Reckless play by Perry for sure, glad they called a penalty on it but they could just as easily have called nothing. I doubt anything else will come of it, except maybe a few extra whacks with the goalstick next time Perry gets close to the crease.
Also, it didn't look like Howard was trying to embellish anything, he got rocked across the chin with a knee from a pretty big guy who didn't make any effort to avoid contact, looks like a legitimate case of reflexes to me.

Don't think it was a good idea for him to come off the bench to do it, but I don't blame anyone on the Sharks for taking a run at Shaw for that hit, could have been Lemieux/Draper part 2. I catch enough Blackhawks games to realize that I really don't like Andrew Shaw, he acts like he's gunning for Matt Cooke's title of dirtiest player in the NHL.
Back on topic, if the officials ruled that Clowe came off the bench, then he should be suspended, that rule exists for a very good reason.
