#2448547 Would you want Moulson on the Wings?

Posted by dirtydangles on 28 October 2013 - 05:49 PM

Why do you think that?

Moulson is a pending UFA and Mrazek could be a number 1 guy for the future... add in the 1st and it doesn't work at all.

Imagine 100% Helm and Nyquist in this team. That would be a big skill and speed boost.

I think the main thing we are lacking is SPEED. We are slow and both these guys have wheels (Helm in particular). The only reason Tootoo is useful out there is because he skates and is everywhere - we need more of this.

#2446971 Datsyuk in shootouts

When dats misses we lose - when dats scores we win. this is the trend more often than not in the shootout. he shoots first and sets the tone.

I just want to weigh in on the penalty issue. I think it is completely plausible that the refs are told to influence the game slightly to keep it close. How many times have we seen a pp for a team right after they were scored on? All the time. In a big original 6 game with the home team down and the only game on tv i think the refs went a little overboard tonight. They made knit pick calls on detroit that they turned the blind eye to when boston did them. Thats my 2 cents.

#2440594 Steve Yzerman wants Game Misconduct penalties for fighting

Posted by dirtydangles on 02 October 2013 - 03:44 PM

What makes this worse for me is that he played his whole career on a team that carried some of the toughest SOB's to ever lace them up who night in and night out put there ass on the line to protect him. Complete disrespect to those guys. RIP Probie.

Leave the game alone you sissies.

I disagree. I think that Stevie would see how that role affected those players (a lot of drug use, brain damage and depression etc) and feel bad that they had to go through those things to protect him. In essence he might want to protect players from being put in a situation where they have to play that role.

Although he was playing with Sammy (the anchor) Jarnkrok looks very far away from the NHL. I hate to say it because I had such high expectations, but he has a long way to go. He hasn't even shown any flashes of anything really. He isn't being boneheaded or anything but just not looking like a future top 6 centre.

Can we all just remember that Keith got 1 game for THIS!!!

#2436295 Gustav Nyquist (whats next)

Posted by dirtydangles on 12 September 2013 - 04:39 PM

Regardless of Nyquist starting in GR or Detroit, it's an Olympic year condensed schedule and lots of Wings are also playing in the tournament, so we will have plenty of injuries.

Nyquist the Ginja Ninja and Tatar will both see plenty of ice time, and we'll still see plenty of Griffs play up.

I'm ok with him starting slow and getting hot down the stretch into the playoffs.  It was a real short break for him after skating the Calder Cup around Syracuse.

What happens when guys get healthy and Nyquist is out of options after playing 2 games? We will be screwed and at the mercy of other teams who may need injury replacements.

#2436293 Cleary re-signs with Detroit, 1 year, $1.75m deal

I don't get it.We had the best Playoffs run since '09 playing the kids mostly and suddenly we're loaded with the vets again.

This. The young guns also contributed majorly during the run. Albeit Cleary did too but he was being plugged with far better players. Cleary on the 3rd/4th line won't be putting up many points or grinding down the opposition.

Guys like Jurco, Pulks, Jarnkrok must see this and realize no matter how amazing they play they won't see the NHL anytime soon. There is little incentive at this point for the kids to work hard because there is not much to earn right now other than the love of griffins fans.

Ken Holland is too sentimental with his players. At some point you have to cut the cord and do what is best for the team and not for your personal friendships.

So much for seeing the young guns at forward this season... they will be 25 by the time the break in. Holland cites inexperience as a factor in taking vets over kids but they can't gain any without playing time with the big club...

Next year I hope we truly trim the fat and move on from these old guys and give the youth a chance - it is also much more affordable cap-wise. You can have Tatar for 900k or Cleary for 1.75 mill.

Bogosian and James Neal. No time to set up trade possibilities - we don't have the assets for both either.
