#2532205 Red Wings & the Media

I believe he is talking about the guy who cancelled his ticket plan and explain why he didn't agree with the things they were doing.

They told him to go support another team or somethig along those lines.

I can't remember the exact thread it was in.

If that is true they better hope that doesn't get widely published. I'm sure plenty of people would be happy to oblige them if that's how they really feel. The franchise has certainly taken an ugly turn since 1 July, at least publicly. I can't say I'm a very proud fan at this point. That Quincey signing has me more pissed than the cleary signing. We all know cleary won't make the team. My only hope is Babcock doesn't get extended and a change is made as is obviously needed. It will be interesting to hear Mickey Redmonds comments during the season. He doesn't exactly pull punches when giving his opinions.

#2524936 Todd Bertuzzi will not be re-signed

I said the day we brought him back that wed never win a cup with him on the roster, bad juju.

This. Very true. I always thought it was a bad idea. He had his moments, but he just didn't throw his weight around like he could have. I mean he certainly could have been the muscle we needed to keep opponents in line, but he never tried to put anyone on their ass like a guy that size could. I wonder if there is a rule on the team not to get into the messy stuff by babcock. Because he certainly doesn't ever look happy when Justin gets greasy.

#2524674 Dan Cleary may return...sigh

I think this will be like the maltby deal. I can't see him wanting to play in the ahl. And if he does play on the wings then it will be because he earned it. Maybe he busts his ass in the offseason and gets in beast mode for one last hoorah. Or maybe his body can't do what his mind wants to and he realizes it and hangs em up. His knees are pretty much shot.

I'm not saying there's an exact number, but you need to have grit and toughness to go along with the skill and finesse, you need more determination with a decent amount of talented players to go with the skill sniper players. The fact that the red wings don't have the threat of enforcer is what allowed the Bruins to do what they did to the wings. 10 years ago if that POS had done to a wings player like Dekeyser what he did we wouldn't be crying about a suspension. We would be anticipating an ass whooping the next game. The wings don't have that threat so people have their way with them.

Have you been talking to Don Cherry recently? Having said that, I agree, to an extent. I think we haven't quite got the balance right. yet.

No, but look at the Kings. 4 Europeans on that roster, 4. Bruins had 7. The hawks had 10, and got handled pretty well by the kings, they just found a way to steal a couple before being eliminated. The kings whiffed on some chances to score goals in those last two games they lost, and Crawford, the canadian, stood on his head those games. I'm sorry but yeah, the Europeans have the skill and craftiness, but to go deep in the playoffs, you need size strength stamina and endurance to go with the skill. We all know the North Americans have the size and strength over the Europeans. Its just a Snapple Fact. Toss in the skill of a Kopitar and Gaborik and you have the formula to run deep and possibly win it all. The kings very well could be a three peat champ this year had they beaten the hawks last year.

Saw that the Wings brass (including draper) interviewed Brendan, son of Claude, Lemieux at the combine. I hope I don't have to start liking the Lemieux's.

It was probably just to hell him not to piss off the wings or he would get his ass beat just like his daddy and the whole team did.

Not trying to say anything, but look at the ratio of North American players to Europeans on the teams that recently won the cup and look at the wings roster. There's a trend here.

This is the wings 2008 roster.
20 North Americans and 13 Europeans. It's been downhill since the gritty North Americans have been departing. Osgood, chelios, draper, maltby, McCarty, rafalski, drake, Downey, and Stuart. Again, Stuart was an acquisition that season in February. Holland making moves to improve an already fairly stacked team. Something he should be doing more of.

I'm glad the Rangers are going back to the Finals, but you have to think that if Carey Price didn't get hurt, Montreal would be there instead.
Tokarski played well, and isn't to blame, but he's not on that same level.

It's hard to win when your team doesn't score.

Subban just said he wouldn't comment on what lucic said in the handshake line. f*** lucic. Classless garbage. Disgusts me he has a ring and his name on that cup. Disrespects everyone else that played for and won it. Guys just don't realize they represent not just their team, their city and themselves, but the nhl and everyone who ever played the game. Total piece of s***.

How bad ass does that PK quote sound now?
Same guy who was throwing a fit when Marchand got called for unsportsmanlike conduct for the shower on Price.  "Come on!  It's game 7 of the playoffs!"

He was bitching on the first penalty of the game for goalie interference. Clearly a biased announcer. Ridiculous.

Guys are selling calls and refs are buying and there's nothing wrong with that cuz I'm Pierre and I'm pretty sure I'm a pedophile and I love Crosby and all the bruins.
Yeah let's look at how sad the bruins are and forget there's another team on the ice.
The nhl needs a serious look in the mirror on their tv coverage.

Go Habs. Boston can suck it. The sox, bruins, pats and celtics can get bent. Bunch of crazies. I don't see Chicago beating the ducks. I predict a ducks rangers finals. And I love to hear the pain in the nbc announcers voices when their team loses. NBC is a joke like the nhl refs and discipline process.

I know it was popular to think so after the Boston-Detroit series, but the truth is the Bruins are not some super team or "the best team in recent memory" as some were suggesting.  Apparently they're perfectly human if you don't make dumb personnel decisions and actually execute a game plan.

The wings did beat them 3 times during the season. Obviously they're not unstoppable. I lay the blame on the coaching in this one. I just don't understand why mike does what he does with the lines when it doesn't work, and why he's so averse to icing a team with an enforcer in the playoffs for a game or two. I just don't get the logic.

Say what you want about that first goal, but they let him walk right into the zone on that power play. You can't let them do that. Way too easy.
