#2631929 Is Dylan Larkin a lock to stay in the NHL beyond 9-games?

Posted by amato on 19 October 2015 - 04:35 PM

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think sending him to grand rapids would save a year of his ELC..? I'm pretty sure that's only if a player goes back to junior within nine games or whatever. Could be wrong but either way, I think Larkin is here to stay.

I just like ovi because he always seems to have a smile on his face. You can tell he just loves playing hockey.

i did say "closer" (mostly just based on how many guys will be pushing for spots in the next couple years)....

and I meant closer to make it or break it for the wings.. not the NHL. but, point taken. solid assessment of where he's at.

here's to hoping he takes the chance and runs with it.

#2628613 Janmark nylen makes the Dallas roster

Jurco and Janmark aren't even close to the same level prospect. Like the deal or not, it was what the wings needed as some have already pointed out. Best of luck to Janmark. Glad he's at least on another team I like.

wasn't sure where to put this  /didn't think it deserved its own thread but Janmark has made the dallas roster. congrats kid!

“It’s a great story,” Dallas GM Jim Nill said, per the Morning News. “We really only planned to have him here for maybe two preseason games and then send him back. But he just kept being one of the best players out there, and he changed our minds.

“It’s a great example of what you can do if you just play hard.”

Nill acquired Janmark, 22, from Detroit at last year’s deadline as part of the Erik Cole trade. Nill was familiar with the Swedish forward from his time with the Wings — he was part of the front office team that drafted Janmark in ’13 — but didn’t think the deal would pay such immediate dividends.

#2627861 Goalie Battle

Read somewhere that we have something like four back to back nights of games in October and two in November.. that should give both goalies plenty of an opportunity to pull ahead for the starting job early in the season. And if both shine, even better! This is a great "problem" to have :P

Bertuzzi - Athanasiou - Mantha ... B-A-M!! :P

Would like to see if this line could do anything against one of the penguins real lines.

I'd say december. He's gonna need a few months to get his motor up. The older the longer. But good news to hear he's on schedule.

pretty sure the November estimate was factoring in overall conditioning time

#2627071 If Larkin forces his way to the team , what will we look like?

Or bring him up for the playoffs if the griffs are out of it.

Right! The D in DyLark stands for "Dark horse."

If Larkin comes to the NHL this early what will we look like?

Well pretty s**** in the future I'll tell you that. Larkin needs to develop more in grand rapids, it's for his own good and ours.

I hated how Jurco was brought in and his talents were wasted with linemates he shouldn't have been with. It was a serious detriment to his development and his confidence.

IMO the only way he makes the line up is if 5 of our 8 potential NHL ready centers went down with injury. I don't wish that bad of a fortune on the Detroit Red Wings!

I mean don't get me wrong, I'd love to see him playing with us.. but I'm making a case for "the greater good" here.

This 100%. I'd much rather see larkin play top six minutes in GR and potentially dominate than play bottom six minutes in Detroit.

They'll watch him carefully all year long of course and, depending on how he develops, there could be strong consideration to bring him up next season.

I would like to see what a franzen-sheahan-pulk line could do. That's a third line chalk full of potential.

Jagr would get both.

Please get off the high horses and stop acting like Wings fans wouldn't be doing the exact same thing.

And I for one would be equally disgusted, maybe even more.

the passing looks pretty solid all around. Larkin and Svech stick out for sure. And whoever that second blackhawk fighter was got man handled :P
