#2682388 DeKeyser files for arbitration...

Posted by amato on 06 July 2016 - 11:02 AM

Can't anymore because he filed for arbitration and if it gets to the hearing he will only get a one year deal. That's why I said DK is playing it smart.

But yea hopefully before it even gets there (august i think?) he ends up signing a contract.

Most players have different hearing dates; sometime between July 20th and August 4th. They have not been determined yet.

I don't think Dekeyser wants to leave, but who knows. I think he just wants negotiations sped up or maybe wants a short term deal so he'll get paid next season.

Would probly be fine with a 5x5 deal.. I don't think he's hit his prime yet. I just hope we get him a top 2 caliber long term d partner to grow into his prime with.

Mantha was very hyped upon being drafted, and for good reason. Very few are as high on him as they once were.. I'm just hoping he's having a good off season of work and comes to camp determined to make the roster. He certainly has the tools to be a difference maker at the NHL level, he's just gotta want it.

Little Bert has been one of the more exciting Griffins to watch over the past year. I still think he'll have another year down there though. Maybe be a bottom 6 injury call up this year.

2 years or less are safe, yeah. And I feel like the NMC doesn't really matter.. They'd protect him either way. He probably just wanted assurance that he'd be protected where ever he went.

Yeah if we signed any free agent d man this year, it would feel like a plug.. A long term plug too. Kind of like Ericsson :P

Trade route is the way to go but it takes two GMs.. Hopefully we can make something work sooner rather than later.

#2681850 Steve Ott signs 1 year, $800k deal with Detroit

His grit means nothing, tbh. We're the only hockey franchise that can win 4 titles in a decade being last in the league in fights and PM's and still think tough guys have any place in the NHL.

The wings haven't won a cup without Darren McCarty since 1955 :P

They need helms hands to sharpen skates between periods

Negatives:1. After dumping Datsyuk's contract, the Wings didn't get a chance to sign Stamkos.2. Too many forwards, not enough D.Positives:1. Signed a 2C for less term/money than his former team offered him.2. Signed Vanek on a 1-year "show me" contract.3. Signed Ott who admitted it has been a lifelong dream to play for the Wings. That about wraps up today.

I would add that a positive is that we have plenty of extra pieces to use for a trade

But otherwise sounds about good.

"To be honest with you Ive waited for this moment ever since I was drafted," Ott said. "Ive always wanted to be a Detroit Red Wing. Its my childhood team that I always grew up admiring with the teams and runs that they had with Steve Yzerman and the rest leading the way. It has always been a dream to wear the winged wheel and now that this has all come together this is the most exciting contract I have ever signed."

He doesn't need to mention wanting a trade right now.  He is definitely looking into it as he has 8 defensemen, 15 forwards right now.  Those are the players who cannot be sent down, so he currently has 2 extra forwards and 1 extra d-man.  Something has to give there.

Oh I agree.. That's what I meant by "trying to play it calm." Lots of time until the season starts..

Khan: "#RedWings Ken Holland said roster pretty much set for start of season. A little under cap after factoring in what RFAs will cost."

Maybe just trying to play calm, obviously there's time, but doesn't look like that D trade is coming anytime soon.. Hopefully that'll bring the price down

Ew. Not a fan of Ott but he does bring us some physicality. There has to be a trade coming right???

Who the hell is Matt Lorito? He is showing on our roster at capfriendly.com.

25 year old winger, used to be Brown U's captain, played in Albany in the AHL last year putting up 54 points in 71 games his first full year in the league. Basically a low risk prospect signing

Low risk, hopefully high reward and we have the space. Hope he finds his scoring touch again

I'm in the same boat. Seems like he'll be a good fit. And the limited no trade after two years makes that contract movable if he starts to decline or if Larkin and AA surpass the hell out of him at center.

And maybe we'll win shootouts now!!

Agreed. He can be moved away or even just down the lineup and used on the PK/PP some still if he gets passed up by two other centers.
