First of all, I can see why the NHL called a penalty on Thornton. He hit Perron in the head. However, it was not east-west or a blind side hit. Perron should have had his head up, but Thornton (along with every other player in the league) needs to get better at targeting the shoulder and not the head.
Secondly, why are hockey players turning into such *******? I mean every hit I see on replay now they all just lay on the ice looking like they got hit by a truck.
yea his level of play hasn't been impressing me at all. i shutter at the thought of him being called "nick jr". he doesn't play anywhere near the same level as lidstrom. all i got to say is that our defense is going to be in a world of hurt when lidstrom hangs em up.
I think the refs got the call right. Brown definately made contact with Mietinen's head, but Mietinen also could see it coming. I don't think that is suspension worthy especially since he didn't get hurt. I really hope he doesn't get a suspension though because he is on my fantasy team
The biggest thing that everyone needs to realize is that Selanne is frustrated that his team is the most penalized team in the league, even though it's their own fault for acting like idiots. He is trying to vent because you can definately tell he is not happy with the way his team is playing the game.
About the hit, I can see why he thinks he got elbowed. Kronwall followed through with his elbow even though initial point of contact was using his shoulder. Kronwall needs to change the style of how he hits because in the future he is going to get major suspensions and fines hitting like that. He needs to learn to stay on his feet (before, during, and after hit) and to keep his arms down so it doesn't even look questionable of being an elbow.
