I was about to just sit back, eat some popcorn and watch you two fire back and forth about Brendan Smith but I guess I want more answers than crossfire.
He (Smith) sure is puzzling. I can't place him where he's at. 28 years, but "plays 25" (my subjective thought). Skilled, but moronic. Aggressive in a nice way but also with a temper. Has the potential upside to be a league top offensive defenseman, but at 28.. Hm.
What I would like to know is what Mike Babcock has to say about Brendan Smith today, in retrospect. That would clear up some conceptions for me I believe.
too bad Bill B is not around he could've answered that
Group one isn't any worse and might even be better, plus it gives players who will be needed soon to play. Group 2 isn't a contender, it just keeps young players out of the lineup
AA was 41% on faceoffs while Neilsen is 50%
Neilsen takes on tougher matchups which AA can't handle. In group 1, Zetterberg's line would be forced to handle the opposing team toughest matchups and once again by December Zetterberg would decline.
Also our PK would be s*** with group one.
When used, AA should continue on the 3rd line for this year. I don't think he's ready for top 6 quiet yet. His minutes were way too sheltered last year for him to be thrown into top 6.
I know Frans isn't Datsyuk but it will be nice to rely on another top center playing over 80 games this year. Frans has only missed 5 games in the last 5 years which bodes well for us since we always have injured players.
When he gets injured and misses half the season, I'm blaming you.
