Love how Datsyuk has been entering the zone today. Speed, deke, then gets a nice shot on goal.

Damn, love that aggressive forecheck. Thats usually what kills us, good to see we've learned to use it too.

I blame this bad season on the trolls of LGW.

I've loved White's play, hes one of the few that actually pinch in and rotate the offense. He plays an offensive defenseman well. He may have pinched a couple times and let his man get past him, but he has Lidstrom with him to pick them up. He fits perfectly with Lidstrom.

Wow, he barely grazed abby's head.

#2210998 Brendan Smith suspended for 5 games

Posted by PrairieDawg on 30 September 2011 - 03:37 PM

I don't get it. Shanahan in his video says Ben Smith didn't significantly change his course enough for it to cause the hit, but the thing is that brendan smith missed the shoulder by like an inch and hit his head. So I'd be more willing to say that because of that very slight move to the inside by Ben that it ended up causing Brendan's hit to miss his shoulder and hit his head. Also as Ben is trying that inside toe drag his head is going forward a little more which sticks out to be hit. I'm not going to bash Shanny because of this but I think this is a little extreme suspension for a first time offender on an accident. I don't believe this is wreckless because if Ben wouldn't have done that move it would have been a clean shoulder to shoulder hit.

I'm just surprised that this is the 2nd longest suspension of the preseason when I believe this is the hit that is closest to being clean of all the others.

#2210518 Numbers to be placed on FRONT and back of helmet

It'd be better if every player had their name transposed onto the ice under them and a blue circle around whoever had the puck. Would probably make the game easier to watch.

This is going to be interesting how Shanny reacts to this hit. In every video he has been emphasizing that the player with the puck didn't make a sudden movement right before the hit. Since Ben Smith did the toe drag moving his head forward and body back immediately prior to contact, it might be a clean hit. Not every play where someone gets their bell rung is a suspend-able hit.

Is that a suspension worthy hit? It looked like the guy slowed up right before the hit so instead of shoulder to shoulder it was shoulder to head. It was immediately prior to the contact.

I heard that too and thought, "Detroit sucks? Then how come the Blackhawks are losing to the Griffins right now?"

More like Grand Rapids sucks :sly:

#2200681 Are you addicted to the Red Wings?

Posted by PrairieDawg on 24 July 2011 - 04:18 AM

I feel like I'm on hfboards and LGW at least an hour or so everyday looking for any news on the Wings. I think its just that I've learned so much about all the players and all the prospects, the coaches, the strategies they use and everything. Its just so deep and interesting to me, and I'm always just looking for anything that looks promising for the future of the Wings. I really think the best job in the world would be the GM of a sports team, specifically the Red Wings.
