#2305566 Looking at Holland comments.

Posted by ogreslayer on 06 June 2012 - 09:16 AM

Start at goalie, it is the easiest to answer. McDonald will be gone and a UFA will come in. McDonald has zero trade value, so either will be cut or become a throw in on a deal. There are several veterans goalies that could be had this year. No major changes in the roster, cap, or status of the team. If possible I would try to extend Howard now, rather than risk him next offseason.

Who is this McDonald guy you keep talking about? The Wings have no such person on the roster. Oh, you mean Joey MacDonald? I seriously doubt he'll be cut or thrown in on a deal. He'll be put through waivers & either play in GR or the Wings lose him if another teams wants to claim him. So realistically, he'll be in GR splitting time with McCollum and/or Petr Mrazek throughout the season.

#2305199 Would you make this trade?

Short answer: No

Long answer: Noooooooooooooo

Helm is the straw that stirs the drink that is the bottom 6 as was seen in the Nashville series as soon as he went down. No way Kenny trades off Draper 2.0.

I say bring Homer back for one more year, give him the C, & watch hilarity ensue as refs across the NHL have to translate his Swenglish.

#2304239 Nick Lidstrom retires after 20 seasons

He should be a special guest there to speak for Lids. Damn the Lightning fans that get upset

Personally, I think Nick is doing well enough speaking for himself.

It's been obvious for years that Z is the guy. The question is whether they rotate Parise and/or Suter in as an A if they sign.

Ryan Suter

Hopefully the first thing out of Kenny's mouth after Nick speaks is that he's traded for Suter's rights from Nashville & is pleased to announce a signing. Too much to ask?

So is Holland retiring tomorrow also?

That's what he's said all along right? Either way, I think it will be time to say the hell with worksite dress codes & pull on the #5 sweater tomorrow.

#2303788 Red Wings make contract offer to D Justin Schultz

Posted by ogreslayer on 30 May 2012 - 01:56 PM

It sounds nice but nowhere near as great as the Minnesota Wild prospects. That team should win the next 10 Stanley Cups with all the great young talent they have in their system. They will be even better once Suter and Parise sign there.

I know, right? I'm just waiting for this place's eventual turn into letsgowild.com :hehe:

Still think Schultz would be a good pick-up but even if Lids retires, we don't get Suter, & Stewie leaves for Cali, I still don't see him in the lineup for the Wings right away. If NHL ice time is going to be the key to his signing, don't think it will be Detroit.

#2302928 Wings look into Jonas HolÝs?

Posted by ogreslayer on 23 May 2012 - 09:59 PM

I just don't hear no talk from Holland about being interested in Suter, he sure talks about guys over in Europe enough, you would think that he would say something...

That has to do with the fact that Suter is still the property of the Nashville Predators until 7/1 or if/when they trade his negotiation rights before then. If Holland were to come out now & say that he's pursuing any pending free agent by name prior to July 1st, the NHL considers that tampering. Teams have been fined and/or had draft picks taken away for that in the past.

If it ends up being the Rangers in the east, the Quick/Lundqvist match-up has the chance of being epic.

#2302796 Chances of landing Parise?

Posted by ogreslayer on 23 May 2012 - 10:41 AM

For all we know Parise (or Suter) could end up in Edmonton.

Whoa, hang on there...Edmonton? That's like saying Parise and/or Suter could wind up in the KHL next year.

#2302294 A general, how I would build a team

Posted by ogreslayer on 20 May 2012 - 10:56 AM

If I had a nickel for every new thread started about how to build this team or who we should add in the offseason, I'd be able to buy the Phoenix Coyotes.

I think you're underestimating a bit. You would be able to afford the Wings, Leafs, or Rangers by now.

#2301811 Red Wings make offer to Damien Brunner

Posted by ogreslayer on 17 May 2012 - 11:53 AM

So what happens when Holland's pick-ups are Brunner & Justin Schultz instead of Parise & Suter? Human sacrifice, dogs & cats living together...mass hysteria?

#2301445 Alex Semin officially going to free agency

Posted by ogreslayer on 15 May 2012 - 10:41 AM

Saw another story where Semin's said he wants to go somewhere he can increase the amount of responsibility he takes on including penalty kill time. Semin on the pk? No thank you.

As far as signing him on the cheap, I don't see that happening. If he's looking to sign for big responsibilities/big minutes that also means big money. Buyer beware imo. I think ultimately, he'll chase the big money all the way to the KHL. If Kenny can't land Parise, it's time to give one of the youngsters like Nyquist or Tatar a chance instead.
