Posted by Rick D on 04 November 2013 - 01:13 PM

I have been waiting for so long to see Tootoo, and Helm on the same line. I'm pretty pumped about this.

AdamBombQuist on the PP is going to be awesome too!!

#2443366 Cory Emmerton and Petr Mrazek sent to Grand Rapids

Posted by Rick D on 11 October 2013 - 11:28 AM

Does it feel like they're punishing the wrong player by dropping Alfie to the 3rd & leaving Mule on the 2nd?

Alf hasn't made me scream at the TV yet. Franzen on the other hand...

SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $66,214,545; BONUSES: $3,010,000
CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $1,095,455

- I like the way Bert plays with Pav, and i think he has the offensive abilities to hang on a top line still. If hes injured just move Abby up, or plug Sammy in.

- 2nd line looks like a lot of fire power for a 2nd line. Hopefully Franzen steps up, and scores a ton with the new guys this year.

- 3rd line is the same as last year, but we switch Brunner w/ Tatar, and i think tots plays a more agressive/ defensive game then Brunner. This line was pretty good in the playoffs. i think once they get a little time together this group can be a very effective depth scoring threat.

- 4th line is a new version of the grind line. These three guys don't have a ton of scoring touch, but they would get the job done with hard work alone. Not to mention the amount of penalties they would draw. Id really love to see this line happen.

Dekeyser Smith (probably won't happen, but Smith needs a defensive D-man as a partner)

This is the same thing i was thinking. Deke is a solid defensive defenseman, Smith needs someone like this to partner with so he doesnt get caught pinching.

Bring back Doc Ock!!

#2433399 Who do we Unload, reload on before the season starts?

Posted by Rick D on 15 August 2013 - 04:08 PM

The only issue would be finding someone who would make that trade.

Or to make any trade with us at all.

Teams could just sit around, and wait to see who we try to pass through waivers, and then pick up players w/o having to give us anything in return.

Datsyuk will dangle-handle them all :)

I  don't want Datsyuk to handle anyone's dangle.

If he knew that was expected of him, he would have went home to Russia for sure.

#2421034 Grand Rapids Griffins Win Calder Cup! 5-2 win in game 6

Posted by Rick D on 20 June 2013 - 12:24 PM

I know a lot of people were mentioning the Nyquist/Andersson/Dekeyser/Lashoff journey, but how about the journey of Petr Mrazek.  Watching him play it's tough to remember this is his first year pro.  Seems like last year he was playing those games in the ECHL not this year.  Dude had some unbelievable saves at the end of game 6.

He made a sequence of saves all right in a row with about 5:30- 6:00 left in the game. I said to myself, this kid might have just won the game for us.

I hope he can continue to improve, and keep getting good game time like he is. This guy is hopefully going to be awesome in the future for the Wings.

"The people I do feel badly for in all of this are all of the hockey fans in Anaheim. Now that the rivalry is over and the Wings are moving back East, they'll only get to see their favorite team once every season."
