Zetterberg Larkin Nyquist
Tatar AA Vanek
Martha Sheahan Abdelkader
Miller Glendening Jurco/rookie

Zetterberg Larkin Nyquist
Tatar Nielsen Vanek
Helm Sheahan Abdelkader
Miller Glendening Ott/Jurco

Group one isn't any worse and might even be better, plus it gives players who will be needed soon to play. Group 2 isn't a contender, it just keeps young players out of the lineup

AA was 41% on faceoffs while Neilsen is 50%

Neilsen takes on tougher matchups which AA can't handle. In group 1, Zetterberg's line would be forced to handle the opposing team toughest matchups and once again by December Zetterberg would decline.

Also our PK would be s*** with group one.

When used, AA should continue on the 3rd line for this year. I don't think he's ready for top 6 quiet yet. His minutes were way too sheltered last year for him to be thrown into top 6.

#2682113 Steve Ott signs 1 year, $800k deal with Detroit

Should I PM you before making a post next time to ask if it's appropriate? Gtfooh.

I'm not going to engage in Bill like arguments. Not worth my time to argue with a troll or a 12 year old.

Nah, there's plenty on HFboards who admit Howe is no Steve Yzerman.

Ok, stop right here.  This explains everything now.

#2682048 Frans Nielson signs 6 year $5.25m AAV contract with Detroit

I know Frans isn't Datsyuk but it will be nice to rely on another top center playing over 80 games this year. Frans has only missed 5 games in the last 5 years which bodes well for us since we always have injured players.

When he gets injured and misses half the season, I'm blaming you.

#2682005 Darren Helm re-signed: 5 years, $3.85m AAV

The irony of Internet Unknown posting that amuses me.

Dude, I disable Javascript on this site because it keeps crapping out in Firefox otherwise. The " " mess isn't something I typed.

But good call coming down on me and not the clown that can't find the period button.

Are you and the other guy really this obtuse? It's not about Mantha's feelings, it is about Holland's lack of professionalism and using others as his excuse, not to mention verbally degrading a potential trade asset. Maybe only someone who has real responsibility and graduated beyond paper routes, flipping burgers and mowing lawns would understand.

It's sounds like it IS about feelings the way you put it. "If I was Mantha I'd want a trade". Blah blah blah boo freakin hoo. It sounds like you wanted a Jonathan Drouin 2.0 soap opera with the Red Wings. And what exactly happened with Drouin's situation? Jonathan Drouin looked like an idiot spoiled brat. Mantha clearly handled the situation well and didn't turn the it into a matinee of General Hospital like you were hoping for.

If anything this entire situation makes Mantha look more professional. He handled it well, didn't overreact, and he came back to GR after Devallano's comments and had an excellent season. He even got called up and got to play with Datsyuk and scored some goals and made Grandad proud. And with a second bout of "criticism" from Holland, Mantha again, handled the situation without overreacting like a spoiled child and my guess is he will deter his critics and hopefully win a spot in the line-up 2016/17.

And if he does make the line up. If he does become a top 6 winger in a few years. If he does become the face of one of the most well respected organizations in hockey history.. It will be quite funny to come back and read your overreacting post.

And I'm sorry, the last time I checked, in the real world when people overreact against management and authority, whether it's in the business world, the medical field or in the domain of law, they tend to get their ass lit on fire.

So instead of being closed-minded and thinking of it through the eye of a Holland critic, perhaps you could look at it through Mantha's perspective? He's a first round pick that has a reputation to maintain and he chose the path of professionalism and poise. Good for him.

#2680233 Stamkos to... Tampa

Posted by kickazz on 29 June 2016 - 03:56 PM

It would be ridiculous for Eric Staal to be 31 years old and produce only 39 points and ask for $6 million dollars.

At age 31 our centers were putting up 80 points. Jeez. Hell NO to Staal.

Larkin put up more points than him as a rookie.

I am echoing what others have said already, but I think it needs to be echoed...

I feel like a lot of the 'How did Holland sign this guy?' and 'Where's our change?!?!?' posts really ignore the part of the equation where you have to get someone to agree to come... Stamkos wasn't available.  Okposo didn't want to come here.

I think Nielson will be good, and makes the team better than it was last year. Of course we would all want a shorter term... but this is the reality of the market.

So ken hollad made us basically an older team... f*** holland and his love of veterans

Nielson: 32 younger than Datsyuk: 37

Vanek: 32 younger than Richards: 36

How did we get older? Ott is 33 which isn't even that old and he won't play much. He only played 21 games last year.

Pretty much our lineup will look like this:

Larkin - Z - Abdelkader
Nyquist - Nielsen - Vanek
Helm - She - Tatar
Miller - LG - Ott
AA and Mantha = Grand Rapids

DeKe - Kronwall
Errorson - Green
Smith - Marchenko

I don't think anyone realistically thinks AA won't be on the team. I think Ott will be a GR call up.

Assuming it will look something like this

Zetterberg nielson abdelkader

Athanasiou Larkin vanek

Helm sheahan Tatar/nyquist

Miller glendening ott

Or switch vanek with Tatar/nyquist

Knowing Ken holland and his bulls*** overripe Anthony mantha wil be in Grand Rapids regardless of anything he says to the media unless he's stupid enough to trade him

That will leave

Jurco pulkkinen frk nyquist/Tatar and I'm assuming jurco/frk will be 13th forward

Pulkkinen is gone ... Frk or jurco as well , I just hope none are through waivers and mantha is in Grand Rapids 100% unless he's dealt or Tatar and nyquist are both dealt which seems unlikely

So seems the wings keep on giving nothing to the kids ... Just the way holland loves it

Get a grip. "Over-ripe" is a euphemism for "isn't good enough." Look at Larkin. He played for the Wings as a 19-year-old rookie because he was good enough to do so.

#2681642 Thomas Vanek signs 1 year, $2.6m deal with Detroit

Cannot stand some of the negative nancy downers here. I can see complaining about Kenny when he screws up (like most of you I'd also much rather have Stevie Y as a GM) but some ppl here will find anything to complain about, even when it's a solid deal. Kenny not getting Stammer isn't his fault whatsoever. He was never even on the open market. Some ppl need to GTFO with all the negative sky is falling no matter what mentality...smh.

Honestly, really good signing. He might not be the same player he was in Buffalo. But he has a right handed shot. And a change of scenery could be just what he needs. And my guess is he'll fit in better with out style of offense than Minnesota's. Plus its a dirt cheap, one year deal. Atta boy Kenny.

Holland hasn't done the best job. Miller contract was useless and Helm is overpaid for what he can do (I don't care if he would have gotten more money as a free agent). But I also can't agree with people blaming Holland for not landing some of the players like Lucic, Okposo or Eriksson. It's upto the players whether they want to be here or not. Detroit is not UFA destination it used to be and we have to realize that.

Some people revert into their former high school logic and start blaming Holland for literally every single thing. No one can take you seriously if you can't differentiate between an instance when Holland really IS at fault and when he ISN'T.

So far I'm frowning at Holland for the Helm/Miller deals but giving a slow golf clap for the Vanek deal and a nod for Nielsen with a questioning look about the length of term. We can only truly know if these things pan out once the season is underway.

Vanek at 3.5-4 million on a 1 year, Brouwer at 4.5 for 4 years, McGinn at 3.5 for 4 years... or if those players truly didn't have any interest in the Wings, let Athansiou play real minutes on the third line.  Helm's deal screws the young guys, unless he plays 2C, and that would be him sorely over-valued.

Think he just did better on Vanek than you thought was a good idea. Holland is such an idiot!
