This is par for the course for Abdelkader, he is infamous for taking boneheaded penalties that cost the Red Wings games and series.

LA and Boston had a much better top 6 in their Cups than our top 6 this season. And their bottom lines were grittier and harder to play against in a playoff series, than our bottom six forwards this year.
There's nothing about this lineup that screams success and long playoff run. You either have a team built on great talent, which we don't have much of anymore, or a team built on hot goaltending and grit/determination, which we don't have either.
This team has no identity.
I find your lack of faith disturbing

#2309301 So What's Up With Abby & Quincey?

Abby is one of the few physical forwards the Wings have. The team without him would be incredibly soft.
I believe Khan said the Wings would talk to both at the draft. Therefore, I think it's too early to speculate on either player.
Except he loves to take dumb penalties and his defensive game is still pretty rough.

I hate to burst your self-righteous bubble, but there's no personal attack in here. It is, however, oozing sarcasm, which last I checked wasn't against forum guidelines. This post is classless and not nearly as intelligent as you had hoped. Normally, I wouldn't care, but Mods shouldn't be taking personal attacks against other posters.
And big deal, he would prefer Weber over Suter. So would I. Can you ask Ken Holland to send me a sarcastic letter?
I do agree that if the Wings sign Suter, that makes the thought of Weber being a Wing even more distasteful to the Preds, if that's at all possible. They will break the bank to keep him, not having learned from Columbus' mistake.

Dear MrBest7,
Thank you so much for your incredibly thoughtful and insightful message. In all my years of being the Wings' GM I've never once not made the focal point of my team its defense. I've always over-invested in goaltending and offense first, because so many other teams have won the amount of Cups the Wings have solely based on that recipe.
Now this off-season one of the greatest defenseman of all time has retired and we inevitably lost another of our top 4. On top of that, I've got $20+ million to spend, and you figured this was the moment in time I would pick to stop putting every single effort into our defense first??? Due to your message, I'm now awake. I won't try to sign every single offensive UFA first. Thank you for stopping me from making the biggest mistake of my career. I couldn't have done it without you.
Yours Truly,
Ken Holland

Winnipeg Jets co-owner and governor Mark Chipman dropped a bombshell at a press conference today, announcing the Jets will not be a revenue-sharing team for 2011-12.
The assumption far and wide -- including by the team until very recently -- was that the Jets, playing in the NHL's smallest building and in its smallest market, would need to participate in the league's welfare system to make a go of it.
True North Sports and Entertainment won’t know for absolute certain until the league’s revenues and finances are audited after the playoffs are over, but Chipman’s actual point was that revenues for the NHL’s first season back in Winnipeg have exceeded expectations to the point the Jets could well be in the league’s top 15 of revenue.

#2302580 What's the point of the crease?
Posted by GMRwings1983
on 22 May 2012 - 09:54 AM
i would be more then lost without my crease. taking a crease away would almost be like taking the goalies stick away. as you move as a goalie your crease is kind of like your map where you always have a sense as to where you are relative to the net, by where your crease is under you. you would have to take it out in youth hockey and wait to enforce it in the nhl once all the old timers who were accustomed to the crease are gone. to just take howards crease away tomorrow would throw his entire game off, i promise.
Then the league should take the crease away in order to increase goal scoring.
It'll offset all that giant equipment goalies wear nowadays. Seems only fair since goalies are better trained now than they've ever been in the past. They have all the advantages right now.

That's alright, it's definitely not the Predators year (nor will it be in a long time)
red wing fans must love rubbing it in preds fans faces, how great the detroit red wings are,how many cups they have won,how post-seasons they have appeared in,and how many future hall of famers they have

#2280598 Dan Cleary openly admits to being at 50%
Posted by GMRwings1983

Some guys can play at 50% and still help the team. As we've seen all season, Cleary at 50% is not helping the team at all. In fact, he's hurting the team and is rather easy to play against right now.
He needs to sit.
