#2361238 2/24 GDT : Canucks 3 at Red Wings 8

Posted by FlashyG on 25 February 2013 - 05:17 PM

Last nights whining from Canucks fans has inspired a new GDT for me.

Hockeytown0001 already does a fantastic job with them here so mine won't be necessary, but here is the header, which I'll add the rosters/stats and standings to.

WTF is all this 2.0 bull? Can't a player be a player? Brunner is Brunner...period. He has 10 goals in 19 games, which would equate to apprx. 42 goals over an entire season. He is/was a great find and we have Stacy Roest to thank for him, not Andersson, not Holland.  He should be re-signed, he should get about $2M and he should be our best scorer since Hossa. He has proven he can play in the NHL and deserves to stay. No way Holland lets this guy walk, he didn't cost him an asset or a draft pick. He is found money basically.  But in no way is he anyone 2.0...he is Damien Brunner and he has arrived in the NHL...Thank you Stacy.

Cleary is approaching Tatar numbers with twice the games and double the ice time!  Take that "lovers"!

Hey, does Cleary have a goal scoring streak now? I thought he was supposed to be the worst hockey player on the planet based on some of the posts here.

Players with more even strength points who play substantially less minutes:

Miller
Eaves
Tatar
Tootoo
Bertuzzi (who has played only seven games this season )

Even Lashoff has more ESP.

Cleary is terrible, his points (which are only a handful) come on the PP.

From ESPN:

Steve Levy:  "Vancouver is one of my favorite teams to watch.  There's drama surrounding the team right.  They win more than they lose, but they are a fun team to watch."

Barry Melrose:  "And diving is your favorite sport in the Olympics"

Steve Levy:  "Why do you gotta bring up Ryan Kessler?"

#2360144 2/23 GDT : Nashville Predators 0 at Red Wings 4

Quote me a post where someone said he was awesome.

Clearly had a good game tonight and the majority of his chances were not only because of Dats.  And like it or not he gets more time than Tatar because he can play on the PP and the PK.  Like I said before, he's a utility player.

Cleary's been having a rough season but people underestimate the difference between the responsibilities of 10 minutes a night and those of 17+.

Like I said before, he's not been great so far this season, but the bashing here is absurd.

I never quoted you to begin with.  Cleary looked better tonight standing in front of the net but he still looks a gear behind Datsyuk on the 2nd line.  Saying he's good on the PP and PK are ridiculous because Tatar is a far better skill player and speedster than Cleary which would work well for both of those.  To be honest I have less of a problem with Cleary being on the 2nd line than I do with Tatar NOT being on it.  This is the perfect opportunity to see what he can do with skill players while all these other guys are injured.  Cuz you know when Bert and Sammy and Franzen are better, seniority will once again win out and Tatar will either be dropped to bottom lines or sent back to GR.  To see Tatar on the 3rd when Cleary (who HAS pretty much sucked up until tonight) and Abdelkader are on the 2nd is painful.  Hell Tatar almost got Huskins a goal with his skill.  As I said before, Pavs line shouldn't spend the majority of their shift digging the puck out of the boards.  And Cleary is far from "responsible" defensively.

Cleary gets a tipped garbage goal on a PP and suddenly he's awesome?  NOT!  Tatar looks like a 2nd liner, Cleary doesn't.  Tatar scored and played well even strength all night.  Cleary had a better than usual game but he gets the majority of his chances because of Dats.  Hell even Franzen can stand in front of the net.

#2358658 Pavel Datsyuk dangles the entire Predators team!

Great new Datsyuk video.  We are so lucky, not just to get to watch this man, but to live in the youtube era so his incredible back-catalogue of highlights will never be lost, and when we tell future generations "yeah, but you never saw Dats play" we can show them stuff like this.

You try losing the most man-games of any team in the NHL, included amongst your injured players three top-six forwards, a PP QB, and the team's best PKer, and then see how easy things go for you.

How can Flippula be a great 2nd line center when his line has a disadvantage on a PP

#2357282 No need to panic

Don't see why people are down on Samuelsson, he's good defensively, and has the same number of points as Cleary in 12 less games. Sammy will be fine if he can stay healthy.

Cleary is a major issue right now, there isn't one positive thing he does for this team on the ice right now.

#2357253 Jonas Gustavsson recalled from GR, Mrazek sent back down

Posted by puckbags on 18 February 2013 - 12:17 PM

I wish I could get excited, but its only gonna be just as bad for Monster.  I believe that M-Raz is better than both Howie and Monster, but if you aren't going to address to crap defense, it doesn't matter who is in goal.  Good news that Monster is healthy, but I have a feeling its not gonna help the Wings....Welcome back Jonas! Pull that seatbelt one more notch and hold on!

What? The kid played one good game and is arguable the future of goaltending for this franchise but he was terrible yesterday..when Jimmy plays bad you blame Jimmy but when Mraz plays bad it's the d in front of him.  I know I know you drink your own blend of cool aid but Mraz belongs back in the minors for now.he will get his shot.

Can you calm down with the blasphemy and profanity? It doesn't make you sound cool.
