#2471056 If we become sellers...

Posted by HelmFan on 06 January 2014 - 02:05 PM

The return should be similar to the Jaromir Jagr to Boston trade.

Dallas got a 2nd rounder and two prospects.

Boston got a 41 year old with 26 points in 34 games.

For the record, I don think it will happen. It could, though, if Alfie asks for it.

Franzen's the only one too lazy not to put on a tie, do up his collar.

#2434600 Franzen: "I am not a goal scorer"

Posted by HelmFan on 01 September 2013 - 01:59 PM

Maybe Franzen was misunderstood, and he was trying to say he does more than just score goals (hence, he doesn't see himself as one-dimensional).

Then he needs to watch some game tape.

#2434577 Franzen: "I am not a goal scorer"

Posted by HelmFan on 01 September 2013 - 11:09 AM

WTF!! if you're not a goal scorer, then what are you?

he's not a skater, he's not a checker, he's not a grinder, he's not a set-up man, he's not a net front man.

Now he's telling us that he's not going to score goals. He's a big lazy ***** who got his payday. that's it.

What a waste.  I can't imagine he will be in the top 6 much longer.  It won't be long before Nyquist or Tatar takes his spot.

and you know what? Franzen won't care. He'll be happy that he gets less ice time.

lazy, lazy, lazy.  So much potential. such a frustrating waste.

/end rant

#2434540 Any new Helm Updates?

might not be the "heart and soul" but he's definitely the MVP of the bottom 6.  He carries them like Datsyuk carries the top 6.

#2434535 New enemies, whom do you fear the most?

Posted by HelmFan on 31 August 2013 - 02:28 PM

The East should be crapping their pants.  We were one goal away from the eliminating the Stanley cup champs.

Now we're adding Alfie, Weiss, Helm, Dekeyser, Bertuzzi, Samuelsson and a more seasoned Nyquist, Tatar,Anderson and Smith.

older? yes. but the lack of travel will take a few years off of the Vets and they will all look rejuvenated because of it.

This will be the year we turn our power play around; it will be our enforcer again. (it won't be as great as 2008, but it'll be a heck of lot better than the last few years)

BOLD PREDICTION: within a few years the East teams will start adapting to us, and people will be wondering why the whole league is now playing a "west conference" style game.

#2427581 Wings sign forward Luke Glendening to 1-year, 2-way

Posted by HelmFan on 05 July 2013 - 05:25 PM

Nice to see hard work & determination get rewarded.  Would it be wrong to suggest that's a lesson some players on the big club might need a reminder of?

I doubt that Franzen is reading the forum today.

I'd like to point out the obvious fact that the Pens only won one more game then the Wings did this postseason.

#2368116 Babs: " ....the players decide who plays, not me...."

total BS.  see Abdelkader

or better yet, see Franzen.  He decided to play in the playoffs 4 years ago. that seems to have earned him quite a lengthy leash.

it's way too early to tell if Brunner is worth big money. He's only played 19 games. We don't even know if he has the gas to play a full 82 game season plus playoffs. (the Swiss play only around 50, less physical games)

It's Kenny's best interested to get him signed now, before he proves that he can score at this pace for 80 games for more than a season or two.

If he continues to prove himself, YIKES, is he in for a big payday.

What happens is Dats gets the benefit of the doubt because he actually plays pucks with his skate like that on purpose.  Like in this case, he receives the pass at his feet either before or at the blue line, and the refs who are so accustomed to him using his feet gave him "possession" even though he technically skates ahead of the puck across the line.  He maintained possession and no one was checking him for the refs to say he didn't have it.  If that had been Tootoo it would've probably been called offsides.

esteef

I think it's pretty safe to assume that if the puck is within 8' of Pavel, then he has control of it. Doesn't matter who has the puck.

ESPN surely knows their hockey!

Garth Snow should have read the fine print. He traded for Tm Thomas, the TD Bank Garden's quiet, but friendly janitor.

#2347781 Helm: "Minor Setback", still out indefinitely, *merged*

Posted by HelmFan on 27 January 2013 - 09:12 PM

Insert the standard "small fast forward problem" here. I like Helm, but guys can't help if they are always in the training room. Due to his size and style of play, he might be a guy that misses 30% of the games every year. Misses or is playing hurt....

Stats show this isn't true:  last 4 years played.  75 out of 82

                                                                           82 out of 82

                                                                           68 out of 82

                                                                              1out of 5

add them up and you get 226 games played out of 251. so he's missed 10% of the games the last 3 years and 5 games.

For comparison: Datysuk 18%, Zetterberg 6%, Filppula 17%,Franzen 28%,Cleary 17%, Bertuzzi 7%

I think this year, he got caught out of shape and thinking there wouldn't be a season and hurt his back trying to hard to get back in the swing of things.  It didn't have anything to do with him being an undersize grinder.

If this happens, I'm going to throw my name into the free agent pool. Maybe I'll get signed during the intial mass chaos.
