#2060971 "Smith is NHL Ready" - Ken Holland

Posted by NotTooAbby on 10 November 2010 - 03:39 PM

who are you implying that we should remove from our current defense?

here's an idea..........Ericsson

get rid of him already. cut ties. trade him for something, anything.
that way we can insert Kindl and Smith, both getting valuable time in the NHL

#2060000 Justin Abdelkader

Posted by NotTooAbby on 08 November 2010 - 09:23 PM

Playing superbly.

Has turned our dreadful 3rd line into our current most productive line.

He hits, he plays with an edge, he's good on faceoffs, he goes hard to the net.

Anyone else really, really like this guy?

he has given life to that which had none. love me some Abby. if it weren't for that untimely injury, he would have been sparking the team for several games prior.

go state, go wings, go abby

#2040192 Abdelkader nails Schenn and fights him

Posted by NotTooAbby on 03 October 2010 - 08:12 PM

Nice check, I LOVE those! I thought those kind of hit were outlawed in the NHL now, any hipchecks below the waist?

It's at hi knees:

I love those hits, I think they should be legal. Too bad about the fight though, I give Apple Fritters major props for sticking up for himself even if he lost the fight.

How about the sweet "POW" on the boards right where Abby hits Schenn.

Clean hip check. Gotta love this kid. Mark my word....when Abby hits 57 games he will have as many hits as the 2nd best player at the end of the year.

Looks like Jimmy has competition.

#2029549 Abdelkader re-signs for 2 years

Posted by NotTooAbby on 26 August 2010 - 07:44 PM

I'm excited. Abby plays a gritty, hard-nosed style and its only appropriate that he learn to stick up for himself when he pushes the opposition too hard.

Needless to say, I expect him to push the opposition too hard.

now this is what im talking about.....very last words "he also got a facefull of knuckles compliments of Justin Abdelkader." lol

#2028081 Lilja: Red Wings only team to offer contract

Posted by NotTooAbby on 21 August 2010 - 03:40 PM

OK someone educate me as to why people refer to Lilja as "pain train"? I cannot figure it out, is it a compliment, or a diss?

Be careful what you say about LIlja and a Pain Train reference...I got about -6 for insinuating that the nickname was laughable. I also went on to explain how i feel Lilja is overrated on the Wings but not in the NHL, as evidence by his no contract offer.

Im assuming its because he's a "hitter" (not my words)....the only thing he hit was the ice when he tried to kill a penalty.

My thoughts: Pain Train is derived from him getting his ass beat so bad in a fight, that he had a concussion/head aches for over a year, and thus he was always in pain, that felt like a freight train. Pain Train.......or was the train actually what the last blow to his head felt like. Either one im sure.

#2027305 Lilja: Red Wings only team to offer contract

Posted by NotTooAbby on 18 August 2010 - 11:04 PM

Hey now, Lilja is a solid defensive defensemen. He can kill penalties, block shots, and hit. He has much more value then Brett Lebda (in my eyes). I think he will be able to find work in the NHL. Idk who with though... lets not be so quick to throw him under the bus.

I get what youre saying but I will be the first one to say...yes he can kill some penalties and block some shots. But there are soooo many times that I would watch Lilja, and E for that matter, and just laugh/scream/shake my head. I DO NOT GET THE LILJA LOVE. Ive heard from other players that hes a great guy....he probably is. But as far as out on the ice, Im a Lebda supporter before Lilja. it doesnt matter anymore since they're both gone.

lets not be so quick to throw him under the bus --- I threw him under almost 2+ years ago long before the concussion. i just didnt see what was so big about him.

#2027301 Lilja: Red Wings only team to offer contract

Posted by NotTooAbby on 18 August 2010 - 10:41 PM

you mean an average defenseman, who was HORRIBLE on our team didnt get another offer......weird.

LIlja--you were out for forever with a concusion. do u expect a raise just because you came back?

--and I will forever be confused as to why there is so much love for "the pain train" he is absurdly overrated and that nickname is laughable...good luck in the KHL, if it's still standing come start of the season.

#1997362 Red Wings Sign Doug Janik to 2 year deal

Posted by NotTooAbby on 10 June 2010 - 01:20 AM

Cant wait to see Janik playing some minutes for us, maybe he can start to add back some of that grit we've been lacking. I hate seeing our guys getting molested and facewashed in our own crease...its embarrassing. Im figuring he'll play 20 games by season end.....with about 12-14 pts. that would be nice....and a few fights too.

Im surprised that Tuzz is still in negotations....was hoping that they would tie up the loose ends a little quicker. I think he wants a little more money, just another couple 100k or so. WE NEED TO SIGN ABBY AND HELM!!! Its a must! Grit, speed, tenacity and non stop hustle...we need that bad. Eaves and Miller, I like em and I think they'll probably sign.

Now whether or not we should keep one or both, or neither......eh, I dont know. As for Meech...its probably game over as far as the Wings are concerned, even though I liked him. Malts is gonna "Retire" and Ole.....Ole can play in GR.

And thank god J-Will is gone....for the last time.

#1997355 Toews: Most undeserving Conn Smyth winner in history?

Posted by NotTooAbby on 10 June 2010 - 01:06 AM

Im 99% sure that the crappy announcers for NBC commented on Toews and his subpar numbers for the playoffs, referencing how he needed to "Get in there more" and "Get more involved." LOL....29 points which ties a franchise record with Savard.....NBC really knows their stuff.

Hes Canadian and he gracious (Where's Hossa? upon looking to pass the cup)

Niemi comes to mind, but his numbers were pretty bad considering they won.....if you saw it years from now, there's no way you think it was Cup quality.

Hell, Chrissy Pronger didn't win...im happy

Lidstromboli....sorry buddy..got rambling and im hitting the sauce

#1968108 It's Official: Happy Hudler is Back

Posted by NotTooAbby on 30 April 2010 - 12:21 PM

one half is saying he bitter that he left...the other more reasonable half is HAPPY that HUDLER is coming back. Cant wait to see his hilarious face when he scores and the PP just got a better.

I wonder if Jimmy and Huds will have their own victory thing like Huds and Ozzy cluck.

The Cluck.

#1921381 San Jose blown out

Posted by NotTooAbby on 21 March 2010 - 11:40 PM

San Jose Sharks are like a pornstar with erectile dysfunction.

Yes...You have an 11 inch penis, but what good is it if you get too nervous and can't get the damn thing up when it matters most???

l

lol.....great analogy. You gotta be like Costanza and go out on top. You peaked to early...no pun intended.

#1920067 Ericsson may play forward

Posted by NotTooAbby on 20 March 2010 - 09:19 PM

E as a forward is interesting. Maybe he will have more energy or at least the appearance of more energy out there. He looks like he's tired, disinterested, and overall just out of place in just about the last 10 games he's played in. Now I realize that he has made good plays and that he has looked bad in more that just the last 10 games, but I'm being conservative. IF Ericsson can throw around that massive piece of matter he calls his body, then he has a chance. I mentioned it earlier in another post, if perhaps since E's demise his time was/is limited. If so, maybe a trade is in order to maximize/minimize our gains/losses.

Its already being discussed some of the worst drafts/trades/acquisitions that seemed good and failed, and I don't want to miss out on an opportunity if we need to cut bait and bail.

I hope E does well as a Forward, and if not then he better get his s*** together on D, otherwise his days are numbered.
