericcson and cleary as well for "picks"

My Custom Lineup
Zach Parise ($6.700m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Gustav Nyquist ($0.875m)
Valtteri Filppula ($3.000m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Johan Franzen ($3.955m)
Justin Abdelkader ($1.200m) / Darren Helm ($1.800m) / Todd Bertuzzi ($2.075m)
Drew Miller ($0.838m) / Zenon Konopka ($1.000m) / Patrick Eaves ($1.200m)
Niklas Kronwall ($4.750m) / Ryan Suter ($7.000m)
Ian White ($2.875m) / Brendan Smith ($0.875m)
Mark Fistric ($1.000m) / Barret Jackman ($3.750m)
Jimmy Howard ($2.250m)
Scott Clemmensen ($1.500m)
CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $59,425,379; BONUSES: $37,500
CAP SPACE (20-man roster): $4,874,621

could make this roster with almost 5 million left over. say the cap does go up to 70 (from 64).... leaves us about 10-11 million left over. could literally have signed semin too just like the way this roster flows better then if he were in the top 6 (which bumps filppula franzen or nyquil out)

but in reality... you think kenny could make something happen at the deadline with 10-11 mill cap space?

make a roster for next seasons squad. classify it as realistic, semi-realistic, or fantasy. please dont flame anyone.... this is just for ghits and shiggles

lines could be tweaked i didn't set them (i would have put helm above abby etc.)

even with the cap staying put this roster can work.
how it all happened.

1A. re-sign helm and abby
1B. lidstrom and holmstrom retire after great careers
2. wings nab suter for 7.0 mil. this contract is probably a little inflated but in this market and with the demand he will bring about it seems pretty fair. could always have the contract have different cap hits per year... but i think 7 mill for year 1 is somewhat fair for both sides given the circumstances.
3. parise follows suit for 6.7. he too may not be worth a contract on par with pavels... but in reality he could fetch a lot more on the open market. tells him "your worth pavel like money" and also "we dont pay any forward more then we pay pav". from his perspective... he should be somewhat flattered seeing as though the wings dont throw money like that around to just anybody and that his cap hit is the same amount as one of the biggest forces in the game. i like it for both sides once again, given the circumstances.
4. let hudler, stuart, kindl all walk. (kindl waived)
5. sign jackman at 3.5 if hes willing (may be able to sugarcoat it a little bit with a cap increase)... replaces stuart, makes our team tougher, solidifies the backend.
6. re-sign quincey to 1 year, 2.4 contract. take or leave it. feel like we will re-sign him since he did cost us a 1st rounder. i understand this is a decent amount less then he made prior... but at this point he needs to prove his worth if he wants to stay here. i must say i think he is a better player then he showed in the red and white last year.
7. sign harding to a 1-2 year deal around a mill

note. i had to waive eaves to make this happen... main reason was his contract secondly his injury history. if healthy and with a cap increase he could replace emmerton on the 4th.

i heard that the wings are thinking of firing babcock before playoffs and have already begun searching LGW blogs in hopes to find their replacement

ironic that the common consensus on LGRW.COM would be that datsyuk is better then ovechkin... seems like the homerism is overpowering the logic.

ovechkin is 25 years old
datsyuk is 32

career points

for dats = 221 goals, 651 points in 662 games
for ovie = 301 goals 614 points in 475 games

in ovies 6 years in the league he has scored more then 50 goals 4 times, 1 of the 4 being a 65 goal season. in datsyuks 9 years with detroit, the most goals he has put up in a season was 32(08) which ties ovechkins lowest goal total since entering the league (2010). datsyuks 2nd most goals in a season is 31(07)... so if you add dats goal totals from 07 and 08 ovechkin still outscored him with just his 07 goal total. (32+31= 63, vs 65)some of you may say thats not fair, because dastyuk isn't a goal scorer... which is fine because we can also look at assists. datsyuks top season for assists was 66 in 07... ovechkin had 59 in 2010, just 7 less. dont see datsyuk doubling ovechkin in assists like ovechkin does datsyuk in goals most years.

datsyuk has never had a 100 point season (97 twice) at age 32 whereas ovechkin has 4 at age 25

ovechkin is 5th all time for regular season goals per game above bure and gretzky, behind lemieux and bossy.... good company.
4th on all time list of playoff points per games (ahead of messier and orr)
2nd in playoff goals per game behind super mario
7th all time in regular season points per game

could probably do this all day.... dont want to because pav is like my favorite player but its really not even that close on paper and thats just me being objective because i really dont like ovechkin all that much. as a red wing fan and a hockey fan its good to be objective about things becuase most people arent. (hence 95% of people on LGRW saying dats > ovie). i just dont think a poll of hfboards or nhl would show people unanimously agreeing that datsyuk is better then ovie.
