#2438000 Cleary re-signs with Detroit, 1 year, $1.75m deal

Posted by rrasco on 20 September 2013 - 05:55 PM

He's getting paid a 3rd line salary and IMO he's a below average 2nd liner, so I can't complain about that. If we didn't have roster issues this would be a great signing.

This is pretty much how I feel minus the great part.  It would be a non-issue for me at that price if we didn't have a roster limit issue.  Gus doesn't deserve to be in GR.

Well there are these little tidbits:

George Sipple @GeorgeSipple 38m

Holland said Sergei Fedorov is interested in playing in alumni game. It will depend on his his GM responsibilities in the KHL.

George Sipple @GeorgeSipple 40m

Ken Holland said he hasn't officially asked Steve Yzerman to be part of alumni game yet, but will.

Looks like the roster cap is sorting itself out.

Ansar Khan @AnsarKhanMLive 40m

Ken Holland said Patrick Eaves is out 2-4 weeks with sprained left MCL and sprained ankle.

EDIT: Botched the title, meant to put 2-4 weeks.

LMFAO.  That's HILARIOUS!

At first he was like I'll take off my helmet, then he was like, wait I can't do that....umm, would you mind?

The worst kept secret since the 2013 Winter Classic "announcement."  Fans knew months before the official announcement it was going to be Detroit/Toronto.  They act like it's the Red Wedding when in reality it's more like WikiLeaks.

Still, yay for The Perfect Human!

ZOMG!  I just watched that episode last night.  *still in shock*

Fraser is a punk.  The ref watched that Fraser drag Kindl into that 'fight'.

If the Detroit Red Wings didn't want people to fight or chirp in camp, I'm willing to bet they would let the youngsters know.  It's part of the game and so are peculiar injuries.  "Oh well."

From reading here and on other sites, the Wings game last night was not available to all GCL subscribers.

Some people were able to watch it.

Getting completely outplayed and Tatar bangs one in

How fitting.  I wonder if Babs just 'likes him' still.

I'm sure they would all love Yzerman back on the team too.  Does it make sense though?

#2436344 Torts on Twitter: "most narcissistic thing I have ever seen"

Posted by rrasco on 12 September 2013 - 06:46 PM

I just use it to get news on days like this.  People 'report' tweets on forums, etc, but there is a lot that goes unseen.  WIIM is always good for a laugh.

And you wouldn't see cool stuff like this:

I thought these comments were pretty funny from Torts:

Brad Ziemer @BradZiemer 39m

Tortorella says he doesn't want his players on Twitter. Hates it #Canucks

Brad Ziemer @BradZiemer 25m

Tortorella: "I think it's the most narcissistic thing I have ever seen, Twitter" #Canucks

Brad Ziemer @BradZiemer 21m

More Torts on Twitter: "I am not going to handcuff them and treat them like little kids. . . #Canucks

Brad Ziemer @BradZiemer 19m

More Torts: "There better be no info come out of the locker-room with that damn Twitter." #Canucks

#2436016 Report: Cleary to sign with PHI, 3 yrs, $2.75m/yr, NTC

I'm happy if anything just to see the ungrateful Wings fans here implode.  Welcome back Danny Boy!

You're oddly insane.

#2435800 NHL 14

Posted by rrasco on 11 September 2013 - 09:22 AM

I didn't realize it was coming out yesterday, but I picked it up on the way home from work for 360.  I think this version has a lot of physics improvements and the skating has really improved since last year.  NHL 13 everyone skated like Dan Cleary, it was annoying and almost too realistic in that regard.

When I started the game up it went through the normal settings: whats your favorite team, etc.  However, it also had different 'modes' I guess you could call them.  The options were High Impact, Simulation, and Hardcore Simulation.  If I understand these correctly, they alter the way the game is played.  High Impact focuses more on hits and arcade style games while sim and hardcore sim make it more like a simulator and realistic.  I chose hardcore sim.

I actually really like the way this version of the game so far.  I've only been buying them consistently for the last 6 years or so, and they usually add a thing or two: board battles, improved faceoffs, etc.  This year the game seems more refined than any of the previous I have played.

One thing to keep in mind, it actually makes more sense to develop a core engine and add to that every year fixing 'glitches' (which half of the time are high probability shots) so that way you are constantly improving on that engine.  If they start from the ground up, it will take 5-6 years for the game to be as refined as it is today.  No matter how you slice it, starting over is starting over.  It's like buying a first year car, it's bounds to have some quirks.
