Regardless of whether that was a deflection Emmerton and Eaves played that very well. Making it as difficult for Raycroft to see the puck as possible. And obviously can't forget Miller digging it out on the side and getting it to White... all in all, a pure effort goal.
An amazing number for sure. An interesting fact I read somewhere about this is that Nick will be the third ever player to play over 1500 games and only play for one team in his entire career, and the other two have also been Wings (Delvecchio and Yzerman). Ray Bourque is the only player to have played over 1500 games for a single franchise that isn't the Red Wings, with Howe also joining into that 4 (now 5 with Nick) player group. Pretty impressive in my opinion, and really just says something about this organisation and the respect it has always shown to those who served it well.
Lahti is a picture-perfect example of a player who does well in the FEL but wouldn't be anything in the NHL if you ask me. Relies too much on skill, which is enough playing in a bigger rink with way less skilled players against him but put him in the NHL and suddenly he has no room and even the opposing grind liners can reach the same skill levels, with better speed and strength in many cases.
Unless they want him in GR I don't see any point in bringing him over. Would love to be proven wrong of course, the more finns the merrier.
The guy is like a lightning rod for bad luck and would probably break his collarbone getting off the plane from Van. I like him but I have no interest in us signing him.
