Picking up Kyle Quincey was momumental in filling the void once Lidstrom retired.

#2436079 Cleary re-signs with Detroit, 1 year, $1.75m deal

Posted by Crymson on 12 September 2013 - 10:28 AM

Gee, great. At least it's only for a year.

Cleary had better have an excellent year. Otherwise I'm going to do some very extreme nothing, because there's nothing I can do.

#2327766 One Dumb move made by each team this offseason

Posted by Z Winged Dangler on 05 September 2012 - 07:59 AM

http://bleacherrepor...-summer/page/11

While looking at the Franzen trade bait article I came across this gem. It says what the dumb move each team made this offseason is, and apparently the Wings' 1 bad one is not signing Ryan Suter.

Article for Wings part:

Yes, Detroit had no power in where Ryan Suter chose to play next season, but the price for Suter not signing in Detroit will be heavy for the Red Wings. With the retirement of Nick Lidstrom and departure of Brad Stuart, the Red Wings' defense is now led by Niklas Kronwall.
No offense to Kronwall, but he is a huge step down from the likes of Lidstom and Suter. The Red Wings needed to bring in a replacement and they couldn't.
For the first time in a long time, things are not looking so good in the Motor City.

I bolded my favorite parts. Their 1 dumb move is something they had no control over, and apparently Kronwall is a huge step down from not only Lidstrom (understandable...who isn't?) and also Suter... I call BS on the 2nd one.

Figured i'd comment on the Wings one. But since things are so slow with CBA talks at a halt, let's hash over all of them...

Okay this might be a bunch of waiting for nothing

Funny, that's what my wife told me last night.

:P

Thanks, Franzen. Like we didn't think you were slow and lazy before.

Asking price for Parenteau is top-propect or roster player and a 1st round pick.

No thanks.

Mike Commodore to Tampa Bay for a Conditional 7th round pick.

Thanks, Franzen. Like we didn't think you were slow and lazy before.

so exactly what was your problem with my statement? i don't want holland to sit on this cap space when the team has obvious needs to address.

do you disagree with that?

or did you want to insult me again? i'd report those posts to a mod, but oh, what a surprise...you are one!

If you don't like it you could always just leave. I doubt many tears would be shed over your constant trolling.

I'm considering offering you to the Jackets board in return for one fan who has been patient through all of their misery and would appreciate the s*** out of rooting for a team like the Wings. But I wouldn't do that to them, hell, I wouldn't even wish you on the Sharks.

i have a NMC, sorry.

"Fans" like you are so ignorant and childish.

the team has no needs, right? sure.

#2245980 Top teams are looking to deal

Posted by LeftWinger on 16 January 2012 - 11:35 AM

Well, considering the teams you named that are willing to give up a 1st rounder, it would seem if Holland was willing to give up a 1st rounder that he would get the better in return since it will more than likely be a higher pick than Boston or Chicago or Vancouver or maybe even St. Louis. I would hope that the Wings finish higher, but it really doesn't matter, because if you are gonna win the Cup, you are gonna have to learn to win on the road anyhow.

Regarding making a move, I really hope Holland takes that huge jump and gets a top line player. Who that may be, I am not sure, but the names that have been surfacing would all help more than us losing a Hudler or Franzen would hurt. Perry, Ryan, Iginla, Doan, Parise, etc... I would love to see a huge move at the deadline, but would also be OK with a Hemsky or Moen and maybe an actual NHL defender coming here. I like Commodore, and I can stand Kindl a little, but they are both 7th d-men. IF Holland could score a veteran defender rental for a solid Cup run (Hal Gill type) I think we would be sitting pretty! Oh and all respect to Conklin, but if Holland can land Nabokov for the Cup run then I am all for it!

If this team acquired Hemsky for a top 6 forward, Moen & Gill to shore up the bottom 6 and defense and of course Nabby to solidify the goaltender position. Then if it doesn't work, go for a revamp come July 1st which is on my wish list, a #1 defender to replace Lidstrom (eventually) and TWO legit top snipers...who or from where? Don't know.

EDIT:  DOn't get what part of this deserves a neg...as usually people won't explain or debate why they disagree.

I will be streaming this game at http://freeredwings.tv. I will be using Veetle to stream the game because I have had problems with flash providers in the past week. You will need to install the Veetle plugin to view the stream.

Have you tried justin.tv?

Gary Bettman is stepping down as commissioner, and announcing that he and Sidney Crosby are getting married and moving upstate to run a small bed-and-breakfast in the Adirondacks. The league will henceforth be run by the Puck-O-Tron 3000. Think R2D2, but way smarter about hockey. Which would be a step above Bettman anyway.

#2010088 Getflaf for Zetter

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 04 July 2010 - 07:02 PM

Getzlaf had a much better year than Hank and is a younger player with more potential.

Hank is 30 years old and it's doubtful that he hasn't hit his peak already. Hank is better defensively, but Getzlaf is more physical and will only improve defensively. Zetterberg has a tendency now to disappear for stretches at a time.

I know people here are biased, but Getzlaf was a better player last year than Zetterberg, and even though Hank has had great seasons in the past, we have to go by the most recent outing and also realize that Getzlaf hasn't hit his prime yet.

With that said, I'd keep Hank, because I don't like Getzlaf and wouldn't want to see us trade our future captain away. But as far as who the better player is right now, I say it's Getzlaf, and I don't care if every dumb slappy here negs me for actually being objective.
