What a pain in the ass. Cant believe we traded a first for this s***

#2315847 Semin

as long as he doesn't have a ntc we are okay giving him 4 years. a team trying to make the cap floor would take him on.

if we give him 4 years at a low cap hit we can at least trade him to like dallas or florida at some point. we didn't give up assets for him. cap space isn't going anywhere else at this point.

#2315831 The Ever-Increasing Cap, Ridiculous Contracts, and Hitting

Posted by dirtydangles on 05 July 2012 - 03:19 PM

The purpose of the salary cap was to encourage parity. It succeeded in this for a few seasons. Now it is ruining the NHL. The cap is giant, and contracts have become absurdly inflated as a result. Teams almost always have the cap space to re-sign their UFAs, so few big-name players ever hit the open market; as a result, those who do go to the open market are given gigantic, ridiculous contracts. What's more, the low-budget teams--those teams to whom the cap was meant to give a legitimate shot at winning--must now dole out ridiculous contracts to remain above the salary floor. Hilarious.

This really needs to be dealt with.

THIS. Well put in one post.

#2315824 Wings hire Tom Renney as Assistant Coach (3-year contract)

Posted by dirtydangles on 05 July 2012 - 03:13 PM

Yes, but it's all hearsay... nothing is based on any factual information. That's all it ever is, which is why people need to stay away from just guessing and assuming they know what's up. Cleary played his ass off in the playoffs on one knee, I guess that must mean that Babcock hates every player but Cleary.

Thats just Cleary being Cleary.

#2315736 Bob Probert: 2 Years Ago Today

RIP hero. We could use a little probert on this current team.

Waiting to see what the cap hit is before I comment...

I loled.

#2315695 Jonathan Ericsson. Knock, knock...

Posted by dirtydangles on 05 July 2012 - 12:51 PM

Ericsson could really just benefit from some belief/confidence. He just doesn't seem vocal enough, he needs to believe he's a stud and he will be. He needs to try to be the anchor in his d pairing no matter who he is paired with. He just tries to play second fiddle too often.

I think one way to solve this is to have players' existing cap hits inflate with the cap ceiling so that there is still a slight increase in cap but not enough that you can go blow a butload of money at once on one player. For instance, this offseason Z's cap hit would have increased to like 6.3 or something rather than 6. He still makes the same money he signed for but his cap hit increases. This would deter players from signing huge lifelong contracts because their cap hit can inflate but they still get the money they signed for.

#2315531 Tomas Tatar

Posted by dirtydangles on 05 July 2012 - 08:18 AM

Agreed.

All this hype surrounding Nyquist/Brunner/Tatar/Smith/Jarnock is fine, and dandy...How many of them will be a top 6 forward, or topo 4 Dman?

Some here hype them up as though they'll be the next wave of great Red Wing talent; with the exception of Smith - I really don't see anything so special about our prospects.

Nyquist has already shown he's a top 6 forward with limited playing time. Jarnkrok will be a 2C at worst (Fil likely or Z if lucky). Tatar can at least put up hudleresque numbers. Brunner - who knows. Smith will be top 4 unless he hits a major snag in his development.

#2315268 The Next Move

Posted by dirtydangles on 04 July 2012 - 08:43 PM

It is intriguing to know that Doan agent has contacted the Wings several times...lets us know that Doan (if he leaves) wants to come to a winner...if he does it'll be fun to watch Doan get his first Cup before the bobsie twins do...

detroit is the premier destination for 35+ players.

#2315057 Opinions if Wings have to settle for 'Plan B': Semin and Carle

#2314840 We Need to Trade

Posted by dirtydangles on 04 July 2012 - 02:34 PM

are you serious??? mike green gets a cuncussion like every year and cant play defense and mueller also gets a cuncussion like every season those arent the types of players we need

so does crosby... 8.7mill long term. These guys both had freak injuries. Can't predict the future. Mueller comes for free so at least consider that.

#2314416 Ryan Suter agrees to 13-year, $98-mil deal with Wild

Posted by dirtydangles on 04 July 2012 - 11:20 AM

this is bulls***. really disappointed. say goodbye to fil and franzen guys. we need d and it ain't happening without trading those guys. that or finish bottom 6 in league.
