#2530774 Red Wings Target Mike Green

How do people not see how special this Jurco kid is going to be? He has a much higher ceiling than Tatar and I would possibly even consider trading Nyquist before Jurco. Kid is going to be unreal.

I would take some people's opinions with a grain of salt on here. Some users just a few days ago were talking about trading Datsyuk and Zetterberg, I won't mention any names but I'm sure we know the usual suspects.

Manxy Manxy Manxy....Helm, Kindl and a 1st would bring in more than you think...but you can just keep attacking my post's without mature discussion or thought intriguing responses because you yourself do not know how things work.  You also lol'd and put the little shaking head emoticon up there when I said that Ehrhoff would get around $3.5M to $4M as a UFA because of his buyout, and you just decided to try to discredit my knowledge of hockey and my touch on reality....but wait, what exactly did he sign for?

Do me a favor, do not reply to my posts anymore or just hit the ignore button and don't read what I put up here. Thank you.

And for the record, the response "This isn't NHL xx" is getting about annoying as Holland kicking tires... I don't even play NHL xx...

What are you talking about? Please find me that post.

Also what are you even talking about in your post?

My God....No one is saying trade Pav or Z just for the hell of it.  But Holland has two directions to go, either spend the cap in the next three years and win another Cup with these two guys by acquiring (and outbidding other teams) the key players (via UFA or trade) in order to win now, before Pav retires and Z is a shriveled old man playing the last few years of his contract.

Go full youth and BUILD a core that is going to win 4-6 Cups in the next 20 years.

Unfortunately he is choosing to sit and stay stagnant year after year, lowballing UFA's, refusing to better his team by trading a kid or two or even taking away from his current roster (Helm, Smith, Franzen, et al.) and just barely making the playoffs and letting Pav and Z sit and rot for the remainder of their All Star careers without even remote chance to win the Cup.

My point wasn't that we need to trade them, my point was, if you are not going to trade a kid away (especially after getting burned with Jarnkrok) then instead of letting these guys rot, make a choice, either make those deals or UFA offers to bring a Cup in the next 3 years or make a bold move to trade away one of them and get some REAL youth and core experience in a full rebuild.

I am not suggesting trading them, I am all for keeping them and acquiring the pieces to win a Cup.  But Holland just seems set on not winning within the next 5-7 years along with wasting away your Al-Star players by signing filler scrub players (ie. Gustavsson, Cleary, Quincey, Alfredsson, undrafted projects...) The point was either win now, or build a core and win the next 20 years. You cannot have it both ways, because the useless filler scrubs are taking valuable roster spots away.  If he wants to keep his top players and build a future on the tails of their careers, that is fine, but he cannot be signing scrub fill ins.  He should be bringing the kids up NOW. Even more so than the ones that are here.  But if he wants to win now, he needs to make hard decision deals and trade away some assets and kids to win NOW, before its too late for his stars.

So, the point was, if he is going to waste away the last few years of his stars and not trade away anymore kids, then he could just go FULL rebuild mode and deal away his star(s) and bring in some serious return to get ahead of the rebuild process.

Just a question, and a serious one at that.  If Shea Weber or Evgeni Malkin or Steven Stampkos were on the table and the asking price was Zetterberg, would you scoff at it or give it a serious thought?

I have no issue keeping Z, obviously, but Holland has no intention of making the moves needed to win another Cup while Pav is still here and Z is still a top 10 player, nor is he providing the roster spots to promote his kids to build a core while Pav and Z are still here...he is afraid to go in either direction, so he kicks tires...

You mean like the "shriveled old man" that played on one leg?

Also, be realistic Malkin and Stamkos would never be on the table for Zetterberg. Your talking about two of the top 5 players in the world, that are over 5 years younger then Zetterberg.

My god, this place has gotten so bad that we are talking about trading Z and D now?

Kip, I wasn't saying anything, I was just asking which one could be lived without.  They both have potential to be 20-30 goal getters.  I most definitely trade one of those two before I trade Mantha or Sheahan.  I think Tatar would be the more sought after one by teams and he should garner a larger return.  I also agree that my trade piece scenario is way over payment for Myers.  I think Myers could be had for Helm and a 1st and throw Kindl in there just to make room on the roster.  If one of them had to be traded, Jurco or Tatar...I just don't know which one I would be comfortable in letting go...guess it all depends on the return.

You have no idea how to gauge trade value. That package won't even get Buffalo to answer the phone, this isn't NHL 14.

Yup great logic by the way.

To be fair your argument makes no sense.

You are comparing Quincey signing to Legwand signing and they don't even play the same position, not to mention we don't need anymore centers especially ones that won't be utilized correctly (Babcock putting him on 4th line in the playoffs   )

He's on TSN now.  "I did not entertain other long term deals. Pitts been there right there from the start.  I want to be there. "

He's also getting paid a ton of money after being bought out, he didn't need a 5 year deal right out of the gate.

So what is it then that Holland isnt doing? Thinking to offer that? Or thinking that's a good offer?

Don't bother. This is what I meant by my post in another thread.

It's the Suter situation all over again. He didn't want to play here this year, he wanted to maximize his value but somehow this is Hollands fault.

Don't worry guys, I'm sure Holland kicked the tires on Erhoff. And that's all that counts.

He didn't want to come here obviously, which is why he signed for 1 year on a team that is a contender every year.

The Boyle hate is hilarious. Our blue line generates no offense, can't break out of its zone, can't run an effective power play - but yeah, there's absolutely no reason why we should be interested in Rafalski-esque Dan Boyle. At the very least, he'd give as an actual power play. You know what would've helped our cause against the Bruins? An actual power play. You know what would've helped our cause against the Bruins? Better puck management, a stronger possession game. Boyle would help on those fronts.

Niskanen - he's worth overpaying, because the need is that great, because our blue line is that bad. You may overpay by a couple million, but you're getting what you need, which is a right-shooting power play quarterback in his prime who weighs 200 lbs and isn't afraid to throw his weight around. And with the cap going up every year, there's a good chance that it looks like a great deal in a couple years. We can't be too picky here.

If we don't add a high-end top-four defenseman, we have absolutely no shot at competing for the Cup. None whatsoever. We have Kronwall, two pretty good defensive defensemen, and Brendan Smith (who's 50/50 in re: whether he's going to put it together before he becomes a reclamation project). That's it. We'll be incredibly fortunate if any one of the kids ever becomes as good as Niskanen is now or even as good as Boyle is now. Talk about risk - going with the kids would be the ultimate risk, if money alone could get us a big name who could really help (and that happens to be the case here).

Get Niskanen or Boyle and we'll be a much better team.

I have said many times before, some posters have self entitlement that they think they should get who they request and when they don't they whine about it for weeks. I won't mention any names because I wouldn't want to get another 'warning post' lol.

#2527074 Ehrhoff or Niskanen

Posted by darkmanx on 29 June 2014 - 09:36 PM

we can afford both. Erhoff got bought out, so he can come fairly cheap. $3M maybe. Niskanen $6m maybe. Trade Kindl and give that $2.4M to Diesel. You still got $5m for Sheahan and Tatar. Once you dump Andersson and give Sheahan and Tats about $2.5M together. You have over $3M for Iginla or just hold on to the $3M for space.

Wow.....

#2526836 Wings to have face to face with Matt Niskanen

Posted by darkmanx on 29 June 2014 - 10:07 AM

I've heard from a non quotable source, which is (very) close to Holland, apparently niskanen really wants to come here and we are very high on his list.

Also we won't get yandle, price is all of nyquist, Tatar, jurco and mantha + first.
Holland is probably going to give him 7 years $42 million. Just a heads up.
Niskanen that is

That is a HFboard proposal, not true at all. That package gets you way more then Yandle.

Let's break it down of how much we would be losing. Also note Yandle is not the best defensive player either.

Yandle - 53 points in 81GP

Tatar - 39 points in 72GP
Nyquist - 48 points in 57GP
Jurco - 15 points in 35GP

Mantha - good to elite potential (good a minimum)

1st rounder lol

uhh.. yea, no. I will take an entire line under 25 years old + 2 great prospects over Yandle anyday.

Or the Pens tell you that they want Mantha Sproul and a first if they're keeping him in conference.

Doubt they ask that for him, he's not that good of a player to warrant that.
