Come one, anyone who says he isn't the best is only a Wings homer. I love Datsyuk, but if you wouldn't have Crosby over Datsyuk, you're crazy. Is Pav's defense better? Of course, but not so much that it overshadows Crosby's offense.

So we're judging "best" based on 10 game sample sizes now? Ooh, ooh, I can play that game too! Malkin's the best! No, wait, I mean Stamkos! Perry! Gagner!!!

10 games over 14 months doth not a best player make. Considering he's probably one hard hit away from the end of his career, the jury's most definitely still out on this one. And FWIW, Philly's neutralized him today.

Come on ....it's not 10 games....he has been the best or in the conversation since 2005. I don't like the kid- he is arrogant and a whiner but when healthy, he is the best player in the NHL. No need for a sample size on that.

The question is not how much the average fan can/will drink, but rather, how can we get the Blues out there?

I realize that many people on this forum weren't born yet when the Red Wings were a bad team. There's a great deal of pride in the accomplishments of one's team, especially when it is improvement over the recent past.

After a number of good years, one tends to take it in stride and expect that the prior results will continue, whereas teams with a history of falling short will show their excitement over small achievements.

And so, in many ways, the Wings fans of today are like adults who are so busy striving for the Big Prize that we fail to stop and appreciate the lesser accomplishments that we achieve on our way to the Big Prize. And the Blues fans are like children who still announce to the entire household, "I made poopoo in the potty!"

******* Kesler... I'm inclined to like people from Michigan, but jesus does he make it hard

I have two good reasons not to like him.

1. He attended Ohio State
2. He grew up cheering for the Minnesota North Stars

It gives you something shiny for one of the Alternate Captains to drive down Woodward with.

If you don't win the Cup, nothing else matters.
