#2342521 Giant Griffins bench-clearing brawl

Better to be involved in that kind of mass beat down than in the one that occurred in St. Louis tonight.

#2341219 Teams Must Comply with 23man Roster Limit by Tomorrow

No, both became waiver eligible last season.

Oh alright, thanks. How does that work though? I thought he was on a 2-way contract..? Or is it an age thing?

It all depends on the age the player was when they signed their entry level contract & the number of games they play in the NHL while they're waiver exempt. 2-way contracts don't impact waiver eligibility at all. All 2-ways do is differentiate the dollars a player is paid while they're in the NHL vs. the lower salary they would get if sent to the AHL.

#2340658 Devils re-sign Travis Zajac - 8 year, 46 million (5.75 per)

It's good to see that owners are going to rein it in on the whole overspending thing after losing half the season to the lockout.

#2339947 What the Wings are doing for the fans

I want to see them pull off a hot dog eating contest for the fans. If you can beat Larry Murphy, you get a free 9 game ticket package for 2.

#2339945 Wings Looking For Defenseman

Posted by ogreslayer on 14 January 2013 - 07:39 AM

Well - I do agree with you that's he isn't cheap (salary that is), nor will he come to Detroit cheap (although ya never know what the Flames will take in return) - however where else can Holland find a good puck moving Dman capable of playing top pairing minutes?

Unfortunately if Holland is gonna look for a legit #1/#2 Dman - he's gonna have to pay in one way, or another.

Crossing my fingers that Kenny can somehow pull off a Iginla/J-Bo trade at the deadline if indications are that Jerome won't re-sign in Calgary.

As a counterpoint... What the NHL will do for fans. Jack & squat.

#2338242 Tomas Holmstrom Retires

Posted by ogreslayer on 07 January 2013 - 02:51 PM

To honour him could we have 96 painted in the crease? Just to remind any visiting goalies that are getting cocky because he's not there any more.

Really it should be halfway in & halfway out.

One of my very favorite Wings, I will miss you, Homer. The goalies in the league celebrate the departure of your large red butt. I will never forget you scoring from every possible angle in 2002, all while falling down or sitting on your afore-mentioned rosy derriere. Best of everything, friend. Enjoy retirement and playing pick up hockey with Nick in Sweden.

Thought I saw somewhere that Homer & the family were going to stay in the Detroit area once he's retired. I'm hoping he takes over Murph's job between the benches on FSD broadcasts.

#2337466 Which players will get bought out?

Oh if only the irony of Minnesota having to buy out Suter or Parise would happen.

Arguing just to argue? It seems this thread as turned into the actual CBA talks then.

#2336479 Prospects That Have Missed The Boat

Of course he did. Where else would he keep Smith's ID?

Maybe in one of these?

Reports are that the next cancellation will be the season. I guess I can almost officially thank both the NHL owners & players for saving me the cost of the Center Ice package in these hard economic times. It's really nice that they were looking out for the fiscal health of the fans like that. That's what this was all about right? Right? :glare:

#2336455 Who takes Hudler's shootout spot?

Posted by ogreslayer on 20 December 2012 - 12:43 PM

Given Huds' tendecy to find the logo more often than not, could his best "replacement" be Samuelsson?

#2336002 Wings Are The Least Specialized Team In The NHL

Posted by ogreslayer on 13 December 2012 - 11:48 AM

Thanks for finding that #9. A very good read.

If it were actually a least special list though, I would think that the Bluejackets would be leading the way wouldn't they? :)

#2335697 Has your opinion of kenny changed?

Posted by ogreslayer on 08 December 2012 - 11:55 PM

Just more of a fan of speed. Give Emmerton Hudlers minutes and linemates, and he will produce.

So you're saying we send Emmerton to Calgary? I'm down with that.
