#2239534 Your MVP Thus Far

Posted by MulesWillFly93 on 28 December 2011 - 01:42 PM

James Tiberius Howard, everybody. Like a baws.

Datsyuk and Lidstrom have also been playing their guts out, White's been a great surprise, and Filppula has definitely taken it up a notch. Also, I wouldn't give them year-long MVP awards, but lately Miller and Zetterberg have been playing better, which I'm really glad to see.

Wait, the Wings are playing tonight?

You mean I'm not watching the Chilean World Juniors team? Huh.

#2228844 Crosby coming back

Posted by MulesWillFly93 on 22 November 2011 - 09:00 PM

LOL at people bringing up how the Islanders are a horrible team. It's not like Crosby ever scores points against any of the good teams in the league, right?

This blind hatred is really funny sometimes.

Of course he's going to score points against good teams - he's a good player, like him or not. It's not about Sid; it's about the media. They're ready to hand the Pens the Cup right here and now based on ONE GAME he played in. Could the Pens win the Cup this year? Sure. But I expect media professionals to make that prediction based on some solid stats collected over a period of time. I do expect the Pens to do well, especially with Crosby back, but I'm not going to declare it the Second Coming and demand that Bettman cancel the playoffs this year and give the Pens the Cup now. based on a game against the Islanders. If that's blind hate, then the blind haters still have a lot more sense left than the hockey media does.

Anyone know if the Cup is in the building tonight?

I mean with all due respect to Chicago, Vancouver, Washington and San Jose, I think it may be a good idea to cap the season here and now.

Do we really have to respect San Jose?

#2217219 Somebody at the NHL Network has a sense of humor

Posted by MulesWillFly93 on 22 October 2011 - 02:26 PM

Ha, that's great! I wonder what the heck caused it... I did see a car the other day with a Whalers sticker on it - maybe we really are in a time warp! As long as it's the 1996-97 season, the last season they were in the league, I'm okay with that. ;)

#2214420 How Do You Feel About The Southeast?

Posted by MulesWillFly93 on 12 October 2011 - 10:12 PM

Well, that would TOTALLY fix the problem! Instead of having Winnipeg in the SE, which obviously makes no sense because of its northerly location, let's put Detroit in the SE - it's WAY closer to the southeastern United States than Winnipeg is!

I don't know why I'm wasting sarcasm on this because I really don't think this is going to happen. This just seems a little too illogical even for the NHL. For as many bonehead moves as they make, I still don't think they would waste their time on something so ineffectual. Whatever...not going to waste time trying to understand it until it happens.

#2213294 10/7 GDT:Senators 3 at Red Wings 5

Posted by MulesWillFly93 on 07 October 2011 - 08:58 PM

I liked our 5 goals; I didn't like their 3 goals. More PK practice for everyone. Anyway, a big heck yeah to Bert for scoring the first goal of the year; ditto to Lidstrom looking like Datsyuk, White looking like Lidstrom, and double ditto for Emmerton and Hudler pleasantly surprising me. GAWD I'm glad hockey's back!!!

#2205562 Wings Preview on HockeyBuzz

Posted by MulesWillFly93 on 30 August 2011 - 09:26 PM

That was a pointless post.

Just another pointless post in a pointless thread, if you ask me. How exactly does the opinion of some idiot at HockeyBuzz of all places have any importance whatsoever? I realize it's the off-season and that we're not going to get any interesting news for at least a few more weeks, but why not post something from a blog that isn't a complete joke?

#2199994 Chris Osgood announces retirement

Posted by MulesWillFly93 on 20 July 2011 - 09:57 PM

He's got a portrait of Dorian Gray in his attic.

Right?! My exact thoughts earlier today were 1) I can't believe he's retiring, and 2) I can't believe he's OLD enough TO retire...judging by his looks, surely he's got another 10 years in him!

I will miss that guy immensely. I know I've criticized him in the past, but you know I appreciate every achievement he's helped us reach. Been moody and listening to Skynyrd's Tuesday's Gone and Freebird (my official "now it's time to say goodbye" songs, for some reason) all day yesterday and today. Fly on, Freebird.

#2197473 Emmerton vs. Conner

Posted by MulesWillFly93 on 09 July 2011 - 12:04 AM

I wanna say Emmerton because he's been in the system for this long.. but I gotta go with Conner, him and Helm on the same line is too much for me too pass up on.

Same here. I don't know much about Conner, but if he's as speedy as everybody says, that would be fun to see!

Would also like to say that if the Isles claim either off waivers, you will be able to hear me scream all the way over on Long Island.

#2197469 Ranking NHL Broadcasters

Posted by MulesWillFly93 on 08 July 2011 - 11:58 PM

Oh, okay, so they're mostly chewing out Mickey and Murph...I can see that. I was going to say, "Gosh, I can see how Mickey might not be a favorite with non-fans, but how can you badmouth Ken?" Answer: they didn't.

Murph makes you go "huh?" at first, but once you figure out he's plastered, it's a friggin' ball listening to him. Mickey's just a really big personality...you either like him or you don't, I guess.

I can't believe they would give any broadcast including Eddie Olczyk more than one star...I'll take Mickey's tall tales over Olczyk's herp de derp any day. I do agree that the Kings announcers are great and that the Ducks guys are infuriating, though.

#2186263 Congrats to Timmy Thomas

Posted by MulesWillFly93 on 16 June 2011 - 04:02 PM

Well done, Timmy! Scratch that - awesomely done! I love a comeback story and I love a kick-some-ass story, so to have the two combined is pretty sweet, and it couldn't happen to a cooler guy. Congrats on the Cup and the Conn Smythe - enjoy!

#2183213 NHL local ratings for game 1-Nashiville tied for 7th

Posted by MulesWillFly93 on 07 June 2011 - 06:14 AM

Yayyy San Diego for coming in 13th! No, seriously, we never get excited about anything around here, so that's pretty good for us. We did better than a certain city east of us which has a hockey team and a higher population, too, ahem. (Gosh darn it, can't we even get a minor league team up in here?!)

#2180775 The Hottest Red Wing

Posted by MulesWillFly93 on 29 May 2011 - 03:43 AM

What I Did on My Summer Vacation
by the Detroit Red Wings

Posted Image
Jimmy Howard: Was really disappointed to learn the audition for a Miracle remake was a joke, but didn't get a haircut anyway.
Todd Bertuzzi: Pitched no-hitter for the Tigers

Posted Image
Henrik Zetterberg: Created "Sweaterberg" line of cardigans

Posted Image
Pavel Datsyuk: Took two suitcases' worth of stolen pucks home to Russia for his collection...and those were just from the playoffs.

Posted Image
Kris Draper: Pondered life's eternal mysteries, like why hockey players all have to go to the restroom as a group.

#2175116 Who Stays? Who Goes?

Posted by MulesWillFly93 on 13 May 2011 - 01:43 PM

I voted for McCrimmon, Hudler, Ericsson, and Salei. Filppula I could take or leave, too, but if he stays, I won't be ticked. I'm not over the moon about MacDonald, but he's got the right price tag on him, so if they want to keep him and use the money saved to bone up on defense instead, that's fine with me.

I didn't vote for anybody who's possibly just going to retire anyway, so I left out Modano, Ozzie, and Draper. Oz and Drapes can stay if they want, even if they shouldn't.
