Good luck to your team for the rest of the playoffs though I won't be cheering for them(I'm a little bitter about officiating and the bit of diving from your favorite team the first 2 games) and I hope you stop by these forums next season for the Wings vs Sharks games!

I cannot go along with that... I think Mickey's summation at the end of the broadcast summed it up.  SJ deserved full credit for winning this thing, but the refs didn't help matters.  That no-call on the hit on Franzen was the bad officiating coup de grace of the whole series.

I'm having trouble separating the two. In my mind, SJ played well enough to be in position to win four of five games ... and in at least three of those, had a substantial amount of help. What if they make that call on Murray? What if there's not a ridiculous 5-on-3 for the Sharks in game 1? I mean, the list goes on and on. When the refs have the ability to play as big of a role as they do in the NHL, it's worthless to try and remove them from the equation. The Sharks had the benefit of the officiating for almost the entire series, and when it did lean their way, it did so at EXTREMELY important moments.

Read between the lines, Babs is blaming the refs for the loss in the series.  Can't really blame him.

i have to say this was a great series. other then the blowout in game 4 the wings were in every minute of every game this series. Good luck next season.

Oh, stop blaming the referees. When you don't win face-offs, don't play with any strength or heart, or any "give a damn", you're going to lose. And the Sharks showed Detroit that. Not that Detroit gives a damn.

Yeah, there were tons of bad calls against Detroit. The winning goal came off a non-call. Who cares. They had PLENTY of time to get back in the game.

This Detroit team deserved to lose. Call me an idiot, a bandwagon fan, whatever. If they played like game #4, I would be singing a different tune. But they only played like they wanted to win twice in these playoffs. Sorry, but no matter how big of a fan I am, I'm not going to pretend like they are superheroes. Instead I am going to see them for what they were this postseason: Real people with a bad work ethic. If your co-workers were lazy, you'd be pissed too.

You know what?  I can't argue with you on any of that.  However, one could make a case that despite being outplayed or outhusseled, despite losing faceoffs (other than on PK's), despite playing with a lack of heart, it took bad calls or bad non calls to put the dagger in in all 4 of SJ's wins.  You could make a pretty solid case there.  I even want to go so far as to say it's the Wings own fault for having to chase the puck more than being on possession of the puck, but some crucial calls weren't even because of that.  

I don't know, it's just hard to swallow.  SJ deserves to win, and they get the credit, but boy they sure had a lot of help.

I somehow feel that if Kirk Maltby was healthy in these playoffs, things would have been different.

Never over a 7 day period have I developed as much hatred for a fan base as I have during this past week. Since this series started I have lost respect more and more for the Red Wings fans. For an original 6 franchise that has won many cups, and have won recently they are the biggest bunch of a-hole cry babies ever. I don't know if its because of the modern day blogging or how ridiculous the media has become now-a-days with needing to make everything into a story but I have read so much ridiculous s**t over the past 7 days that I want to puke. Whether its the cries of "The refs hate us, the NHL wants us to lose", or the BS blogging quotes:

"Punk. I love how someone can call the Sharks team childish after 3 games in a row an entire fan base blamed their losses on referees and then proceeded to wear tin foil hats to the first home game because they feared a conspiracy against the NHL's "precious Red Wings".

And this George Malik guy is a joke. I don't know how anyone can call Thornton or Marleau punks, especially when their team is employing the biggest punk of all time Todd Bertuzzi. Marleau and Thornton are completely the opposite of punks, they are soft. I read that Red Wings fans who commented on yahoo sports page said "you know what your getting when you read George Malik's blog, so you can't be mad". Yea you are getting an idiot who sees only through Red glasses.

I'm pretty much done venting I am just praying that the Sharks can win on saturday for several reasons:
1. We can move past this Red Wings mental curse finally.
2. The NHL media can shut the f**k up about choke acts.
3. Red Wing fans/bloggers can cry themselves a river but atleast it won't be in the news anymore.
4. My hatred for the Wings fans/bloggers can be changed to pity.

Lastly I feel bad for the players of the Red Wings franchise because as much as I hate the team they have some amazing players and future hall-of-famers, it's sad they are disgraced with such pathetic fans/bloggers.

Wow, so much for all the false hatertude that this man has gotten on this very forum all year, eh?  He has been dominant for the hated Chicago Blackhawks, eh?  He is a large contributer to Chicago's success against the Canucks in Canada.  How much do Wing fans wish they still had Kopekcy or, at least, that he wasn't a Chicago Blackhawk?  Man, those Blackhawks are good.
