#2298738 Mike babcock taking questions on live stream

Posted by evilzyme on 02 May 2012 - 02:28 PM

they were just saying hes back and forth for the world championships. whether or not hell make the team.

I like that pressure from him. NHL'ers need to be in the olympics. amateur or not, the best in the world need to be showcased.

If Ovi was on my team and we were still in the playoffs, and I heard that he "was going to the worlds no matter what" I would demand him take off that C. Let's worry whats at hand, especially as a captain he isn't setting the pace or notion with remarks like that. I know he's getting less ice time because he's a huge defensive liability but still.... you're in the playoffs and a captain none the less. And thanks for the clear up on Kindl. Appreciate it bud!

#2291746 Nyquist getting some attention

Posted by evilzyme on 17 April 2012 - 10:33 PM

Apparently he's not getting noticed by Babcock judging by his 6 minutes of ice time tonight!
Good god...

One of the biggest complaints I have currrently. The only thing I could see from Babcock is that he doesn't see Nyquist making anything of himself due to size on the top 6, so he throws him on the bottom six. He hopes that nyquist can magically develop the 4th line into some magical line that will produce, except for that they can barely play the transition game and get it through the neutral zone fast enough. If you want to implement Nyquist's skillset you need to give him a legitimate line pairing. Then, he will expose his skillset you want out of him.

I'm effy with the hit quite honestly. I kept trying to view the play over and over. You can see Torres doesn't take any extra strides into the hit, but he certainly looks like he leaves his feet. The explosion extension of his elbow doesn't come until after the initial contact is made. So, what can I see out of this? Well, most likely a game because he left on a stretcher. If anything, I really think its a freak incident that resulted into a horrible result.

**EDIT** Now, let it be known.... I don't like Raffi Torres, I certainly don't condone his play and I think he's a frickin ******* on the ice. But, I also will judge this as it is.

#2291686 Time to start looking for a new coaching staff

Posted by evilzyme on 17 April 2012 - 10:18 PM

Seriously, what is wrong with you guys? If anything, Babcock has been sitting here asking for a more physical speedy team, but Holland won't deliver. So now you want Babcock gone? Posted Image Man, you guys need to calm down after losses.

Wings need to shell Rinne again, bury the easy chances unlike on Sunday, keep the crease crowded, and actually play physical, kronner needs a series changing hit NOW.

Well, i'm not sure I liked the way they played the crease on Sunday honestly. Sometimes it seemed like they didn't know who was due infront of Rinne, so we would have two players trying to screen the same guy which lead to rebounds happening but noone close enough to actually pot it. I like crashing the net, I like pressure, but I don't like seeing cluttering which leads to missed opportunities when you can't let them be missed. What I do want, is to see some chase to the puck, some battling, some space being created. We like to pass and make the perfect play, and with a goalie like Rinne you need to throw pucks at the net and low hoping for juicy rebounds. We need powerful guys that won't be manhandled in the crease, otherwise you're worthless playing there.

#2288932 Retribution for clean hits...

Posted by evilzyme on 16 April 2012 - 12:25 PM

That is frustration right there! The whiny Vancouver ******* are getting the asses handed to them in a big way in all aspects of this series and that's how they decide to take it out. A hard clean hit should only be answered by a hard clean hit not by being jumped or forced into a fight.

Well thats one of Vancouver's problems in this season. They tried to attempt to be something they aren't, inwhich that being a hard hitting team. They tried matching the physicality of LA and they just end up getting penalties called because they're trying to match hit for hit. It's not their style, and won't be their style. A hard clean hit SHOULD be answered with a clean hard hit, or go score and pay redemption that way. I just can't stand this mindframe of, "YOU LAID A CHECK IN HOCKEY? K, WE'RE GOING TO FIGHT NOW."

#2288726 Retribution for clean hits...

Posted by evilzyme on 16 April 2012 - 08:22 AM

The rough stuff after a clean hit is fine...and often necessary.

You have to let the other team know know that if they do that stuff, they are going to have to answer for it.
Clean hit or not, you don't want the other team thinking they can dish out hard hits all game long without repercussion...so next time, maybe they think twice about dishing out a hard hit.

It's all about team toughness and sticking up for your teammates.

Yeah there's a line to be crossed with it. In essence, you're wording it like people need to fight after every big hit and it shouldn't be the case. Welcome to hockey, you should probably know when a big hit is coming due to the fact that it normally falls upon YOU as the reason why it happened. Rookie mistakes happen and normally lead into big powerful hits because at this level people know when they can exploit your mistake. Thinking that every time someone pays for their mistake a teammate has to stick up for them is beyond the wrong mindframe to be at with hockey. If anything, you should be answering your own bell because it was your damn fault. Now if you see your teammate just getting ran over for no good reason, yeah sticking up for your buddy is fine. But we need to get this "you just hit me, LETS FIGHT" mindframe out of this new generation of hockey lovers. Trust me, the sport did good things without all this bulls***.
