Kindl's gonna go on waivers cause they can't trade him and Smith will get 2nd PP time.
Then Kindl goes to a couple teams in the west and improves greatly - then Holland desperately trades a 1st round pick at the trade deadline for him and then Kindl stinks up the joint here again and gets re-signed for 4.25mill.
If I were GM I would have tried to construct a D like this:
Kronwall - Smith
Dekeyser - Ericsson
Del Zotto - Marchenko
Never would have signed Quincey. Would have traded or bought out Kindl (we have the cap space for the next few years). I would have tried to get Del Zotto on a 2 year deal and tried to turn his value around. After this year I would be looking to trade E/Smith/DZ (depending on their value at the end of the year) in a package for a RH Dman and clear up one more roster space for Sproul.
Signing Del Zotto would have been high reward low risk considering we have insurance in GR. If Del Zotto found his game again he could be traded or make Smith/E more expendable for trading purposes. Nobody wants Quincey because he has already reached his potential and it isn't worth his contract.
EDIT: I also always thought "Del Zotto" would look sick on the back of a Wings jersey.
I'd trade Tatar + Kindl (roster spot) + 1st 2015 for Myers but that is about it. Jurco is too valuable with his size and skill blend and Nyquist is just too good already to move. Obviously I'd rather give up Pulkkinen before Tatar but Pulkkinen wouldn't be enough to get it done as a main piece. I'd be most willing to give up the our prospects in this order:
Jurco = Nyquist
I just think Tatar is most easiest replaced due to his size and Pulkkinen could step into his shoes.
