#2517514 NHL lacks class.

Posted by canadalefty on 27 April 2014 - 12:56 AM

I've been a 'Wings fan for 33years. The Red Wings have played with class, dignity and style for so many years, and it makes me proud to be a wings fan! Watching this year's playoffs has been disgusting, from Duncan Keith's "wakey, wakey" taunting of the obviously concussed David Backes, after two, vicious, non called slashes, one of them on Backes(probably having him hear"footsteps", setting up Seabrook), and Matt Cooke, not much needs to be said there, how about Marchand and his "which leg did I hurt?" moment. There is no point to a regular season if it is no holds barred in the post season. I'd rather watch my team get bounced in the first round, than watch them play with no class and make it to the finals. Detroit has won championships by staying classy, and I'm OK waiting until they can win with class, not the garbage that Boston and Chicago feel fits their fans! I grew up in Ken Holland's hometown, my Dad was close with his Dad, all class acts, there is pride in winning with integrity, pride is nonexistent without integrity!

STAY CLASSY DETROIT!!

I can't believe some people are crying to fire Babcock... the best coach in hockey.  Unreal.  Seriously people, take off the homer glasses here, think clearly and realistically.  This team that we have, has no chance against Boston.  Not because of coaching, because of talent.  Boston is stronger, bigger, more talented in every area.  From net, to defensemen, to their forwards.  Add in the fact that Datsyuk clearly is struggling with his injury still, and Zetterberg as well, then combine the fact that the rest of the roster is full of guys who played in the AHL last year, and you should easily be able to see what the problem is here.  It's not the coach.  It's an inexperienced roster, filled with injuries up against the team that is probably going to win the cup.

Lets be serious here rather than trying to point the blame at Babcock, or even Holland for that matter... If it wasnt for all these kids currently playing on the Wings that were drafted... we wouldn't even be in the damn playoffs today.  The fact that we even are is a miracle on its own the way this season went, without a guy like Babcock behind the bench steering those kids adn getting the best out of them down the stretch, you could shoot a cannon through this forum right now it would be so empty.

Thanks for your post. I really hope those calling for Babcock's head will read it.

I would go even a bit further saying that with the roster we have we play fairly good against one the best teams in the NHL.

i think some people on here just need to realize that sometimes the other team is just flat out better.

i could think of many times in this playoffs alone where a team has surrendered a two goal lead.

It's total BS that a skill-less player like Marchand is allowed to hack away at Zetterberg as Z stares at the refs asking why he's being cross-checked over and over again.

Bunch of Boston goons.

This is the leagues fault. This kind of player is why the talent in the nhl is always injured.

That's the Wings fault.  Put some tougher players on our team, and Marchand won't crosscheck Zetterberg.

1 Goal in his last 21 games...  Man that's pathetic.  Way to go Franzen.

Add the fact that he brings nothing else to the table other than scoring and hes a waste.

How good is Boston at team defense? Just look at their goaltending stats this season.

Rask: 2.04GAA, .930SvPct, 36-15-6-7

Chad Johnson & Niklas Svedberg: 2.10GAA, .931 SvPct, 18-4-3-2

There's essentially zero dropoff from the possible Vezina winner to the no-name backups (who actually had a  better won-loss record). Granted, it's harder when you're the top guy and you have a heavier workload, but I think it shows that while Rask is excellent, the Bruins also put him in a position to excel.

Seriously. We are making Rask look far better than he is the way we're shooting and managing the puck in their zone.

umm Rask has a career GAA of 2.11 and sv% of .928, and in the playoffs it's even better, 2.04GAA and .933 sv%. Rask IS that good

how do you not call that interference on Lucic?!?!?!

Because the sun's rays were not properly aligned with the exact latitude and longitude of the linesman's wife's first cousin's house, silly!

Is it just that the team is quitting on Babs? I'm looking for a simple, all-encompassing answer here. I don't get it. How can we suck this bad?

boston is just that much better than our grand rapids red wings

Say what you want about that first goal, but they let him walk right into the zone on that power play. You can't let them do that. Way too easy.

The Bruins have superb forwards, defense, goaltending, PP, penalty killing, hitting, and prolly have more facial hair. This was going to be a miracle to take them out in this series and everyone here knows it. We can hang with them for one game but in a best of 7 series, the better team always surfaces.

I just can't help but think he's being showcased, specifically to Edmonton.

Maybe. But Gusty's injured, and you don't wanna play a guy (Howard) back-to-back. So, either way, he had to start.

His trade value is very high, he's stuck behind Howie for quite a few years and we'll have jake Patterson coming up soon enough.

Mrazek is way better than Patterson.
