That failed challenge is looming large. No timeout for his icing.

Not hard to blow a lead in the 3rd when you're consistently only ahead by one fricking goal.
SCORE PLEASE

This. So much this. You need to give your goalie some breathing room. If you only score one you are asking him to pitch a shutout every game. No goalie is going to do that.

Quincey to the box. Time for the PK to step up. A shorthander would be nice

Ray Ferraro just defended the good goal call.

In other action tonight, Montreal is down 4-2 with 6 minutes left in the third and Florida lost to Tampa Bay.

I see where you are coming from GMR. Gudas was riding Helm into him, it was pretty clear Helm was trying to avoid but couldn't. I could have seen why they would have made the call, but I would also be pissed if that call went against the Wings were the situation reversed.

Great play by Smith to break up that potential 3 on 1.

Flyers coaches challenge.

Replay on NBCSN says no contact, Helm was nowhere near the paint. Helm bumped the glove but he wasn't in the paint and Helm was trying to avoid him, the Dman was pushing him into Neuvirth.

Call is good goal. I'm pleased with this, but a bit surprised. Gudas was preventing Helm from avoiding him. Karma came back to bite him.

I can't believe MDZ is eating 20+ minutes a night for the Flyers. Two seasons ago his career was deemed over by a ton of folks.

Must be that date he had with Lisa Ann invigorated him.

well we could sign Looch in the offseason... [emoji15]

Too bad we can't bring out a clone of Probert in his prime.

NBCSN just said the Wings PK is 14% worse without Miller. That is a huge swing. That is why Babcock and Blashill both played him regularly.

I was born at the end of 71, so I was pretty young when it happened, but I remember it very clearly.

As far as the importantance of Drew, I think in many ways that the meat and potatoes guys, the PKers, grinders, third pair D often get overlooked since the eyes are drawn to the superstars and flashier players or goalies.

The number of man games stat is an interesting one, but are all man-games lost created equal? Losing a Datsyuk or Zetterberg to injury is much more of an impact to a team than if it was a seventh defenseman or spare forward on the IR.

Yotes going for 5 in a row, lets stop someone else's streak for a change

Give the Coyotes a streak in their hockey shorts when they realize the Wings have a mad on and light them up for 6+ goals. :)

I will second the first career hat trick for Larkin, today is as good as any. Goose gets off his snake bitten streak, Zetterberg, Smith and Abdelkader. Multiple assists for Datsyuk, Green, and Zetterberg.

Mrazek plays like a stud between the pipes.

Let's Go Wings!
