We 100% need Stamkos now. Toronto and Buffalo got a lot better tonight.

At first I saw Datsyuk for the 16th, I was happy enough with that...but damn, how the hell did they give us the 20th and +??? Hahahah

Young GM just got schooled by Kenny.

Hearing rumors Datsyuk coming out of retirement to play for Arizona Coyotes.

Then after the season the Coyotes retire his jersey.

Excellent deal. I thought he was losing the 1st round pick entirely, but he only traded down to 20th.

Love the deal. Can't see how anyone would hate it. This will be a LeftWinger approval.

If Holland does not trade Pav and Howard, he should be fired.

lol you say this in every thread.

Do people really think Stamkos is the 3rd best player in the league? I still think Crosby, Ovi, Malkin, Seguin, Benn, Kane are all better then him.

By the magical power of words.

And fallacies.

Or picking notes out of a bowl. Lol I had a good laugh imaging someone pulling random notes out of bowl and reading them.

Larkin: looks like a gem, but faded as the season progressed. Still best of the bunch.

AA: Helm with hands. Does that make him Kris Draper then?

Mantha: stock has plummeted since being drafted and playing with actual adults.

Mrazek: inconsistent though young and has shown flashes of brilliance.

Defensive prospects: all projected to be middle to bottom pairing guys.

Nyquist and Tatar: Soft, small complimentary scorers.

Yes, Toronto having the first overall pick and a bevy of high picks for the next couple of years is more enticing than the Wings' prospects and average young players.

That doesn't amount to anything. Edmonton says hi.

Also, not to be rude but you explained our prospects in your opinion, not actual facts or projections. We have no idea where these players development will be in a couple years.

But the thing is that by the time our young players are due for big raises, most of our contracts (except Zetterberg, Abdelkader and Ericsson) will be finished. So as old contracts are up, new ones will begin. Take a look at 2017-18 season for instance, the project money spent is $45 million only. 2018/19 season we'll have $34 million towards contracts.

I think we're in a better position than Chicago is. Our turnover is much more smooth. I think by the time Larkin, Mantha and AA start making big money we'll have plenty of cap space opening up. Chicago is screwed because they threw out big contracts to Kane, Toews, Hossa, Keith while guys like Panarin, Shaw are almost immediately eligible to get new contracts. Their turnover sucks.

As far as Stamkos, I think $10 million is the highest I would feel comfortable with. I think $9 million won't be enough in this market. There's no way he'd get paid less than Anze Kopitar (who is less than a 30 goal scorer) but more of a 2 way forward.

I miss capgeek :(

I don't know where to go to look for the salaries anymore

If Stamkos wants 11+ million are people still ok with that? I know I'm not, he's not the same player he was before his leg injury and won't be a 50 goal scorer again. I look at the Toews and Kane contracts and what that is going to do to that team and want nothing to do with that. Our younger guys will need raises and might become very good players looking for 6-7 million dollar deals which could hinder us signing our young guys in 2-3 years.

Only way I want Stamkos is if he is willing to sign at 9 million. We need defense more then anything right now, year after year it's the same issue.

He could be saying that to get the asking price down from teams.

Kessel and Schultz living the dream right now. They get traded from two of the worst teams, and are in the Stanley Cup Final and probably are going to get a ring. Kessel will get the last laugh for all the Leaf fans, especially if he wins the Conn Smythe lol.

I'm assuming that comment was directed at me saying we shouldn't trade Jurco? I've always said that Jurco is going to be a very good middle 6 winger, with top 6 potential, same for Jarnkrok and Janmark. A player doesn't need to be a "superstar" to not want to trade him. To trade a player with Jurco's potential as a throw-in just to get rid of Datsyuk's contract with one year remaining on it would be poor management in my opinion.

I'd hate to lose Jurco in any trade right now just because I feel his value is at an all-time low right now. However if he was part of the package that brought in a top pairing defenseman, I'd be fine with that, but not just to trade Datsyuk's contract...

Nope it wasn't directed at you.

Maybe we can somehow trade his contract for the superstars Jarnkrok and Janmark.
