#2419773 Detroit: Circa June 2018...

Posted by number9 on 14 June 2013 - 07:36 AM

Max is 5'9" 194 lbs at 18. He'll probably end up around 5'10 210lbs as he grows. Not far off from zberg or dats. He's also incredibly more talented than his father, but also plays with his fathers fearless energy. Not a player to build around? How many 1st round players have been built around rich? Maybe 1 or 2 a draft? If hes another yzerman, awesome. if hes another lapointe, awesome. Your expectations are unrealistic, as are your evaluations of the guy.

#2418403 What would you give up for Malkin?

You have a better chance of getting struck by lightning.

Than ever seeing Malkin wearing a Red Wings jersey.

#2418169 If Hossa gets bought out..

Posted by Crymson on 06 June 2013 - 01:47 PM

Why would the Senator's have a smaller than Hawks' hit against the cap if they traded for Hossa?

Because the Blackhawks would eat the cap benefit for the four seasons they've already had Hossa, leaving the Senators to pick up the remainder.

#2418103 Blessing in disguise?

I like everything but including Jurco in a package deal.  He needs to hang out with Dats all summer and work on ice together.  He's gonna be an impact player, he just needs Dats to mentor him.

Very nicely put except for I am hoping we give our top notch euro scouting staff a break and start working our top notch Canadian scouting staff.... we need to get tougher

#2417884 Franzen Buyout?

Posted by Johnz96 on 05 June 2013 - 01:39 PM

Capgeek says it would cost $15 of real money to buy Franzen out. Real money matter way more than cap money. This is quite different from buying out a guy with 1 or 2 years left. And Wings would have to take cap hit from this buyout for the next 14 years.

If it's only $15, I think a lot of LGW posters would gladly pay out of their own pocket.

#2416405 The *unrealistic* 2013 off-season thread

Posted by T.Low on 30 May 2013 - 09:43 PM

Michael Ryder is available.  I prefer realistic.  If we're gonna sign like last offseason and you want unrealistic, then Ryder, Clarkson, Horton and Scuderi.  Tuzzi retires.  Sammy and Colo are bought out.  Tootoo is traded cause he wants to play.  Cleary, White and Miller don't re-sign.  Flip signs with Calgary.  Franzen is traded to a southern team, cause he likes the sun and it's fun there.

Ginger's don't like the sun.  Just saying...

My daughter left for the movies so we should win.  She hasn't watched any games this series except for the last game so we're good.

#2407505 TSN Feature on Kronwall

Posted by Crymson on 20 May 2013 - 11:29 AM

I think it's the way they deceive their victim into believing they're backing off, been then swooping around and catching them at the right moment.

I don't recall Konstantinov ever doing that.

Who is this "Brad Stewart?" Is he the guy who plays with "Nick Lindstrom?" :-D I keed, I keed...

Those two form a formidable on-ice group alongside Darren McCarthy, Kurt Maltby, and Chris Draper.

#2404460 Official Franzen VS Hossa

Posted by Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot) on 14 May 2013 - 03:35 PM

Still busy, but I was able to make this while I had a few minutes. Graph shows PPG over the course of regular seasons, 05-06 - current season;

To me this paints the picture that I always thought represented reality.

Both players are very consistent (since The Choice ™ ).Hossa is a slightly better point producer than Franzen. Not by any means head and shoulders better. Their cap hits reflect this. Don't really know why there is a debate here tbh. I guess you should look at playoffs too.

#2402365 Zetterberg's Slap shot

Posted by Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot) on 12 May 2013 - 09:43 AM

I feel like in certain seasons certain players just get in a groove. For the last few seasons Z's groove has been assists over goals and has played that kind of hockey. But some players develop a knack for the net that lasts for a season then fades. Think Brad Boyes, Nick Backstrom etc.. If you aren't a pure goalscorer but you get hot early on (and have the tools to score) you can put up monster numbers for a year. I think it is entirely possible that if Z got hot early next season playing on Datsyuk's wing he could get above 30 goals again easily. Its just about habit and hitting that perfect habit early.
