Simmonds looked like he was going to cry. Win this in OT guys, his tears will be delicious.

I would love to see the player Smith could become if we could just remove his shriveled peanut brain...

On another team maybe.  We need to trade him away.  Tired of his mistakes.

Larkin looks realgud.

I agree. Nyquist didn't even look like he was competing on the level Zetterberg was. That was a really good shift by Z.

I can't believe MDZ is eating 20+ minutes a night for the Flyers. Two seasons ago his career was deemed over by a ton of folks.

I hope Pav decides to sign a 1 year when his contract his up.

Guy is a treat to watch and I know 10-20 years from now I'll still consider him my favorite player of all time. Such a unique player and I really wish I didn't take the 2006-2011 seasons for granted. Best player in the NHL for a period of time.

I can't believe I'm about to defend Lucic...ewww. Lucic is a lot of bad things, cheap, whiny, entitled. But he's not a spot picker. He's fought some really tough dudes. He's not afraid to scrap with anyone. Its his nut shots, charges, running over goalies, that makes him deplorable. As well as his generally bitchy attitude about losing.

Anything can happen in the playoffs.  I feel like health and luck are just as important in the post season as actual skill.

That Kronwall was prior to his 7 year contract....you won't see that Kronwall ever again.

Same with Ericsson, he used to hit and fight prior  to his 6 year deal...

...just observations......

Because most of those hits would get him suspended in the NNHHL (National No Hit Hockey League)

I always look at the 120+ games guys like Pav , Nic #5 and Hank lost due to the lockouts and totals they could have had. The biggest loser on that front was Stevie Y who finished his playing career 54 pts behind Gordie, no doubt if he'd have stayed fit he would have surpassed Gordies records.

"But they have 407 consecutive playoffs..."

A little clue for everyone - 16 out of 30 teams make the playoffs in the NHL. The Red Wings spend up to the cap ceiling every year. Finishing 15th every year isn't all that special.

So, about a 50/50 shot?  Try flipping a coin and get back with me when you get 24 heads in a row.  The odds against it are about 1 in 16 million.

I'm not interested in stamkos's 10-11 million cap hit , just not ... You think Steve yzerman is an idiot? If stamkos was so great at center he'd be playing center now and the deal would of been done already

He comes here and it'll seriously mess up our cap with future player contracts .... Larkin is our future number 1 center , and we got athanasiou waiting in the wings +mantha and other kids coming, as well as Tatar nyquist jurco pulkkinen already there

What we need to do is upgrade the back end ... Get a guy who can log 20-25 minutes per game

Every Wings prospect ever will become a star!

All the GM's are busy right now. Ours is picking his ass again. He wont do anything until Feb. 29th, and then he will bring Al MacInnis and Teemu Selanne out of retirement to bump 2 fast, young guys out of our playoff lineup. This Stamkos + Drouin deal is nice to dream about, but a total waste of time. Our GM is a fricking clown.

The Lightning would never trade a guy like Drouin to a division rival.  NEVER.  So you can continue to live in a fantasy land believing Holland is our problem, but expecting him to do the impossible is ludicrous.

Or you can continue to bash Holland for all the success he has brought this team.  Quite frankly, you lost all credibility with me when you said Nyquist was a HUGE mistake that Holland made.  121st overall pick 20 goal scorer...and that is a mistake?!?!  You are either trolling, or you don't have any clue what you are talking about.

Holland has his issues (who doesn't) but calling him a fricking clown, lazy @ss who works three days a year makes you sound like the frickin clown.

No, it's not. We have 3 players that can only play a soft, small euro skill game. It kills us when we play teams built for playoff hockey. It's like freshman against seniors.

You are a troll. Drafting a guy in the fourth round of a draft and having him turn into a 20 goal scorer is great drafting, not a mistake. The large majority of fourth round picks never even see the NHL for a single game. Would you rather have had Holland draft a nobody? Or where there still a lot of high potential power forwards available in the draft when Nyquist was taken?

Just saw the highlights.  LOL at Mike Green on that first goal.  Not the best way to defend the 2 on 1.

Yeah, he just slid a bit too fast. his stick is in good position to take away the pass until the last second then open up the lane. Larkin should have been back covering and the timing would have worked out.

Anyway, the next play in the NHL.com highlights Green does a good job covering a 3-on-1 so he learned from the mistake, took away the passes and let Howie play the shooter.
