#2194883 Wings sign D Mike Commodore to 1-year, $1m contract

Posted by St. Michael (the Red Wing) on 01 July 2011 - 10:44 PM

Actually it's not that bad of a signing. Commy plays tough and physical hockey. He should be a ***** to play against if he keeps his head on straight and just plays mean tough hockey. Good signing, not great but with this year's ufa's it's not too bad. I'm changing my tune on this. Maybe also Kenny has some surprise up his sleeve, time will tell. I think Commy is going to show Columbus how he can really play when we play them. I also think he's and upgrade over Salei. One year and if it doesn't work out it doesn't work out but if it does, kudos all around!

#2187739 MacDonald Moving on; Salei iffy

Posted by St. Michael (the Red Wing) on 21 June 2011 - 10:17 PM

I like both guys but obvious this is the right choice/decision. I mean I guess there is a long shot chance we re-sign Salei but I doubt it. As for MacDonald, I like him but he's a third string goalie at best if he gets with a NHL team...

what's with all the people so against this?

just because he's 39 and has been in the KHL for a few years?

3 years ago he put up 71 points in the NHL(and 15 points in 10 games in the playoffs),4 years ago he put up 96 points in the NHL,5 years ago he put up 126 points

just one month ago in a tournament with Spezza,Tavares,Nash,Duchene,Havlat,Plekanec,Koivu,Ovechkin,Radulov,Kovalchuk,Gaborik,Hossa and others he was named the best forward

on top of all this he's one of the best players EVER and deserves the benefit of the doubt for that alone

and a bunch of people here don't want him? even on a reasonable 1 year deal? really?

I agree with you he's one of the best players EVER. Well maybe not ever but I see your points being made and I can't argue with you well maybe...

Scares me though this transition from the KHL to the NHL when playing good over here or vice versa there and then coming here. Honestly liked Hudler before he coped out to the KHL and then came back and obviously his game wasn't up too speed. So in that regard it scares me cause let's face it the speed of the game seems almost to get faster ever year in NHL and Jagr isn't getting any younger or faster. Also the season is 82 games plus playoffs in the NHL where in the KHL it's 56 games if I'm not correct with 8 team playoff. But having said that his numbers don't lie and in his prime one of the most dynamic players on the ice. My main concern then is can he show up the entire season? If so one year deal then but cheap please maybe like Modano's but cheaper not too be stingy :D

#2178023 In-depth interview with Ken Holland

Posted by St. Michael (the Red Wing) on 21 May 2011 - 07:50 PM

yeah sounds like we are going to have the same exact team as last season except one year older and probably not as good. Good interview but nothing new happening. :/ Not surprised.

#2176081 Homer needs to be a 4th liner/PP specialist next season..

Posted by St. Michael (the Red Wing) on 15 May 2011 - 11:10 PM

Yeah I somewhat agree Homer and Bert on the top 2 lines doesn't work. Homer should hang em up and unfortunately we are stuck with Bert for one more year.

#2175943 Simple off-season post

Posted by St. Michael (the Red Wing) on 15 May 2011 - 06:11 PM

As I have said a MILLION TIMES now, next season is the 'suck it up' season, as we have final seasons of Bertuzzi, Rafalski and Holmstrom.

The following season we see Tatar, maybe Jarnkrok, maybe Pulkkinen, Lidstrom likely retires and we spend big in free agency.

As far as I can see, this season there's not a lot of changes we can make. Minor changes such as bringing in Mursak and maybe Emmerton will help, but on top of that, what more can we do/would you like to see?

Yeah just re-read some stuff. We are stuck agreed for next season. Umm so yeah Emmerton and Mursak will still be nice.

This is maybe what we need: Helm, Fip and Abby to start scoring some points. They have huge potential to score more than what they show/done already.

Also maybe a roster change isn't in order maybe since our defense was GODAWFUL all season get a new defensive coach. However, Stuart is getting older and I think you can start to see it a bit especially during the regular season where I think sometimes he takes a game or 2 off. I don't know. Get rid of Salei for sure, no Modano back, have Drapes and Ozzie retire and I'm happy. Looking forward more now than ever to the future of this team and some younger guys stepping in. New blood mixed with old blood has always been a postive thing with this organization imo....

Filppula - Datsyuk - Holmstrom
Franzen - Zetterberg - Bertuzzi
Cleary - Helm - Eaves
Abdelkader - Emmerton - Mursak

(Axelsson/Miller)

Lidstrom - Ericsson
Kronwall - Kindl
Stuart - Rafalski

(Salei, Pyett, I don't care)

Howard
Osgood/Larsson

Not that I don't like this but it's basically the same team who got bounced 2 years in a row by the Sharks. No thanks. Us keeping the same team = same results in the playoffs, no Cup. We need one younger hungrier gritty defenseman and the same for (maybe) a top six forward. I like Mursak and he's ready imo but is Emmerton really ready yet probably not. I like Eaves I really do but I think maybe Holland can find someone a bit better I don't know. Lots of questions for next season seemingly having the same roster.

If we have the same team anyone honestly think we can go deep next year in the playoffs. I don't see it happening....

#2144291 Osgood Coming Back Next Year

Posted by St. Michael (the Red Wing) on 08 April 2011 - 11:33 PM

I love Osgood but it's about time innit? Would have loved to had him healthy this season but it is what it is. It's about that time to hang em up...

#2142832 4/6 GDT: Red Wings 0 at Hurricanes 3

Posted by St. Michael (the Red Wing) on 06 April 2011 - 08:14 PM

I find it funny that people actually think this team is gonna turn a switch on for the post season. ****, ****...

#2134610 Helm

Posted by St. Michael (the Red Wing) on 22 March 2011 - 02:51 PM

He's playing like he deserves to be on one of the top 2 lines. Yes Helm should be on one of the top 2 lines ladies and gents...
