I am not assuming anything at this point. Presenting a video where professional athletes have went broke for various reasons, including being taken advantage of, isn't bias. So far, there is no proof of innocence or guilt. Either way, I hope the truth comes out for the sake of the NHL and hockey and Kane is either exonerated or put in jail accordingly.
Sorry I might have misunderstood your original post.
Overall I've been impressed by the way that LGRW and has handled this but the one thing that has bothered me most has been the "why would a successful guy need to rape someone?!" posts. Here's the thing...in all the time I've spent with these kind of guys, the scary ones have been the most successful. They've rarely been told "no" and often see it as an insult. This has been bothering me because if you have been told that your talent means that women will always want you, it can be genuinely confusing to these guys to be told that someone doesn't want you. I don't know if Kane is guilty or what happeed that night but it's not inconceivable to me that he didn't understand WHY a woman would refuse him and therefore didn't accept it. This doesn't condemn the woman OR Kane but just that I believe that consent is a difficult issue (especially for people with status) and this is something that should be addressed with players.
I have a friend that was a baseball prospect that was drafted by an MLB team and I remember him telling me that when he was playing for a Single A or AA affiliate team he would have to attend classes or seminars on how to handle himself in public, and he had another class on teaching athletes about women trying to "accuse of rape" or "sleep around" with them to try and get a payday to help educate them (not saying that's what happened here). But like you said, it's always about them and never about the other person, so they don't really know how to handle the rejection part of it. You are completely right, when you are extremely successful and everyone says Yes to you all the time then hearing the No word doesn't always go over to well.
Wow. This thread is nuts and is exhibit A in the case for him being the most underrated player in the NHL. People talking about Letang, OEL, Pietrangelo in the same category? Lolwut?!?! Watch games, not pts totals.
Seabrook was the main reason they just won the Cup. Keith got all the glory but the Hawks without Seabrook go down in flames, probably swept.
Your obviously trolling. Seabrook is cannot touch top 5 in the NHL.
Hell, have you ever seen the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary "Broke"? Many professional athletes have been targeted by people who want nothing more than to get a piece of their bank. If that is what is happening here with Kane, then he should consider himself lucky if he isn't prosecuted or found not guilty. This woman probably saw a mark and is trying to extort money from him. Heck, just like the 18 year old model who tried to extort a couple hundred grand from Jagr, these cases are not isolated.
He should be very wary now that he signed that insane deal.
Let's wait for the justice system to rule out what happened before we assume she's just after a pay cheque.
Can't be disappointed with this depth. When injuries start happening we'll be happy to have it.
Andersson and Ferraro are ultimately getting waived. No big loss if either are claimed.
Helm can be an asset moving up and down the roster in any spot. Would rather see him on the fourth line with Glenny and Miller.
If Jurco and Pulks are pulling their weight, and unless Franzen is tearing it up, I don't see why it wouldn't be Franzen sitting in the press-box.
Wouldn't be bad to have him rotate in and out as necessary... give him and his noggin a rest every so often.
I love the depth don't get me wrong and we are going to have injuries so I will be relieved that we have good players to fit in. I just don't want to see Jurco / Pulks get down on themselves because they might have to play on the 4th line due to the depth.
Jesusberg, isn't that exactly what he's been showing all camp and preseason so far? He is far from the one trick pony that some suggest. He has been a dominant player at every level he has ever played, and from the small sample size we've seen in the NHL so far, there's no reason to believe that he won't, at the very least, be a very productive player for the Wings.
As far as starting lines go. I'd be shocked if he's not in on opening night, especially if he continues to produce the way he has so far in preseason. Datsyuk is obviously out, I'm thinking Helm will start the season on IR, and hoping no one else gets injured, this is what I see on opening night...
Give it a rest 9. There's no possible way you actually believe that. You don't think Pulkkinen can hack it at the NHL level? "*eye roll*"
That lineup is deep, the thing that scares me is what happens when Datsyuk comes back. I just hope Jurco or Pulks aren't on the 4th line but I don't see how they aren't. Kind of disappointing with all the depth.
Franzen looked ok, typical of a guy who was out for 9 months and was just trying to survive the night. Didn't hear his name too much other than talking about his injury. Guess it was a good thing. We'll see what he says about the day after his first game.
Manxy, there was nothing negative about what I said. Did I say we are STUCK with him? No, if all you want to do is attack, please ignore and move along.
Wasn't an attack, just pointing out the obvious trend in your posts. I guess that means Red Wings hockey is back.
I really don't care anymore. And am getting tired of seeing it in every single thread. Everyone is trying to move past it all and enjoy the fact that hockey is back but the ones who complain the most are the ones that bring it up the most now.
