He also committed some unpleasant giveaways, but those occurred mostly from inexperience with the system.

I thought turnovers were the system.

Has been this season, at least.

Lucky win

But screw off to all the Datsyuk haters tonight.

#2380762 Holland retirement watch?

Posted by Z Winged Dangler on 05 April 2013 - 12:51 PM

lmao seriously you cannot be serious.. we can poll 1000 red wings fans and i can get 995 would say he's garbage.

Kindl has been "garbage" the past 2 games.  Other than that he's actually transformed into a good Dman for the Wings.  The main problems on our blue line are the odd rookie mistake, but we're in a transition so those are excusable, and guys like White, Coliacovo and Quincey being "garbage".

#2380787 Nyquist thoughts

Posted by Dabura on 05 April 2013 - 02:02 PM

There was one shift, it was recent, against the Avs. I think. If memory serves, we were bumbling around in our own zone. General stupidity and laziness and a touch of sheer incompetence. But then, Glory Be to God, Nyquist got ahold of the puck and, all of three seconds later, he was tearing into the o-zone like some kind of human missile thing. I don't remember what happened after that, but I'll tell you what, I'm generally very cynical, pessimistic about this team, and so it takes a lot for me to go, "Wow." And I went "Wow." It made me realize how slow of foot - and teeth-gnashingly namby pamby - we generally are. It was refreshing. It was pretty awesome.

As requested, pictures.  I stopped taking pictures of the game when we started sucking.  Sorry for s***ty quality.

Warmups.  Good luck, Cleary.  We all know you need it.

Zetterprofile

Coca Cola pulled his groin immediately after this picture was taken.

Gametime!  Opening faceoff:

It's my Toots in a box!  My Toots in a box, baby...

Franzen doing...whatever it is that he does best.

Kronner's sick of your s***, refs.

Whatever.  LGW.

Franzen was picking his nose there dude.  It got stuck for a few shifts.

they suck that is all, lost to a team full of plugs and a backup goalie

bless Datsyuk but the team is not good

i hope im wrong on this but goodnight sweet playoff streak

That's why I refer to many of our players as "line-up tampons".  All they do is stop a little of the bleeding and fill a hole.  The girls may not enjoy this analogy, but can admit it's truth and it's comparison for some of our guys.  We sign Danny D and he gets to watch some Red Wing hockey, although not exactly what he grew up watching.  Coliacovo is a line-up tampon and his spot belongs to Dekeyser, whom Holland asked to join the team to make it better.

And Babs was worried about putting in DD... Would have been an improvement by the looks of these games...

We don't need Tatar.
Goals and hunger are overrated in hockey.

good thing that gaborik guy didn't come to Detroit.  I mean a goal and assist?  Who needs that?!?!?!

#2379913 Nyquist, Tatar, dekeyser

Posted by Z Winged Dangler on 03 April 2013 - 08:25 PM

Yep. Give him more minutes and better linemates and we will see more of that

Like when he gave Brunner a beauty of a pass last game and helped him snap a 16 game goal drought.  I certainly like that pair.

#2379316 Babcock loving this young group, Abby thinks any team can win it, and

Posted by Z Winged Dangler on 03 April 2013 - 12:26 PM

There are hardly any worthwhile players available at even semi-reasonable prices at this deadline. Babcock knows this, so what do you expect him to say? Do you think he'll haul off and exclaim, "Oh, I think we're totally screwed. We just don't have the talent to make it. Everyone should just stop hoping right now. Playoffs? Don't talk about playoffs!"

Seriously, enough. The team is good enough to make the playoffs, and there are a lot of great young players in the system.

Injuries or not, Tatar needs to be back up for playoffs and without sending Nyquist down.

#2379470 Official NHL Trade Deadline thread

Posted by Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot) on 03 April 2013 - 01:49 PM

Were they dealt at the trade deadline? Okay. It should probably be discussed in the trade deadline thread.....
FFS people, the damn thread has exists for what, 2-3 DAYS?!

I don't feel like sorting through all that BS. Maybe if the thread was reserved for breaking news and deals only, but it is full of rampant speculation and flame wars.

I guess I have no problems with that except isn't Bert gonna be back soon?
Also we don't really know what Helm's status is either? Meaning this season?
Don't forget Sammy!!!
I tend to usually leave my line combos to the coach.
Even if I dislike what Babs lines are.

What your saying right here is the problem. Weather it's babs or holland or a combination of both but we value players like Sammy, cleary, miller, eaves, etc over guys like Tatar and nyquist. You can't honestly tell me those guys are better. If Tatar and nyquist wer up playing solid roles all year we would be in a better spot then we are now. As well they would be even better players than they already are.

It's nice to have vets, but when your stars are already vets it comes to the point where we don't need guys like cleary, Sammy, miller, etc. are best players are vets and have been there in the playoffs. They are perfect for guys like Nyq and Tatar.

We are not a team like Edmonton where are whole top 6 is under 25 years old and we need vets to fill the depth to help the young guys. We have enough veteran presents. What we need is some utheful enthusiasm up front.

Tatar and nyquist will help provide that. Please babs and Kenny free these two!

#2378099 Bouwmeester to Blues

Posted by AusWing40 on 01 April 2013 - 07:51 PM

I'm so happy.

Wings winning
Brunner scored
Bouwmeester not coming to detroit

#2377810 Holland: "We don't need depth...Need a top guy"

Posted by Z Winged Dangler on 01 April 2013 - 04:52 PM

Well apparently we're still in on Bouwmeester, so that's probably what he's talking about.

I truly hope not.  That's all we need is another big Dman that doesn't hit.  There's a reason he's the NHL's iron man, he's softer than melting butter.  And his contract is terrible.  I'd be ok with Pominville, but the one thing I'm wondering is if Flip wants 5 mil per, are we gonna let him walk and get nothing?  I think Kenny's priority should be getting a 1st rounder for Flip and sending him to whoever wants him for that price, and Anaheim would be my guess cause he's buddies with Selanne and could help the Ducks out a lot.
