For someone who i have noticed really focuses the fighting aspect of the sport, you clearly don't really know what you are talking about.
What specific part of my post do you disagree with? I think that when a man intends to attack you and makes his intentions clear, you ought to, you know, prepare to defend yourself. I don't have much sympathy for those who bury their heads in the sand. Roy is guilty of instigating a hockey fight durring a linebrawl. The penalty for that ought be discussed by the referee, not a judge.
Sure you can. Darren McCarty did to Claude Lemieux.
Petit did not want to fight Probert (the 2nd time they went), but Probert made it clear that a fight was coming regardless weather Petit wanted it or not. At least Petit was smart enough to drop his gear and *try* to defend himself - Roy's opponent just stood there, watching Jonathan skate at him with ill intent.
I don't think Johnny Roy was in the right to force a fight on a non-willing opponent, but it's hockey. He didn't jump him, he made his intentions clear. Roy deserved 2 for instigating and a game misconduct, not legal trouble.
I hated it when he left. Hated it, hated it, hated it. I've never known the Red Wings without him. The soreness has given way to acceptance though, as even at the peak of rivalries, other teams fans couldn't hate the guy. No way I can start now, and while I can't say I'll root for the Lightning, I'm far more interested in the team. Love to see what kind of lineup they have after SY gets another couple years to really make it his team.
the bolts are officially #3 favorite team behind the wings (overwhelming favorite) and the hawks (sorry guys).
stevie Y is going about being a GM the same way he went about being a player. learn key elements of success from mentors like lemaire, bowman and holland and apply them to the game. he's already turned the team around in 2 months. TB finishes 3rd in east this year. that top 6 is gonna look real good with conolly in the mix in a year or 2.
I don't celebrate my favorite players birthdays, because it means they're one year older... I wish they could all stay in some weird space-time continuum, where they all stayed in their prime at 28 years old forever...
The annoying little brother that tries but can't quite be like the big brother. I remember they even started blasting their goal horn 3 times instead of once. I wonder what other team they got that idea from?
Yeah and which team was the first team to use the goal horn in the NHL? Oh yeah it was the Hawks.
