Why is Anderson even on this team ? He is not even winning faceoffs now. He is rendered useless in my books.

Injuries played a factor no doubt. However, the problem with this team and if it misses the playoffs will be the 1 million shootouts they had that they lost. If they even won a third of the shootouts they lost they would be in the playoffs right now. Those points were huge and it's showing right now

Nyquist 8:36 TOI through 40 minutes is just pathetic. I mean he only has 20 goals in his last 24 games.

Wake the f*** up Babs.

I have to hand it to Franzen, he had me fooled. I actually believed he had turned his attitude around. Shame on me.

The Bert hate around here is absurd.  First of all, he didn't have a terrible game minus the penalty at the beginning which was incidental and happens a thousand times a week in the NHL.  Secondly, Bert's not an X factor on this team.  He's a washed up injury replacement who wouldn't be playing on a healthy roster.  We neither win nor lose based on Bert's play.  Wanna blame anyone?  Blame Kronwall, Alfie, and Franzen for not showing up in a week (at least).  Oh, and our terrible defense.

Everybody around here always thinks that the reason we're no good some nights is because a third liner or bottom pair defenseman isn't very good...as if other teams don't have those too.  Guess what?  Boston's Shawn Thornton isn't very good and has, almost certainly, taken dumb penalties/got outclassed by more skilled players to the detriment of his team.  Yet they win anyway.  Why?  They don't rely on bottom line players to win them games.

They also don't have 11 AHL players in the lineup. Take away Boston's entire top 6, plus another defensemen and let's see how they do. Easy to say other teams that are healthy top players always perform when the Wings have maybe 6 regular NHL players in the lineup and are easy to shut down because you can just focus all the pressure on them.

As for Bert, I usually am a big supporter of him, but if you watched last night you would see some of the dumb decisions he makes with the puck. Instead of dumping it in when he is on the wing he will almost always try to throw a pass across to the other wing which 99% of the time gets picked off and creates rushes the other way unexpectedly. I noticed him do this at least 6-7 times yesterday. He is not helping this team at all and would much rather Pulk played in his position. Bert tries to force plays sometimes and it is a determent to this teams play.

This season has hopefully taught management one thing i hope, and it's let the kids play and get rid of the old farts.

I usually don't really care about Bert, but get him the f*** off the ice.

#2500359 Gustav Nyquist Appreciation Thread

Posted by darkmanx on 24 March 2014 - 11:06 AM

Second time this year Nyquist is the star of the week.

Nyquist, Lundqvist, Iginla named 'Stars' of week

FIRST STAR – GUSTAV NYQUIST, RW, DETROIT RED WINGS

Nyquist led all players with six goals and tied for the League lead with seven points to help the Red Wings (33-24-14, 80 points) earn seven of a possible eight points and move into the first Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. He opened the week with two goals in a 3-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs March 18. Nyquist followed that up with 1-1—2, including the primary assist on Daniel Alfredsson's last-second overtime winner, in a 5-4 triumph over the Pittsburgh Penguins March 20. He then scored his fifth game-winning goal of the season in a 3 2 victory over the Minnesota Wild March 22 and capped the week with 2-0—2, his fourth multi-goal game of the season, in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Minnesota Wild March 23. The 24-year-old native of Halmstad, Sweden, has 23-17—40 in 46 games this season, including 7-1—8 during a five-game goal/point streak and a League-leading 18 goals in 23 games since Jan. 20.

I love how Gus looked back and saw how much space he had and knew that he could do anything he wanted.

Reminded me of Pasha doing that.
