#2405953 Red Wings don't belong in the same rink as the Hawks?

Posted by Din758 on 17 May 2013 - 09:43 AM

To all the people who believe this OP quote, did anybody think the Isles belonged on the ice with the Pens after game 1? They ended up taking it to 6. This is the parity filled NHL now, though its very possible we lose the series, its not that crazy to think that we can pull out a win or 2.

Blues can def afford to lose for us too. Still not impossible to jump to 6th. That would give us Nucks first round which ill take all day. Maybe Ducks would be better matchup though. Their goaltending is rough.

This is one we can afford to drop. no need for this one.

#2387678 The Race for Eight: Blue Jackets, Stars, Wings

Posted by Din758 on 22 April 2013 - 11:07 AM

The way we've been playinG...I don't trust us to take a single game against any team in the league in a best-of-seven.

Thats probably a little harsh. Actually really harsh. Were not playing bad, we just cant score (Not scoring does not mean playing bad btw). We outshot Van by 30 and lost in a shootout which luckily we dont have to worry about in the playoffs. You could def say we couldnt win a series which i wouldnt argue, but we would win a single game for sure no matter who we play.

If we dont win 3 of the next 4, we dont deserve it. And even if we were to make it, we'd get laid waste to by chicago, which may happen anyway. Not that I think CHI is that much better where theyd sweep us, but if we dont show up well get murdered.

#2383063 4/11 GDT : Sharks 3 at Red Wings 2 (SO)

Posted by Din758 on 11 April 2013 - 04:45 PM

Whew, this is a big game, basically a playoff game for all intents and purposes. If they don't bring it...then I don't even see the point of them making the playoffs anyway.

Also tonight, STL and MIN....I would want Minny to lose this one, as it seems like it will create some more breathing room in the standings. St. Louis has a game in hand, so they will be harder to catch....they might as well take it.

Dont you mean "all intensive purposes?"

lol i know im just kidding

#2383035 Official: Howard signs 6-year, $31.8m contract extension

Posted by Din758 on 11 April 2013 - 02:52 PM

So we let Howard walk and use the money to sign some snipers? what snipers? Only 2 are availabvle in UFA this year. Clarkson and Horton. that is basicly it, unless you are talking about signing spome more over 30 guys. ok trade for them. Fine, we can do that anyway. but, then we also have ahole at G that needs to be filled. More trades.... this is the right move. howard IS NOT OUR PROBLEM. Nor is his contract. if we have money issues-yet to be seen, it really comes from having so much tied up in forwards that can't produce. Again, nothing to do with Howard.

and we get a good amount of forwards off the books at seasons end. plug in young guys for cheap, we easily have 5-7 mil throw at a scorer in the offseason.

#2383022 Official: Howard signs 6-year, $31.8m contract extension

Posted by Din758 on 11 April 2013 - 02:25 PM

I will be crystal clear for you, Harold. I don't want to be banned again for a disagreement.

We get a LOSS if we score ZERO goals. Our goalie could give up 10 goals. He could give up 1 goal. Doesn't matter. We get a LOSS if we don't score.

So signing ANY goalie to a big contract right now does not help solve our most pressing need right now = SCORING MORE GOALS.

And thus, paying Howard 5 mil a season doesn't do anything EXCEPT decrease any cap space we may have and hinder our inept GM from signing a legitimate sniper.

Perfectly on topic and easy to understand. Do we need to be under 500, not making the playoffs, and last in the league in offense before the general consensus changes? Our defense and goalie are FANTASTIC, but we can't score!! And you have to do that to win!!

ya and if we score 4 goals a game but we have a sucky goalie that gives up 5 we will always lose. the truth is we need both. all you need to win the playoffs is 2-3 goals a game and a good goalie. we have our good goalie and are arguably one player away from being a legit threat next season. in 3 years if the cap is high again youll start to love the jimmy contract when others are getting paid 7-8mil. its not about right now, its going into the future, because its pretty clear we arent winning this year.
