Problem is, I have a better chance of winning the Lottery than us having a full season with a healthy Pav, Z, Weiss and Alfie....and Helm, Ericsson, Kronwall, Franzen, Howard, Cleary....everyone of them will be hurt at some point of the season...I just beg that its not all at the same time.
You clearly don't understand your lottery chances sir.
Relax Kip, if you go back and re-read everything I've said about Green, I've said several times that I wouldn't part with any of our top players or prospects, including Tatar. There is no way Green on an expiring contract is worth that. I just stated to the people that would be offering up Pulkkinen, I would think twice about trading him away...
I am going to say it again. I would much rather include Tatar over Pulkkinen in any trade. Tatar has much more value in a trade right now and I think Pulkkinen, if he reaches his potential, would have more value to us in the future.
He would absolutely be a great addition to the team, like everyone else is saying, as long as it doesn't cost us too much in assets. There is no way the Caps would get any of our top players or prospects, so no they would not be asking for Jurco. Green is on the last year of his contract, and is slightly overpaid in my opinion, and the Caps need to trim a player from their blue line and they need cap space to sign another decent forward. All of this is what makes the Caps (Green) a perfect trade partner for us. But then again, I'm sure there are a lot of other teams that may be thinking the same thing, so let's hope Holland can make a reasonable offer without giving up too much of the future...
Another thing about Green is, I'm not sure how bad he really is defensively. I mean, I'm positive he's not going to be some stud shutdown defender. But I always take reports about Washington players being "lazy" or "bad defensively" or "not a team player" with a grain of salt. They've bred a culture of lazy, defensively irresponsible, play for years. When guys go there, they play poor defense and are lackluster, and when they leave they play good hockey.
I think part of the reason why they picked Trotz was to change all that. Green has the skating and size to be a decent defender, not great...but decent. Like Rafalski. Could Green be that for someone other than Washington? I don't know. But I'm pretty positive he's never, in his entire career, been asked to be up to this point.
Good point about Babcock...until he is gone, this team is stuck in a rut. Legwand waived his NTC because he wanted to play here, but after what Babcock did to him, he bolted. Babcock is the issue why no good UFA wants to come here...and its no secret why Canada is going in a different direction for their Olympic team next time.
The back to back Gold medals is a big underachievement.
They were just examples, and I am glad folks agree that there are players in the league that have more value than Zetterberg. And know that I am not for trading Pav or Z unless it is for the likes of a player of their stature...I am not about just throwing them away for a rebuild, they'd have to bring in a new nucleus to our core.
Like I said, I am not saying trade them, I'd like to win it again with them, but the way Holland has been doing things the last few years, it ain't happening...
and I mean, the shriveled old man he is slowly going to turn into as his contracts expires...I give him full credit and appreciation for what he does and has done, but once Pav goes, Z becomes that much less effective and has the years come off his contract, he will start to turn old and not very effective at all.
My god, this place has gotten so bad that we are talking about trading Z and D now?
I hear you there is not a player on this planet I would trade those two for not 1 in the long run I want to say that z and d where wings for life never once giving up on the potential for our young core to spring to life and show a lot of the naysayers that we can possibly do wonders with them
Last season, Buff scored 56 points in 78 games, 256 shots, 213 hits and 80 blocked shots. For someone that plays that physical, still managed under 100 PIM.
Just saying, heavy point shot PP guy that rips it on net a LOT, will take the body and put up points like a top 6 forward, i'll take him in a second. Sounds like he has a lot of attributes we were severely lacking last season, especially in playoffs.
